Basement Remodeling reviews in Mooresville

  • Euro Craft rose to the occasion on both projects: he was quick, professional, thorough, and clean. He designed a custom picture window for the parents to look in, and he sound proofed the room so other instructors can teach right next to the room without missing a beat. He's a top notch craftsman. I highly recommend Euro Craft.

  • I called Brooks Henderson from his listing on Angie's List after extensive research on contractors in the area. He answered the phone himself with my first call, and I met with him within a day or two. He was attentive to our vision for the basement and told us what would have to happen to get it there. Brooks had a VERY detailed proposal for us within a week. We chose HBG over two other contractors because of his professionalism, the proposal that told us exactly what we would get, and because he agreed to put in a whole HVAC system for the area and put the plumbing in as we wanted.  I called a couple of his references, and they highly recommended him. We started the project in late October, and HBG was finished on January 22. The estimated time to complete the project was 10-12 weeks, and HBG finished the project right within this timeframe. Brooks was extremely efficient in running our project. He had someone doing something every day except a couple days here and there. His work teams work hard, enjoy what they do, and get along great with Brooks. Everyone cleaned up after every work day. We kept a photo log of the entire process, and never had trouble getting photos because of construction equipment or rubble. Brooks was there every day to open up for the crews and kept us involved and informed of everything that was going on, and if there needed to be an adjustment or change.  He even spread straw along the construction crew path from the driveway to the basement door to cut down on tracking mud inside! The carpenter, Matt, that Brooks used was fantastic.  He framed the entire area, put in the doors and hardware, baseboards and door and window trim.  He left the area very clean after every work day.
The HVAC team did a wonderful job hiding all the ductwork for the basement AND first floor heat and A/C!  Soffits were placed with aesthetics in mind.  We needed two soffits in the theater room, and the team made sure they looked balanced and like part of the architecture of the room. We did not use a designer for the project, but made all choices ourselves. Brooks gave us allowances for flooring, tile, cabinetry, a rock wall we asked for, and plumbing fixtures. He told us upfront that his allowances were mid-range in price, so we would know what to expect. He was patient with us in making our choices and worked closely with us if we needed guidance. If we needed to ask for additional work to be done, Brooks made it happen, quickly recalculated costs for us and instructed his crew on the added work.  I would highly recommend using Brooks Henderson as a general contractor.  He's good at his job and a good guy, too!

  • We have found Thomas and Tina to be very responsive and willing to work with us to meet our family needs and budget. They have gone above and beyond with customer service. Remodel has just begun. Will update post upon completion.

  • Great. Phase one is complete- a very professional job by Wayne and his crew.  I also added a few extra projects to his list which he completed. I trust these professionals to the point that I gave them blank checks after the extra work was done that was not a part of the original quote and job.  Wayne gave me a timeline for work and due dates for payments at the completion of each phase. I could not be more pleased with all the work they did, especially having to fix items from a 1971 house that were unexpected, like leaking vent boots on the roof, which could have ruined some of the dry wall work they had completed. Wayne will be doing more work on this house as the other phases are planned.Great. • Carl was outstanding in renovating our basement.  we had been in the house for almost 10 years before we decided to finish the basement and we chose Carl.  He worked with us and recommended a number of changes that we have loved.  He worked with us to allow us to do some of the work (we did the laminate floor, and the epoxy floor in the workshop).  He subcontracted some of the work, but supervised them well to make sure that what we wanted was delivered well.
We were not members of Angie's list back then.  But we would use Carl again.

  • I received a note from Blake that read:

We would be happy to help with this project. We do this type of work all the time and to begin with we have found that it is a good idea to verify that you have a realistic budget to begin with before we proceed. From what you have described from your request, I would guestimate that the costs could be in the 50-60K range. If this coincides with your budget, please give me a call at 704-309-0993 and we will be happy to come out and meet with you next week.

The problem is in the approach. Additionally, I read reviews on this company for similar projects with more square footage at much lower prices. I simply replied saying thanks but no thanks. This approach, in my opinion, is not professional or a positive way to solicit business. Despite my budget or financial expectations, this is reflective of a hard-nosed and impersonal approach. Thus, we are going with another contractor for this project and an entire house remodel down the road.

I understand Blake is in business to make money, and I also expect he meets people who expect to finish a basement for $10K. Nonetheless, this is not justified - particularly over email. (Note: I never met or spoke to Blake live. I also cannot speak to his workmanship. I wish this had been handled differently because I would have liked to consider ASA.)

  • We found Master Craft home on your web site and contacted Scott Sendek. He was able to come out that very afternoon. My husband took him around to the areas that were damage. He told him what we wanted to do. Scott was able to e mail us an estimate withing 24 hours detailing what he would do and the cost. The price was so good that we decided to get the carpet removed and put down wood floors. We received and estimate for that too. We sign the contract in October. Scott ordered the doors and was able to start working on the problems 11/07/2010. He finished a week later. There were some extra expenses because the damage proved to be more severe than first thought. Over all the company did a great job.

  • Kip came over within 24 hours of our first call to measure and talk to us about exactly what we wanted. He then produced a quote within a few days, which we were able to negotiate (for example: we did the priming and painting, and the cabinetry company installed the cabinets and countertops instead of Kip). He began work within the time frame we requested in order for the space to be ready on the reserved cabinet installation date. He was ready with time to spare, and returned the day after the other company's installation to finish lighting and electrical work. Throughout the job he checked with us to assure our satisfaction, and that things were being done with our initial vision in mind. A few times he offered alternatives which he felt would be better, and he was right every time: for example, he suggested the under-cabinet lighting configurations for better task lighting, and he suggested electrical outlets between lower and upper cabinets, as well as at floor level, for convenience of plugging in things like the sewing machine. We have employed several contractors in 4 different states, and Kip has proven to be top-notch. We will always hire Kip for any job he can do (just about anything!), and have also employed him to install an attic fan; and finish our under-the-deck space with drainange and a ceiling, plus a ceiling fan/light.

  • We became acquainted with Galucci Contracting, Inc. as their work was subcontracted by another firm. Of course, the main contracting firm told us they were among the best in the area. We are confident that this is true. Brian and Connie Galucci are both talented in construction skills and remind you of a couple you might on TV advising viewers how to do things. Brian is a no nonsense kind of guy that gets the job done. I would highly their company.

  • He was so fast and thorough. I was amazed. I highly recommend Euro Craft. I would use them again in the future.
