    Studio K Custom Redesign
Studio K did an amazing job! Our kitchen looked dated and worn before they rebuilt cabinets for us and restored some of the furniture that had been passed down from my parents. They listened to what we wanted and also knew what would look best in our space. Good people & good price.

    Furniture by Lowell
I contacted a few furniture places, but there was an overall unwillingness to work on recliners (whether I would bring the broken part in or not). Furniture by Lowell was willing to do the repair, but wanted me to bring the failed part in. Since this was relatively easy, I was happy to do so (and it was certainly better than paying round-trip travel time for such a job). They took a look at it and provided an estimate that I found acceptable. I had to provide a fairly steep deposit (percentage-wise); I suspect it had to do with it being a small job that required a lot of skilled attention. Versus the cost of replacement, I was certainly happy to give them a shot. They finished in less time than they expected, and called me when it was done. When I picked it up, I saw that they had replaced the broken particleboard with plywood, moved the original upholstery and mounting points to the new board. An initial inspection satisfied me that the upholstery looked good and the mounts looked correct. When I got it home, I found that one of the mounting points was off (enough to make remounting difficult but not impossible) and the upholstery was a little bit off (I could see that it was not perfectly aligned). Once I had it remounted, it looked good enough that I had to look closely to see the offset in the upholstery, and the mechanism worked properly. It looked good (not perfect), and it worked properly again. Overall a good result, I think. Hopefully I do not need such a repair again, but I would be willing to go back if I do.

I highly recommend Roy and Linda of Decorator's Showcase for any upholstery work you need done. They picked up my cushions the day I called and returned them when they said they would. Their work is impeccable; my cushions look brand new. Their price was very reasonable and they even offered to go to the fabric store and pick up the fabric I selected. Roy and Linda are so easy to work with and I look forward to using them again. They provide great service, a great price and a quality product

    The Appliance Center
I purchased all of my appliances from them 18 years ago and was very satisfied. My refrigerator "died" last week so I went straight back to them. I really try to purchase locally. Well, they are as good as I remembered. They found a perfect replacement for me at a great price. The delivery personnel were wonderful. Why would anyone buy from a "big box" store when such a great local company is here in Durham?

The first piece of furniture they upholstered for me was perfect. I then let them upholster my 1940s couch and I spent over $700 in antique fabric alone. The experience was terrible. They said it was not enough fabric making me purchase more from one of there contractors. I do not have money to throw away, like to have the things in home to look nice to display and enjoy them. The experience was horrible. I will never recommend this company.

    Refab Wood LLC
Mitch et al built most of the furniture in our home. The latest has moved up in our list of favorite pieces. My husband and I saw dog crates built from reclaimed wood. We approached Mitch with a picture and the idea for what we wanted and once again they 'WOWED' us! See for your self!

This was a very disappointing experience. When I ordered an extension for my desk I was promised a two-week turnaround but the furniture did not arrive for eight weeks. The delay was due partially to their mistake in building the piece backwards and having to start over. I initially asked that the teak veneer on my desk be matched as closely as possible but no one bothered to take a desk drawer to use as a sample. I agreed to have the piece made out of ash because of its lower price, but I was never told that the wood would not be smooth enough to be a writing surface. In addition the piece developed a crack within a week of its arrival. In an email to me the owners claimed no responsibility stating that furniture can crack when there are "drastic environmental changes". This piece was moved from their workshop 14 miles, just to the next town. What environmental change? In all of my years of owning fine new and antique furniture that has been moved in and out of state several times, I have never experienced any cracks in any wood. They did offer to epoxy the crack which would discolor the area around it and suggested, as an option, to sit and wait to wait to see if the crack got bigger. The owners pointed me to their policy which reads: "we do not accept returns or refunds based on the nature of solid wood-this includes stress cracks . . . " They go on to say that to repair the piece would cost the same price as what I was originally charged. Too bad they didn't show me their policy list prior to my ordering the piece; too bad I didn't think to ask. Too bad that people now have to worry about hand-made furniture cracking.

Paul's work is amazing. He's creative, extremely knowledgeable and skilled, an artist. And he's very professional and easy to work with. He sent us photographs along the way so we could see how the pieces were coming. And he always kept appointments and was on time. Paul works with one customer at a time so once he starts your project, you know that you won't have to wait a long time until it's finished. Highly recommend.

    Truckin Movers Corporation
Truckin' Movers did an excellent job. From the in-home estimate to the last box, they were very professional. We were amazed at how fast the move was completed. They were also very careful with our furniture and TVs so that everything arrived in one piece and scratch-free.

Mitchell and his team were incredible and I would hire them again in a minute. They are not the cheapest out there, but you get the quality you pay for and I know the table they built will be passed down for generations to come. My husband and I are tough customers as we have high-quality expectations and Mitchell and his team delivered. The communication was easy and straight forward. Building custom takes time, so be patient as it was worth the wait!
