  • What a relief to have such a wonderfully reliable, kind, and compassionate dog walker visit my 2 crazy dogs each day. They absolutely look forward to her visits, to the extra pets/cuddles, and to getting some zoomies out. We've been clients of Lucy's Pet Care for years now, and I'm not sure what we'd do without them.

  • Dee Dee and April were wonderful!   I was a little nervous at first because my dogs are my babies and this was our first time doing this but I was so pleased because I received texts and pictures with updates throughout the vacation.  I could tell that my dogs were being cared for and loved while I wasn't there.   When we arrived home there were even more details in the daily log that they completed at each visit. I will certainly be using them again!

  • When we returned after our four nights away; our dogs were happy, relaxed and healthy. And while we were away, we felt relaxed and confident that all was well at home. Lucy's Pet Care offers an excellent service at reasonable prices.

  • Dee Dee and her team are great.  I have been using her service for a couple of years now--initially for pet-sitting for travel but as my dog has moved through increasingly advanced stages of heart disease, she has been providing daily visits during the work week to help with the need for increased daily attention and to administer mid-day medications.  I'm not sure how I would have managed without her team.   They provide a log of each visit that details what happened which has been critical as I've been assessing my dog's health status.  I'm very appreciative of their willingness to walk through this process with me.  I also like they that express how much they enjoy my dog and what interactions made the visit special.
I am very happy to have access to a reliable pet-sitting service for when I travel so that I can keep my dog in his environment and know that he'll get high quality care as well as loving interactions with people who like dogs.  It seems like the best of all possible worlds for a pet.
I'm very appreciative of the high standards Dee Dee sets.  Her application process is quite extensive in documenting the pet's schedule, needs, likes and dislikes, temperament, etc.  I feel like I am getting care customized to my pet.
I'm also very impressed with how knowledgeable Dee Dee is--frequently when I talk to her about care for my dog, I come away with tips that she has gathered from both her interactions with my dog specifically as well as her general experience with a wide variety of animals.

  • Kim is fantastic.  From the moment we met her, she was professional, organized and loving to our dogs.  She is incredibly responsive and always does a stellar job.  When we had our child, we were not sure when we would need her services and she was quick to reply and help out as much as she could- this really helped us gain peace of mind, knowing that our dogs were well cared for-- even on short notice.  She goes above an beyond- if our mail is by our front door, she will bring it in.  Our dogs are rather excited and she handles them with great care and enthusiasm.  I highly recommend Kim.

  • I just call Errand Girl and let her know what I need - the days and times and she assigns an errand girl to me. They always call to confirm and let me know they are on the way. They are prompt and friendly and are my extra pair of hands when I need them. This last time I used Errand Girl she helped me organize clothes for a consignment sale. They hung and tagged items and will be doing a drop off at the sale for me.

  • I had a negative experience with a walker not showing up at the agreed upon time on what was supposed to be the person?s first day walking my dog. The short story: based on my experience, there is little management of individual dog walkers by Raleighwood. If you have a good walker, you may never have an issue. The problems will likely arise if your walker is unreliable. I also recommend doing an internet search of this company's name and reading the WRAL story that describes how clients' personal information has been handled in the past, and confirming to your satisfaction that there are procedures in place to protect any information that you email out about when your dog needs a walk or pet sitting/when you will not be home.

I came home to check how the new walker?s first walk with my dog had gone, but it was obvious no one had been by to walk my dog. I contacted the walker to verify that the person was starting that day. I heard back from the walker two hours later (at that point, only about two hours before I would be home for the day) ? the person had purportedly had car trouble and was on their way to walk my dog at that point.

Maybe the person did have car trouble. This would be understandable. However, I don?t know why the person would not have let me know - after all, my dog would have still needed to be let out, even if this particular walker had car trouble. I was unsure at this point whether this person was trustworthy and contacted the company to ask about their procedure for this type of situation (i.e., a walker having car trouble). The company did not answer their listed phone number, and I was directed to either leave a voice message or send a text message to a (704) area code number. I did send a text message and was contacted back almost immediately by an office manager, but I found this arrangement odd. (They continued to contact me by text message even after I sent an email indicating I was not comfortable communicating about my situation this way.)

When the office manager called me, she verbally informed me that the company had previously had issues with this walker not showing up to walk clients? dogs, but that they had given this walker another chance. She asked if she could try to find me another walker. It made me uncomfortable that if this was true, the company had known about dogs not getting walked and continued to send this person to new clients without checking on the walker. I declined a new walker and said I did not need the service anymore, and asked that the walker in question simply leave my key inside my house that day before leaving and lock the doorknob (since the walker was supposedly on the way to walk my dog). However, my key had not been returned when I got home that day, although the office manager indicated to me that she had instructed the walker to return it. Why wouldn?t the employee return my key after being asked to? This was very frustrating.

After a lot of effort, Raleighwood did make sure that my key was returned the next day, to their credit. But it did take a lot of effort on their part.  After my experience, I was told I should not receive an invoice. Thankfully, I haven't. I do not know much about the company?s structure, but the parent company Queen City Pet Sitting appears to be located in Charlotte, and it seems that at the very least there is a lack of oversight of walkers in the Triangle area.

This was my experience and I?m just one person. But since I learned about them on Angie?s List I felt that I should share what happened and give others the opportunity to ask a lot of questions before deciding on a dog walker. I let the company know I was unhappy and that I would let others know about my experience, so perhaps they made some positive changes after their experience with me. I hope others? experiences are different ? I would hate to think that the company is sending out unreliable walkers on a larger scale. After all, my dog is like a member of my family and I give him the best care that I can. I look for a similar level of care and concern from a dog walker.

  • They gave me a range which was around $112 for four visits.  They seemed really knowledgeable and they have been around for a while.  They are really kind of one of my neighbors that live in the neighborhood around me.  I met the lady and she was really nice.  I thought that the price was appropriate for the service that they were going to provide for me because I have a lot of pets; three cats and two dogs.  They will be just coming to see them all.  They do provide dog walking but my male dog is really aggressive.  So I didn’t want them to walk him.  They have more services but that was all I needed.  They emailed me back and forth and asked really good questions

  • We are so glad we found her.  She truly loves our dogs and they always go crazy when they see her.  She is very dependable and a very down to earth person.  I hardly ever allow someone I don't know into my home, but I do trust Dee Dee.  She is more than happy to stop by and have a meet and greet so everyone can get to know one another.  If she's on vacation, her assistant Danny fills in for her.  She let us know about Danny and brought him by so we could meet him prior to taking her vacation.  Danny is a down to earth person who is also very responsible.  If you need a kind, trustworthy, affordable pet sitter to care for any of your pets, I highly recommend Dee Dee.  Our dogs are always happy to see her.

  • I loved Susan and all the walkers. The dog loved them. They did an excellent job and can be counted on. My mother loved the dog watching services. They even handled her behavior disordered pet!
