    They made 3 different time slots to come and inspect garage door and failed to show up for all 3! I was not contacted at all for the first, so I called them. Another appointment made and I wasn't contacted until after the allotted time, to be told their technicians had gone home. Rearranged for the following morning at 9, nobody called me until 12.30, at which point I told them I no longer wanted their services. They also charge a $85 call out fee!

    Arrived on a Sunday morning one hour after calling. He Explained what broke and gave me options on replacing one or both springs. I opted for both being they are of the same age. Job took about an hour. My door was big for a residential house so my springs were the larger size. He adjusted the door travel and lubricated the wheels. He informed me of a one year warranty. Pleasant guy.

    Contractor gave estimate, including brochures detailing the products to be used in the replacement.  We determined independently that the products came from Home Depot, and that Home Depot was, at the time, having a sale.  We returned this information to the contractor, and he revised his estimate, allowing us to have a top-quality door installed at the price originally quoted for the lowest quality door.
    During installation, the contractor determined that the garage wasn't built level, and it became clear that the failure of the previous door (the door itself was broken in the middle, and the lifting mechanism was burnt out) was probably due to the non-level installation.  The contractor corrected for this by installing the door on a level, with an oversize gasket at one end to compensate for the (3 inch) inequality.  We were not charged for this correction, nor did the contractor suggest any charge.
    There were some delays getting the material, which the contractor attributed to the special character of the materials we were using.  This seemed reasonable, and still does.  In fact, the controller we had specified was no longer available, and we eventually used another type.  This was handled with a discount from the contractor for the difference in price.
    After using the new door for a couple of months, we are extremely satisfied.  In addition to the upgraded door, which has benefits in R-factor which we have been able to notice, the controls have been moved to a more convenient placement and upgraded to include safety and convenience features we had formerly missed.
    We highly recommend Asheville Garage Door in general, and David Hall in particular.

    Everything went very well! I chose him because of his response to an F that he had received on Angie's List. He was very responsive, professional. He was really wonderful to deal with and there were no major problems at all. The only (minor) complaint that we have is that when he gave the estimate he did not provide any drawings for the door selection.

    The company advertises same-day service. I called them on 8/10/10 when my garage door came off the track as I was driving my car into the garage, almost collapsing the double-door onto my car. The door is now hanging off the track, and if it falls down further, my car will be badly damaged. I called Home Town Garage Doors from their large ad in the Yellow Pages. Apparently the same-day service is false advertising, as they would not give me an appointment until the next day. Meanwhile, my car is trapped in the garage in danger of damage, and I have no way to open the door and go to work until after they fix the door the next day. I'm also nervous that meanwhile there could be an emergency for which I need my car. They promise they will be here the next day between noon and 2 p.m. At 11:30 a.m. the next day, a female representative calls and casually announces that the technician is sick, so they can't keep the appointment. She expresses no regrets whatsoever and acts completely unconcerned about my dilemma. I understand that the technician she is referencing cannot keep the appointment, but am surprised that they are cancelling the appointment for lack of back-up . She proceeds to tell me in detail how sick the technician is, as if she thinks I am expecting that particular technician to show up and provide service anyway! I express my sympathies for that technician, but ask whether they have another technician they could send, as I can't believe they are blowing off a customer with an appointment because one of their employees is sick, and they have no back-up. She is speaking to me in a very unconcerned voice the whole time, even though I tell her I need to get my car out of the garage ASAP and was counting on them to keep their word and deliver the service as promised and scheduled. I tell her I will spread the word about their company on the Internet, and she says "Okaaaaaay," in a very sing-song voice and hangs up. Do NOT use this company because clearly customer service is not a priority, and they have no backup if a technician gets sick and/or can't come to work on the day of your appointment! This company is apparently a franchise headquartered in Abingdon, VA, with providers scattered throughout other states, so it should be a large enough enterprise to have more than one technician per area for backup purposes such as this! This is a very poor business practice for a company the size of this that (supposedly) provides an emergency service.
