Excavating reviews in Huntersville

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • No issues at all since they did the repair. They were even able to save the Japanese maple tree that was near the break/excavation area. Very good experience with them and will use them for all future plumbing needs. Highly recommend.

  • An efficiently run operation.  The equipment was unloaded and moved into position quickly.  I provided a minimal amount of instructions on what i was trying to accomplish.  Gradescapes NC, Inc. added value to the project by not only flawless execution, but zero disturbance of the yard and other feature of the house.  Hands down, would recommend again 10/10.

  • It was very easy to schedule with this company.  They responded fast both via email and phone.  The problem is that they no-showed TWICE.  Even calling the day of to tell me they were running late, but still never showed.  I LOVE to promote small local businesses, but I was really disappointed with this company.  After they didn't show the first time and didn't bother to call me until after the scheduled date...I had to reschedule other work being done on my house that needed to happen after their service.  The next scheduled appointment was also a no-show and this time I had to do the work b/c I didn't want to reschedule with my other contractor.  I would not recommend this company.  I hate having to write a bad review, but others should be aware.  I was able to get my money back from Angie's List (great customer service!)

  • Adam was very quick to respond to my inquiry on Angie's List. We scheduled a date and time for him to come out on a Saturday. It ended up raining that day and I was called an hour before the meeting to cancel. He stated that he wouldn't be working up my way due to the rain and wasn't going to drive all the way up just to meet me (I believe he said he's an hour away). We rescheduled for this past Saturday at the same time but no one ever showed or and I received no call either. I started to call to inquire about the meeting but decided not to and to just go with another company. At the time of the initial cancellation I didn't feel that he really wanted to do business with me.

  • From initial inquiry to completion of the project, Bill and the entire team did an outstanding job and were a pleasure to work with.
In September of 2013, I began speaking with 6 different contractors that we had identified through Angie's List.  Bill quickly distinguished his company as the one that was most responsive, customer-centric, versatile and attentive to detail.
Over the fall and winter of 2013 / 2014 Bill worked closely with us on concept, materials and schedule.  While the other contractors' orientation toward particular building materials made them "one-dimensional" in their creative processes, the versatility of Outdoor Life's portfolio enabled us to come up with a unique, brick-bordered exposed-aggregate concrete patio, with a natural-gas brick fire pit and brick and granite kitchen that completely fulfilled our vision for the project.  To ensure that we were satisfied with our selection of patio concrete, Bill actually manufactured 4 separate 2' x 2' samples that we could view in our back yard to dial-in the specific size and color of the aggregate.  In fact, Bill's dedication to customer satisfaction went "above and beyond" in this regard, bringing us an additional concrete sample at 9:00 PM the night before the concrete pour to ensure 100% satisfaction.
Once the work began, Bill, Enrique, Remaldo and the entire team were faced with numerous unexpected challenges.  As the excavation of the project began, the team was faced with an unusually rocky soil that forced them to use jack-hammers and pick-axes to trench for the irrigation system.  Without complaining, the team put in unbelievably long, hot days doing the brutal manual labor to get the job done.
The next challenge the team faced was when the concrete vendor delivered the wrong aggregate for the patio.  Unfortunately, we were unable to discover that error until the patio had been poured.  This forced the team to manually tear out the entire patio and re-pour the entire patio . . . which, they did without complaint!
In addition, during the project we threw several new "variables" into Bill's equation (adding an additional door to the outdoor kitchen, increasing the size of the patio, re-designing planting beds, etc.).  Bill handled all of these changes in stride and worked with us on the corresponding, reasonable, cost adjustments.
The re-pouring of the patio, combined with our changes, then created scheduling issues with Bill's masonry, plumbing and electrical teams that could have impacted our scheduled completion date of July 4th.  However, Bill was able to coordinate all of the vendors, working weekend and evening hours, to ensure that the job was completed on time.  In fact, Bill and his plumbing team actually worked on the July 4th holiday to meet his commitment!
The finished project exceeded our expectations and has greatly enhanced the appearance and value of our home.  We highly recommend Outdoor Life.

  • When you have backed up sewage, responsiveness is critical.  Rapid-Rooter responded immediately.  Through a phone conversation they were able to advise us on actions to stop the immediate problem, allowing us to wait for a morning appt and avoid a more costly night-time charge.  We were leaving town for a couple of weeks and Rapid-Rooter figured out a way to redirect a crew and hand-dig our pipe to fix our issue as quickly as possible.  The crew was pleasant, professional and fast.  Thrilled with the service!

  • I was introduced to Ed by Doug Lynch of Exterior Additions as my family was planning the replacement of our deck.  With kids nearing teen age years, we found ourselves more and more outdoors and began to enjoy time spent around a fire pit.  It occurred to us we should add a stone patio to more adequately accommodate this.  When I discussed this with Doug, he said I work with this guy who does stone work and he can create anything with stone/concrete/pavers.
Ed came out to the house and discussed some ideas.  We selected the pavers of or choice and through his guidance we selected the site, size and features to make the patio both functional and a handsome addition to our home's exterior.  /With the completion of the deck, Ed moved in his equipment and quickly and efficiently got the job done over four sweltering 100 degree days.  They relocated the fill dirt to a low area in the back yard and spread it.  The site was left clean and as undisturbed as one could expect with such excavation.  He and his brothers are focused even to the most minute detail.  The end result was beautiful and masterfully executed.  He is in many ways the "MacGyver" of stone work.  He pointed out things such as slope and tree roots/tree types which could potentially upend stone and concrete projects and put that knowledge into the planning of this patio.
Before he left, we discussed future projects such as the replacement of a front walk and driveway.

  • Larry advised me that this project was not a good fit for his company. He advised me to find a handyman. Larry's first question over the phone when I called to schedule the appointment was, "What is the scope of the project?" I told Larry that the bathrooms needed a complete update. I felt that Larry would not perform the work because I do not live in a subdivision, and I am not installing granite tops, marble floors, porcelain tub and shower, cherry-wood bath cabinets. etc. I live on a nice street; however, the house is small. If I used fine materials, I would price myself out of my neighborhood's market, and I would not recoup the money upon selling the house. I have made several updates/improvements and have scheduled a new roof to be installed in a couple of weeks and new floors to be installed in late January 2008. The bathrooms need to be updated, and I want to use the best company that I can find to do it.
  • They got the job done in 2 days with inspection. It was typical cleanup and I had to do some work to get my lawn back to shape. They sent 3 people out to do the job.
