    HDI Construction
BUYER BEWARE!  Do not make the same decision I made to hire HDI for your home or business renovation, you will live to regret it.
Working with HDI was one of the worst experiences I have ever been through.  Mike Heeg, owner and lone employee of the company, is dishonest and unprofessional and works with no sense of urgency.  I do not want others to make the same mistake I did, so please take the time to read this review in full.
Mike would routinely show up to the job site between 2-3PM each afternoon and would then proceed to only work for 4 hours per day.  This after claiming his average work week consisted of putting in 60 hour work-weeks and that 40 hour work-weeks were ?child?s play?.
He never even came close to this claim and would typically work between 15 and 20 hours a week, which included the weekends.  He would also assure us on a daily basis that he would arrive to the job site early the next day and stay late, but it never happened.  We quickly learned that Mike?s word was unreliable and not to be trusted, and that he would say whatever it took to try and give us false hope that things would change and we would start to see more effort.
As a result of the minimal hours worked and his refusal to hire additional help, our renovation was significantly delayed and we found ourselves over two months behind schedule.  When confronted about the delay, Mike?s attitude was defensive and
unprofessional.  He was in no way apologetic or remorseful, and would make frequent nonsensical excuses as to why the work was not getting done in time.  He would also claim that it was completely standard for projects to be delayed for several months and that the work would get done eventually.
The quality of Mike?s work was mediocre at best.  He proved himself to be careless and clumsy on several occasions, including one occasion where he was attempting to take down an existing fan from the ceiling and proceeded to drop the fan onto the floor resulting in substantial damage.  He never offered to reimburse us for the damages and when later confronted about it, told us the fan was ?trash?.
Mike frequently displayed a lack of attention to detail and due diligence.  Part of our renovation involved installing new tile flooring and prior to installation, he didn?t take the time to survey the entire area to ensure our concrete slab foundation was
level.  Instead, he began the installation only to discover midway through that the floors were not level and that drastic measures would then need to be taken in order to get everything back level.  The measures proved costly in both time and money.
Another example of his lack of attention to detail was when he was attempting to install our new cabinetry.  Between one set of cabinets was a placeholder for a dishwasher we would later be putting in.  The floor plan he had obtained specifically stated the space between needed to be 24? across, which he assured us he had measured correctly when setting the cabinets.
However, we later came to find out that he had made a careless measuring error which had resulted in the space only being 23.5? across.  This 0.5? difference resulted in the dishwasher not fitting like it should, and work and expense was then needed to correct this mistake, none of which he offered to pay for despite it being his mistake.
If you are looking to begin a home or business renovation, I strongly urge you do not make the same mistake I did and employ the services of HDI Contractors.  Instead, take the time early on to research a general contractor that is A+ certified with the Better Business Bureau, and that has built a solid reputation over the years.  You will be glad you did.

    Manus Contracting, Inc
Aside from weather delays, all deadlines have been met and we are actually AHEAD of schedule!!! We were set to be complete by February, but are looking to be moved in by mid January!! Manus Contracting kept up posted on every aspect of the home building process and we were able to drop in to check on the status at any time.  We learned early on to let Manus Contracting be the professional that they are and not to compare them to what we see on HGTV.  I was able to show them photos on Pinterest of ideas I liked which they in turn were able to create for me and the end result was even better!
Being a Realtor I see a lot of homes and know of a lot of home builders, but I knew when I met Manus Contracting that they would be the best choice and would allow me to work one on one since this was a custom build and not a production home. I would HIGHLY recommend Manus Contracting to anyone looking to build a home or for any remodeling jobs.  I would also be happy to work with any prospective clients looking to build a custom home and can introduce you to Manus Contracting! Feel free to contact me at 704-249-7163 with any questions or if you would like to see photos of my new home!  (I will post photos when the hardwood floors and carpet are complete)

great. every step was done together. Andy made sure we were happy throughout the process. After getting water damage from broken pipes, the insurance company gave us names of builders. I am completely satisfied with 4 oaks. I would recommend them for any job big or small

    Four Oaks Builders, LLC
I had a terrific experience with Four Oaks Builders! Andy Suttle was a complete professional. He was respectful of my time and privacy. He was meticulous in calculating his estimate, so that the final cost was not a surprise. If he said someone would be at my house on a certain day at a certain time, they were. He kept me informed of where we were in the process at all times. Andy was very easy to reach when I needed an answer to a question or some additional information.
Andy met with my insurance person so that he could answer any questions the company might have about damage to my roof. He was able to get the company to pay for an entirely new roof, and Andy's company took care of the installation when tying the addition into the existing roof line.
I have recommended Andy Suttle and Four Oaks Builders to neighbors, friends, and family members. I would call him first if ever I need work done around the house.

    Don's Home Care Service
Excellent service and dedication to completing the job. I am a commercial contractor, now retired, and Don has been helping me with commercial and residential new construction and remodeling projects, including a $400,000 remodel on my personal residence. He will do what it takes to get the job done. I am new to Angie's List or this report would have been submitted years ago.

Newton Custom Homes & Realty, Inc.
We were 700 miles away and built our home long distance. It was excellent. His follow up was fantastic; he sent photographs and emails every step of the way. I couldn?t have asked him to be better. If I could give A+++, I would! They always went above and beyond. I have no bad things to say about this company.

    Tsitouris Homes Inc
The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors has an injunction against the company prohibiting it from engaging in the practice of general contracting.  Construction took almost a year. At one point, the general contractor halted construction for almost four months during which time he failed to return phone calls from us. We paid thousands in late fees on our loan due to construction delays. The general contractor failed to supervise his subcontractors. Numerous changes were made to our home plans by the general contractor or his subs. The worst include raising the ground level side entrance up to the level of the first floor, eliminating beams under exterior walls, and placing the upstairs windows at random heights so that some are too high to see out of or to operate. The home also has dozens of building code violations. The most egregious being the missing beams and the absence of piers under the load-bearing walls. Repairs are estimated to be at least six figures and the cost to sue is crushing. I definitely do not recommend this general contractor. He has destroyed our family financially.
