    Stumpy's Tree Service
Dont let Bobs gruff demeanor fool you he knows what he is doing, and he cares about doing the job right. He brought a crew of 5 with him, including a crewmember to climb and take the trees down in pieces (unless the tree was so dead that it was unsafe to do so), an articulating loader with turf tires (vs a bobcat) to transport the tree pieces, and a massive chipper. His crew worked efficiently and carefully, using ropes to control falling limbs/trees, minimizing collateral damage to our surrounding trees, and cleaning up all tree debris. The crew was friendly and polite. They even pointed out and took care of another dead Ash tree that became visible and had a much clearer line to the house once the other trees had been removed. Scheduling can be tricky with tree removal due to weather, emergency work, and other factors, so if you are looking for an exact date/time with plenty of notice, you'll need to adjust your expectations. Bob told us that we were on his schedule for the following week, then called the next week the morning of to say he was headed our way that day. This worked fine for me because I work from home. Overall, we are very satisfied with the work done by Bob Crane and his crew, and we will use his services again when we have the need.

    Tree Care
This was the worst experience with an outside vendor we have ever had!  If you just look at the tree cutting portion, that was ok but there was so much else to deal with.  The lack of professionalism was the biggest issue.  Safety was another issue.  We heard an endless list of complaints the entire time about the job: complaints about how they were losing money because he was used to making at least 4000 a day, complaints about the bees (which we had to find a professional to handle the bees, they didn't have one),  not being clear on billing and complaining about taking a card for payment (he wanted a check written to him personally, not the business). The trucks were dropped off on Thursday on our property and no work was performed for days.  They were unclear with communicating their plan and have since left the job unfinished and not returning our calls, after having told us they were returning to finish.  We requested an invoice for our records but so far we can't seem to get one.  James Terry did make the comment that he was trying to make it look like they didn't get to work that week so maybe that is why.  He was also in a hurry to get off on a fishing trip to the gulf that Friday so was calling my elderly parents at 7:50am that morning wondering where they were so he could get his check, they were scheduled to meet at 8am.  Punctuality was not an issue earlier in the week. Even though they were complaining they were behind schedule they seemed to have time to come jump around the yard with pesticides trying to spray the bees and seal the hole with great stuff foam.  They had already been told a bee expert was coming to handle the bees.  They did not listen very well as they were also told my father was having surgery on Thursday and Mr. Terry was concerned about getting his payment that day.  If it was so dire he have his money before his trip, maybe this should have been brought up in advance.  I did originally tell Mr. Terry about my father's surgery when he requested my father get his bulldozer and move the trunk himself.  As for their equipment, his bucket truck broke more than once and they requested the use of our tools to fix it and then didn't use it after that point.  The trailer they were hauling wood in also came unattached from the truck as well.  After they left we had to pick up bottles, cigarette butts, and limbs to clear the driveway that they broke in other trees and didn't remove.  The workers also had no beverages while working in 90 degree heat.  We provided his workers with drinks and ice.  I would think with him making 4,000 a day (960,000 a year) that a reusable water cooler and a bag of ice would be a small investment in the safety of his workers.
