I take all of my pets to 10th Street (5 dogs and 1 cat). In the past few years, I have had my dogs in for eye surgeries, anal gland surgery, spay, declawing, urinary tract surgery, urinary tract and kidney infections, as well as routine visits for annual shots and check-ups. I have also consulted with Dr. Hayes about end-of-life care for a geriatric dog. This most recent visit was for annual shots for a large setter mix dog with a shy disposition. My vet on this visit was Dr. Heidi Leder.
I have found the practice in general to be exemplary. I resisted going to the practice for a while because it is considered one of the more expensive in town, but having been a client for the past 4 years, I can see why. The staff is kind and patient. They are willing to answer my questions and never seem bothered to do so. I have also had the pleasure of speaking at length with Dr. Hayes, Dr. Denmark, and Dr. Wyatt, and all of them have been excellent: frank and honest about difficult issues, but also completely empathetic to that difficulty from the pet owner's perspective. Every vet I've ever worked with at 10th Street seems to truly care about both the pet owner AND the pet. I never feel like I'm being "sold" something or like they don't have time for me. In my most recent visit, I brought my dog Achilles in for a routine annual exam and shots. He is a shy dog around strangers, but Dr. Leder and her technician were both willing to take things slowly and made every effort to make what could have been a horrifying experience for Achilles, just a little unpleasant (which is excellent, in my opinion). The $187 fee included the exam, rabies, bordatella, and other shots, heartworm test, fecal test, and 6 months of Heartgard meds. I am completely happy with my decision to take my pets to 10th Street, and every visit I make only confirms that it was the right choice.
