    Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care
    I have been there twice and the second time I went was not a good experience. They did a good job on my transmission. They have a problem with customer service. I paid $1,000 for the warranty. The transmission went bad. I called them and left a message and they did not call me back. The management is bad. They were not responsive, but they did do the work. They called me a week later, they had a problem processing the paperwork. I had a bad experience with them in less than a year. I would not use them again.

    AAMCO Transmissions
    I took my truck for the oil change. They honored the coupon but when they worked on the truck, they came out to the waiting room and told me I was leaking oil from "everywhere". I was given an estimate of several hundred dollars to replace the gaskets. I took it to another shop for a second opinion. They second shop put it on a lift and within a minute the mechanic told me that a valve cover was loose. He tightened it up and charged me $20. I have not had a problem since. That was six months ago. When I brought the truck in for another oil change last month, Richard asked about the engine work. I said I had it done elsewhere for $20. Richard was visibly irritated with my answer.
    I just took my wife's car in to AAMCO for an oil change. While I was in the waiting room they came out to talk to me and told me that they had taken my car for a test drive and that it was pulling to the right. They told me the "left caliper was hanging up". I asked if the left caliper was hanging up, why was it pulling to the right? Richard told me he did not have time to explain it to me. He did however, have time to write up an estimate for over $700. I looked at the receipt and it included replacing both front brake calipers. I asked why did I have to replace both calipers? Richard told me that "He was amazed that I wanted to risk my wife's safety because I was so cheap". I took the car to a dealer immediately and told them I thought the brakes might be pulling. The DEALER checked out the car and said the brakes were working perfectly.
    I am guessing that the coupons are a marketing loss leader program to get you in the door. I would guess that the staff is on a commission based compensation program. They did great oil changes but, if they recommend some other work, beware.

    My son's 1999 Acura CL was having transmission issues. After researching the type of issues this type of vehicle had with transmissions, I began calling around to local shops to discuss potential issues and a repair. We took the vehicle to two different shops and got two different opinions. His vehicle did not make it to the third shop as the transmission failed, so he parked it in a local shopping center lot. I really wasn't comfortable with just two diagnosis, even though we have used one of the shops in the past. I decided to Google transmission repair shops in the area and found Twin Automotive. I was immediately impressed with the detail the site provided and read the reviews, which were equally as impressive. I also looked at the warranty provided on transmission work and couldn't believe they offer a 3yr/unlimited mileage warranty! I decided to visit Twin Automotive to look at the facility, meet the staff, and discuss the issue with the Acura transmission. When I stopped by, I was greeted warmly by the young lady behind the counter (I feel bad I don't remember her name) and got to speak with the owner, Paul. He told me about the issue with the transmissions in the car and that he would be happy to take a look and determine what needed to be done. When I told him it was broke down in a parking lot, Paul offered to use their free towing policy since it was within the free towing radius. I also mentioned that I saw a $200 off coupon on their website and he said he would honor that as well. The car was picked up that same day as promised and taken to the shop. I received a call from Paul the next day to let me know excatly what was wrong, how it happened, and the best course of action which was to rebuild the transmission.

    Twin Automotive promised the car would be finished within a week. I received a call two days prior to promised completion date and was told the car would be another two days. Wow! I actually got a call ahead of time so we could make plans accordingly!! It wasn't a big deal as they seemed busy when the car came in and Paul assured me the car would be done. I received a call stating the car was ready on the new date promised and I took my son up there to pick it up. He test drove the car and everything was great! I spoke with Paul a bit more and he presented the invoice, which was excatly what the estimate read.

    My wife and I are very impressed with Twin Automotive and have taken my daughter's Jeep there for a water pump replacement. I highly recommend the folks at Twin Automotive to anyone who needs automotive repair.

    WE WERE VERY PLEASED TO HAVE OUR SON'S TRANSMISSION REPAIRED/REBUILT ACCORDING TO THE ORIGINAL QUOTE WITH NO SURPRISES OR HIDDEN CHARGES. THIS COMPANY TOOK THE CAR ON SHORT NOTICE, VERY SHORT NOTICE, AND ALTHOUGH THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE TO REPAIR WAS 3 DAYS, WE ARE STILL VERY IMPRESSED THAT WE HAD TO COME BACK IN LESS THEN A WEEK. IT DRIVES BEAUTIFULLY NOW.
