    It went great. I had the logs cleaned before and it was making my smoke detector go off. This time, there was no problem at all. They also replaced some wiring that was preventing the logs from turning on.

    They did a good job I guess. I asked and they were supposed to send me an e-mail with the report and pictures, but they never did. They never followed-up on me. I requested it for the second time and they never followed-up. They did not charge me more than the $135 Big Deal, but they said that there were a couple of issues and that is why they were going to send me a report on that. I would probably use them again, but I would probably make sure I tell them upfront.

    One of the specials ($129 for a Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning, and Inspection) was purchased on January 20, and an appointment was scheduled for Friday, January 22.  The technician, Kevin, called at about 8:10 that morning, and asked if he could come earlier than the scheduled time.  We certainly agreed, and appreciated his call and his commitment to keep the appointment, despite the very bad weather in our area on that day.  He arrived at about 8:40 am, and proceeded to work on our gas fireplace.  After cleaning it and replacing the rock wool which simulates burning embers, he attempted to light it and found that he could not do so.  He ultimately discovered that a part needed to be replaced, and I believe it is called a thermocouple.  He stated that the cost would be $385, in addition to the $129 we had paid for the cleaning, inspection, etc.  I agreed, although I found the amount to be exorbitant.  He proceeded to replace the unit, and finally, the fireplace was started satisfactorily. He then headed out to his truck to write up the bill, and I asked him to bring the paperwork in before he actually wrote it up.  When he asked why, I stated that I was concerned about the total bill, and a discussion ensued.  He asked me why I hadn't told him about my concern before he installed the part, and why I had not refused to have it installed or called another company for a second opinion.  I stated that I had decided to go ahead, since the fireplace was already dis-assembled, and he was already there, but that I still had concern about the exorbitant price, and he stated that he had heard that before from other customers.  I told him that I might contest the cost with my credit card company, and he became quite indignant, and asked me if I knew the cost of his education to do such work, to which I replied that the cost of his education was of no concern to me.  Also, while he had been working, I looked up the cost of the part on the internet, and the most expensive I found was only $59.00.  That means, subtracting at most $59.00 from his charge of $385, that his labor would cost $326!!  Outrageous!!  He also stated that they are a flat rate company.  The conversation continued and he then said that he would call the company owner, so he went out to his truck and did so.  When he returned, he told me that he had spoken to the owner, and that he had agreed to reduce the price from $385 to $323.  I paid him, by credit card, rather than by check as I had earlier planned before he arrived, and he left.  I had the impression that the technician was somewhat offended because I had taken pictures and video with my cell phone, but that was ONLY so that my husband and I would know how to light the fireplace in the future. He never objected while I was doing so.  Although the fireplace works well, and the job was properly done (as far as we know), I would still not contact the company in the future, and will make sure that I discuss my experience with friends and family.

    Chris came and inspected our system from top to bottom. I was impressed with his personal style, his professionalism, and this thoroughness. After taking things apart and checking and recording the state of the flue and firebox, we spent some time going over the results. We spoke about some improvements and he gave me an itemized estimate on what needed to be done in order to make those improvements.
          I sense that this is a cmp[any that understands how important customer service is and they seem to excel at it.  I had a very comfortable and positive experience with Owens Chimney service and in particular with Chris.

    Everything was excellent. The service provider showed up on time, explained how everything would go, and immediately got to work. He made sure he had plenty of materials to keep the house clean while he worked and was quick and effective. As he was doing a video inspection, he showed us what our chimney looked like and gave us his recommendations without being pushy or as though he was pitching a sales opportunity. Once he was done, the chimney was in great shape and everything was clean above expectations. Outstanding service.

    They were very excellent. It took a while for them to schedule me in. He's very competent and a knowledgeable young man. He did a good job. I called to tell them that the kid that they sent was excellent and that he was very, very good. Everything was fine. I had called them prior to the deal coming up and it was a little more money than I could afford so when the deal came up, I was happy with it.

    The technician was amazing.  His work was clean and thorough considering chimney sweeping is a dirty business.  He came to do the "Big Deal" service and showed up promptly.  He was also kind enough to show me how to light the gas fireplace in my bedroom without blowing up the house! 
    Because the dampers in the main fireplace (living room) didn't work and were locked in the open position, the technician explained that they couldn't be repaired.  He could get them to work (possibly) but I'd have to stick my arm all the way up into the chimney to open and close the dampers.  When I asked if there was another way, he suggested new dampers to be installed on the top of the chimney which were controlled by chains.  The office set up the appointment and the technician arrived a little later than scheduled but the office had already notified me of the delay.  The technician arrived and installed the new dampers which involved removing the chimney cap, grinding down the tiles and installing the two stainless steel dampers.  The technician was extremely careful about walking on my brand new metal roof and was also careful in placing his ladder. 
    The dampers and chains were installed in about 1 hour 15 minutes.  All the work was neat and clean.  The technician demonstrated using the chains to open and close the dampers.  He is an outstanding worker.  I notified Owen's Chimney Cleaning Service that I was thrilled with the technician and the service.  They are concerned about their employees and their customers.  Needless to say, I am completely impressed with Owen's Chimney Service and would heartily recommend them!

    They came out and looked around outside. Then came back in and asked me if I spoke to someone about the cleaning. I told them that I purchased it through Angie's List, then someone called me to schedule the appointment.  He then asked me if I was aware about the $70 up charge on top of the $99 I had already paid. I then told them that I didn't want to pay the extra, so they left and I am getting my money refunded.
