    The move was fine, the moving men were professional. Be aware of their sales tactics - they quote you an overall cost on the phone and then after you commit they charge you an hourly rate. After I committed to the move and right before it happened they emailed me a "confirmation" stating the hourly rate. Too late for me to find another mover. In my case it was $270 over what they quoted. Not a lot of money except it's 30% more than they quoted. My fault for not picking up on this scam in the first place, should have seen this coming. They charge a $115 travel fee which according to them covers gas, tolls, etc. However they tried to charge per man (they had two movers) for a total of $230. So two guys sitting in a truck somehow makes gas, tolls, etc. double in rate? BS They took over three hours to drive a distance of 101 miles - most of it highway miles - and they tried to slip that extra time into the bill. BS I can look at Google maps just like anyone else. They left in the middle of the day, not rush hour. I also gave them an alternate route to take if they didn't want to take the highway which they didn't do. There are a lot of moving companies out there. Get a firm price quoted in writing before you do anything. If they come back with an hourly rate you know it is BS.

    It took about 6 months to get the pickup of the piano in Arizona scheduled because we don't live in AZ full time.  But, once it was scheduled, the driver, Mark, arrived exactly when he said he would in Arizona which was perfect as we had arranged with our home watch people to let Mark into the house.  Mark arranged the pickup with our home watch people personally.  Our home watch people said that Mark took great care wrapping and labeling our piano pieces in AZ. 
    Mark called us 5 days before he arrived in North Carolina and gave us the day and a time window of when he would arrive.  He called the morning of arrival to confirm when he would arrive and he arrived exactly when he said he would.  We watched as he personally unloaded, unwrapped and set up our piano which arrived in great condition.
    We chose Sterling due to their very positive reviews in moving pianos.  However, we were concerned initially about going with Sterling because it is a small company with few trucks.  When you have a small move with a ride share van, you never know if your items are being offloaded into a warehouse to await a ride to their destination.  But, we were happy to learn that Mark, who picked up the piano in Arizona, was also the person driving the truck across country and would be setting it up in our home in North Carolina.  And, the piano once on the truck, never left the truck.  We were given almost a month's window of when it would arrive in North Carolina after pickup.  It was picked up on 8/20 in Arizona and arrived in North Carolina on 9/11, 4 weeks later.  We were given a time window of anytime between 9/4 through 9/30 when the piano could have arrived.  Overall, we feel we made out really well.

    My experience with Craig Van Lines (CVL) was and is an absolute NIGHTMARE! I chose CVL because I originally liked the representative that gave me a cost estimate for my entire move, i.e., packing, storing and delivering my household goods. I couldn't have been more wrong in my initial opinion of him because once I signed on everything went south ( BAD) big time! The representative told me he would get me some boxes so that I could pack a few personal items to take with me to my destination. I made call after call and was given rude, nasty excuse after rude, nasty excuse as to why these boxes had not been delivered by both the representative and the Office Mgr. To compensate for this treatment, I asked for and was promised a free month of storage which never materialized. Every time I questioned the Office Mgr. about the Bill of Lading Statements sent to me, he responded rudely and nastily that the information contained therein was self explanatory! It became apparent to me that he simply couldn't explain the numbers he had come up with on these Statements. I was sent numerous Bill of Lading Statements in all with little or no explanation as to their content. Finally, I realized I had to contact the husband and wife owners, Mr. and Mrs. Craig, which turned out to be even more of a NIGHTMARE if that is possible. I left many phone messages without any significant response and was forced to revert to e-mail. Mrs. Craig was very uncommunicative and detached. I had to send her many e-mail messages to get a response from her which was almost always weeks in coming and unsatisfactory and unresponsive when finally received. In total frustration, I made several entreaties to have Mr. Craig, her husband, call me and after many weeks, he finally did. That phone call was unsettling to say the least because when I questioned a number that was clearly incorrect on a Bill of Lading Statement he had prepared, he chuckled and said that he guessed he was wrong and would and quot;takeand quot; the number I had identified?!? These Bill of Lading Statements were never resolved by CVL. But I was required by them to pay the last quoted amount in order to release my household goods.

    I now am in the process of working with the BBB to seek restitution for $400.+ dollars they incorrectly charged me.

    It is my opinion that anyone considering contracting with CVL to move their household goods should definitely think again! I made a terrible mistake when I contracted with them, and I''m warning consumers to and quot; Let the Buyer Bewareand quot;!
