I tried a closer vet but went back to the longer drive. Dr James Schmunk and staff care for pets with a love for animals that you can see. They have a world of knowledge and understand people and their love for their furry children. They have always treated me with compassion and respect. His staff is helpful and caring from the techs to the office staff. They also do labs on-site with quick results and accurate diagnosis. I can't say enough; great people

    Laughing Dog Pet Sitters
I initially used Laughing Dog Pet Sitter's when I had to go out of town and needed someone to look in on my dog's while I was away.  Sheila was very attentive and came for a visit to meet the dogs and get the details of what was needed before the first visit. She was thorough and asked whether I needed anything else done while I was away such as bringing in the mail, etc.  I was happy with the services and would use Sheila whenever I had to go out of town.
On one occasion when I had to go out of town, I noticed that one of my dog's had a slight limp on the morning I left so I let Sheila know to keep an eye on her.  Sheila watched after her and kept me informed when she started getting worse.  She contacted my veterinarian to try and get her in for a visit to see what was going on.  When my vet said that he was busy and could not see her that day, Sheila contacted  me and suggested that we take her to the vet she uses as they always take the time to see an injured pet even if they are busy.  It turned out that my dog had a herniated disc in her back and had very little movement in her back end and could not walk by the end of the day.  Sheila's vet took care of her until I could get back in town and we could discuss options.
Upon return, I ended up going with surgery to try and restore the mobility to my dog's back end which required crate confinement for 2 month and significant assistance when the dog had to get outside to go to the bathroom.  Sheila helped with daily visits to take care of her and let her out and was very caring and careful not to let her hurt herself further.  My dog had a nearly full recovery and is now able to get around on her own and be a normal dog again.
Sheila helped greatly in that difficult time and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

ANIMAL CARE CLINIC OF RURAL HALL
One of my cats was losing hair on her hind legs and back, toward her tail.  I thought it was ringworm and brought her in for confirmation and medicine.  Luckily, the doctors did not find ringworm and thought it was an allergic reaction.  They gave her a shot.  Although her hair has not grown back (yet), it has not gotten worse and the peace of mind knowing I don't have a ringworm issue in the house is worth a LOT.
Since 2008, Animal Care Clinic has been my veterinarian.  Both Preston and Lynn are kind and gentle with the animals and very patient with the human "parents" of the furry ones they treat.  They work with animal rescue groups in the area such as Foxdale Independent Rescue - animal welfare is a high priority for both Dr. Roberts (they are married and have a daughter going to vet school!)
I have fostered cats throughout the years, bringing in many for spaying/neutering, potty patches, check-ups, etc.  I also have three dogs (ages 16, and two at 7) that have been to ACC for various issues from nail clippings to check-ups.
I am very happy with the quality and pricing of services at Animal Care Clinic!  The front desk staff are also very knowledgeable and affable people who genuinely care about animals.  I love how there are always dogs and cats of their own in the office.  I hope to continue a partnership with them throughout the coming years.
The one thing I wish they would institute is a professional greeting (i.e. "Animal Care Clinic, this is Jane, how can I help you?") because I always have to guess or ask with whom am I speaking.  I haven't requested this, so it's not something they have gotten as feedback yet.

    Oldtown Veterinary Hospital
Our cat, Sylvester, was seen by Dr. McCourt since our arrival to the area in April 2011 until December 2012 for routine care as well as treatment for chronic issues. Over the course of the year and 8 months she was his doctor, she provided the high quality care that balanced our desire for his quality of life and costs associated with his condition. She ALWAYS makes a point to provide options with consideration to the best interest of the patients welfare and and quot;parentsand quot; check book. On December 8th, 2012, she was there for his last day. His condition finally became such that it was in his best interest to end the suffering and allow him some dignity. She displayed care, concern and compassion as she provided input to assit me in making the decision. Further more, once I had made the decision, she was kind enough to affirm that decision, which eased some of the pain at losing a companion of over 15 years. We also take our dogs to Oldtown and they receive wonderful care and attention as well. I only wish they were closer to our home! Always well worth the cost when you get that level quality service, flexibility and compassionate care.

    BANFIELD THE PET HOSPITAL
$500.00 + later, we were assured nothing was wrong (!)  Did we get anything in return for paying to find "nothing?"  Nope.  Disgusted, we took Taffy to another vet and found she has hip dysplasia in BOTH legs.  Immediately got her on a regimine for pain management.  That visit didn't cost $500 and we got a proper diagnosis.  Immediately discontinued the Banfield Wellness plan.

Taffy is 15+ years old now and still enjoys life.  She only goes to my vet in Rural Hall for any check-ups or office visits.

I have been a customer of a total of four Banfield offices (two in Georgia and two in NC).  They seem totally unaffiliated with each other:  their computer systems aren't linked together .  What are they-franchises?  The overall atmosphere:  being sandwiched inside PetSmart is a truly savvy business move (what an awesome store front and guaranteed to bring in business); however, Banfield is the McDonald's of veterinary care.  Vets and staff come and go like the turnover in any fast food joint.  Very unimpressive and points to the lack of true dedication to the job/the animals.

Not only is this place NOT accredited with the Better Business Bureau, but the BBB gives them an "F" because BBB, "recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers concerning billing, contract and customer service issues."

I would strongly suggest NOT investing in Banfield.

    ANIMAL HOSPITAL OF WALNUT COVE
She is pretty direct. She says this is what you need to do. If I call them they will get my puppies in. I have 3 of them. I have gone to 3 different vets and I like them the most. The staff is great and she is great. The thing I like about Dr. Steve is that some doctor's will pill pop my dogs and charge a lot for humans. She has no problem saying that you can use this drug and it will be cheaper and that's why I like her.

Shelia was fantastic! We received daily updates and photos. She is trustworthy, professional, and obviously loves animals. We give her our highest recommendation. Hope to use her services again.

Absolutely Horrible! I almost never write reviews and this was so outrageous I felt I had to. See services performed for complete details.
