    I was seen at Urgent Care by Wendy Fulford the day before Thanksgiving. I was fabulously treated by all the staff. From the front office person, to the person who checked me out, to the nurse who took my vitals and Wendy Fulford who saw me, everyone was completely competent and super nice. I was very impressed with this facility and as an out-of-town guest, I am pleased to know I have somewhere to go if necessary when I visit New Bern. Apparently, Wendy Fulford had recently been to a conference on my condition and started me on a new therapy for it. Since then I have been doing much better.

    Husband had to go to ER. Had a problem filling his prescription at the locat all night pharmacy. Told the McCarthy Square pharmacist about it. He gave us his personal phone number and said don't ever go through that again. Just call me and I will go to the pharmacy and fill your prescript anytime day or night. One week later my husband had another problem. We called the pharmacist at home around 8 or 9 pm. He met us at the pharmacy, filled the prescript and seemed delighted about the whole thing.

    Over the years, we have had very good experiences with them.  I really can’t say anything bad about them.  My husband has written a letter to them about the staff and how nice they are.  They have had everything available, as far as I know, that I needed.  I have had some times where I have gone into the emergency room with my mother and then got stuck there forever.  If we are sent in by a doctor in an ambulance, their response is excellent.  If we call an ambulance from home and sit in the emergency room, then the response is average.  Unfortunately, there is not enough nursing staff sometimes, but their service is good.  The doctors that see us and who work for the hospital are good.  When they have the information, their communication is pretty good, but sometimes they don’t have it.  I would use them only if needed.

    I liked their promptness. I had to have a procedure, and it was done within a week from the time I found out about it and the time it occurred. I liked the attitude of the people that worked there. I dealt mainly with the hospital staff, and it was wonderful; it was very good. There was a problem with the billing and administration aspect though. I would use their services in the future.

    Everything went extremely well at Carolina East Health Care. I was treated well. Everything was efficient and on time. All of the personnel was extremely competent and explained everything that needed to be done. I was not given the consent form (hospital consent form) until I was about to get wheeled in for surgery.

If it’s a new prescription they will print out the drug information and put it in your packet when it’s filled. They keep good records of what you have or have not had. They don’t over load you with too much literature

    I went to the radiology department for several exams, including a bone density scan.  They had me fill out an ABN, advanced beneficiary notice, in case my insurance wouldn't cover the bone density test.  I wasn't worried about it and I went ahead and signed it.  I later found out that medicare denied the claim.  So, I called medicare and they said they submitted the wrong code for the test, so they told me to get ahold of the hospital, have them fix the code and resubmit the claim.  I called the hospital back and they told me that they refiled for inpatients but they did not have time to refile outpatient claims.  Even though it was their mistake.  I wrote a letter and put it in dispute, they replied that they were forbidden to make an appeal.  I didn't ask for an appeal, I just asked them to submit the claim properly.  My doctor ended up calling and talking to them about it, and they couldn't get anything done either.  I wrote another letter, re-explained, and said I didn't like their first response.  They said the same response, that they can't file an appeal and that my doctor used the wrong code.  I sent in a redetermination to medicare and hopefully that will fix the problem.  The problem is that I signed that ABN that says if medicare doesn't pay, I will.  It even says on there that they will make every effort to work with medicare, but obviously that wasn't the case.  They basically made me pay up front or sign the form.  So, I felt trapped into one or the other.  And now I'm having a difficult time getting anyone to file the claim correctly so medicare can pay.
