    May Gutters
Everything went great. They were very responsive to my initial call. Got an estimate within a few days. Gary initially said that due to work backlog it would take about 4 weeks to get to our job. However, we got back from a day trip out of town only a couple of weeks later to find that they had been there and the gutter had been replaced. It matches the existing gutters perfectly - you would never know that it had been replaced. Very reasonable price for the work and very nice folks to work with.

    Maddox Metal Roofing
If focused, he does good work.  Very difficult to get his crew on site to perform work.  Had to threaten to pull the project to get completion.  Did assign non-roofing work to another contractor.  Lot's of excellent ideas, but easily distracted.

    Willis Roofing Service
Sent me a professional quote, with a list of references. Also provided brochure of shingle colors available.
Took old shingles off roof; repaired places where plywood had deteriorated; new tarpaper, shingles, vent flashing, roof edge. I was
pleased they do not use nail guns, but hand nail each shingle. They are careful about having enough nails in each shingle. They use good quality materials. This roof should last a very long time. Jeff Willis operates his business with Good, old-fashion pride in workmanship. I wish more contractors had this attitude.

    Maddox Metal Roofing
Rick Maddox did a really good job, which was a relief to us since no other roofers even returned our phone calls.  He said he would find the leak and fix it for good, and that is just what he did.  He explained in detail what he was going to do to repair the roof prior to doing the work and quoted the price before he touched anything.  He even did an additional repair for us at no extra charge.

    Advanced Roofing Co
It was very difficult to communicate with this company. I got the impression that my job was too small for them. Rarely did anyone answer the phone; instead, we left voice messages and someone would call back at their convenience. After about a week they sent someone to examine the job. When we did not hear from them in a week, we called them. The next day they explained that our paperwork had been misplaced and they would mail an estimate. We did not receive the estimate for another week. Against my intuition, I told them to do the job. Several days later, they sent what appeared to be inexperienced workers. No one came from the company to check their work. They did not run a garden hose around the repairs to check for leaks. Now a month later, we hired another company to repair the drywall in the ceiling of the living room that had been damaged by the leaking water. Before we started the drywall repair, we went into the attic to check that the roof leak had been repaired and unfortunately it had not been repaired. We could see light coming through the roof and water running down the outside of the chimney in the attic. When we called Advanced Roofing LLC, they said they did not have anyone to send to check the roof. We have lost all faith in Advanced Roofing doing the job correctly the second time if they couldn't do it correctly the first time. So we hired a different company to do the job correctly. Advanced Roofing refused to give us a complete or partial refund.

It went really Bad ! The roof leaked! The down spout was put on backwards and leaked bad! The wall he painted did not match.the rest of the wall ! The roof singles he replaced were a light color and the roof had dark singles.I called him to come fix the problems ,he came out and tared the roof. He said he would come back on a certain date ,to fix other problems. He never came back.I call him three times he never returned my calls!

Edwards & Sons Roofing and Home Improvements
It took him 9 months to complete the job. He told me on many occassions they would be out but then wouldn't show up or call. After threatening to take him to court, they finally came out and completed the major part of the work. They did not add a chimney cap or wrap the front porch columns as contracted for. Much of the other work was very shoddy. I later foolishly agreed to lease him the same house. This lasted only about 6 months until I had to evict him for non payment of rent and dumping shingles and construction debris on the property. He stole personal property I left there in storage including a $750 generator, $469 fertilizer spreader, $550 log spliter, $250 dehumider, $279 extension ladder, $200 aluminum walk plank and a floor buffer. If it wasn't nailed down, he took it. Additionally, he had the electricity turned off without taking his food out of the refrigerator. He left trash all over the property and didn't repair anything he had broken. Through the help of the sherriffs department, he had the shingles and construction debris removed and I was re-imbursed for the generator and he replaced the walk plank. I was told the rest would have to be handled as a civil matter due to our landlord / tenant relationship. After I began having problems, I began doing some checking and found Lester Edwards is classified as a habitual felon in North Carolina. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 1996 for numerous counts of property service cheats. He was released in 2006. His criminal record goes back to the early 1970's. He was arrested again in late Aug or early Sept but is out now on $43,500 bond, continuing to rip people off.
