Odds N Ends Tree Service (Richard Hooper)
They showed up late, didn't bring a trailer to haul the wood, about halfway through the job they started asking for favors "can I get some soft-drinks", "Can we get some waters", "I know we didn't talk about this, but can you pay in cash? We get paid every day and cash works best. As much cash as you can get", "We didn't know this tree was so big, can you keep some of this wood?" (no). They left the jobsite 2 times during the day (and once again after finished), and it turned out that they were driving deeper into my neighborhood and dumping the lumber on my neighbors posted land (directly under the posted sign)! Unbelievable! I had gathered and paid them $1000 in cash and $600 by check. I had to write two checks because I had written the first to "Odds N Ends Tree Service". However, the alleged owner "Richard Hooper" asked me to rewrite it because he hadn't really opened an account in the company name. And, it turns out, there is no company registered in NC. Which means their other lie is that they were "FULLY INSURED". Once my neighbors (and my security cameras) told me what was going on with the wood, I called the "owner", Richard Hooper, and confronted him. He denied of course. However, he didn't realize that the tree rings are like fingerprints, and there was an exact match between my stumps and the logs they illegally dumped. I talked to him a total of 3 times afterwards and offered to NOT cancel the check if he would come and remove the wood he illegally dumped at my neighbors property. He did not respond or come back. I called the bank, cancelled the check, and called the police to report the crime (serious littering and dumping, intentional, by a commercial operation, 120 logs (each one is a littering charge), over 500 lbs, that they dumped in 3 separate batches and commission of the crime with a motor vehicle. (all of this is important to the NC littering laws). The fines are quite steep. Plus breech of contract, operating without a license, etc. I had to get a trailer, 2 other people and go reload all the wood, bring it back to my house and cut it up, then offer it to whoever who wants it. I probably spend another 20 hours cleaning up their mess and dealing with neighbors and lumber and chainsaws. Recommend to avoid these people at all costs. Real shady, fly-by-night operation, and probably gone to another neighborhood to defraud others (most of my neighborhood is now well aware of these guys). By the way, they were just cruising the neighborhood looking for trees and victims, they knocked on my door and unfortunately, I gave them a try. Buyer Beware! If you meet them, I would suggest you call Officer Cooper of the Cornelius PD! They are due some significant fines!

    Alex's Tree Service
After trying to reach 2 other tree companies without response, we called Alex's based on Angie's List recommendation. Thomas called within 24 hours and set up a time to do a "walk-through" 2 days later. Due to busyness and our vacation, we scheduled the work 30 days out.. Alex and Thomas came early the morning work was to begin to go over all the trees and bushes we wanted to have trimmed or removed, to be sure we were all on the same page. They spent about 45 minutes with us. Later that day Alex came with his trucks, crew and began the work. They were very competent and consulted with us any time there was a question. We also involved the neighbors, since our trees were hanging over their pool area. Alex and crew worked in spite of showers and came back early Sat. morning, trimming quietly until after 8 a.m. per our HOA regulations. Again, we were consulted during the morning, making sure we were completely satisfied as work progressed. Major branches were removed, letting much more light in. Trees were shaped beautifully. We were completely satisfied with all the work and will call them again.

    The Davey Tree Expert Company
The reps from Davey Tree service that I dealt with were all extremely knowledgeable, professional and easy to deal with. I have read other comments that considered this service a little pricey, but I am a firm believer of the "you get what you pay for" philosophy. The degree of expertise, the developed systems that were employed and the caliber of workmanship that Davey Tree Service offers are a level of service that far surpasses what I have previously encountered in this industry.

    Landman's Tree Service
Jason and his crew did an amazing job. They performed the work quickly and removed all debris leaving no damage to the yard, fence, or nearby trees. I will be calling him again next time I need a tree removed.

We've only had two treatments so far, so I can't say whether we will see results. However, they show up when they say they will and one technician provided us with a very thorough analysis of current issues along with advice on corrections and treatments. Only time will determine whether we would hire them again, and I rated a B for the same reason: not yet sure of results.

    Omega Tree Service
They provided me with an estimate to have a tree pressure at all for an immediate decision. I called them a week later to schedule the removal. Both on the day they came out for the estimate and the tree removal day, they called me when they were about 45 minutes away to let me know when they would arrive. They did a nice job removing the tree, grounding down the stump and cleaning up afterwards. In fact, two of my neighbors hired them for tree removal, as well.

Huntersville Rental & Landscaping Services Inc
Russell  was great from the very beginning.  He responded promptly to my email request and set up a time to come look at the trees.  He even called on his way to come by.  Russell responded with a quote in 24 hours.  I picked Russell to do the job because he was courteous and honest and fair.  Russell was even able to fit me in to a small opening in his schedule the same week.  He called the morning of the appointment to give me a time frame of his arrival.  Russell and his team showed up and all greeted me with smiling faces.  They were all so nice to have around!  The job was done in about an hour and they cleaned up all debris to take off site.  Russell was even nice enough to help me out with a few other things in the yard that I didn't have the tools to do myself (a chainsaw!).  I was also looking for a company to do my regular yard work and I knew before they were done that I would be giving the job to Russell.  I have other yard work that needs to be done in the future and it will all go to Huntersville Rental & Landscaping.  I am very happy with their work!

    Layton's Tree & Crane Service
When I say trimmed trees I really mean trimmed trees - There were tons of dead branches in these trees, many of which were hanging over my house. The work was all done in a small backyard with fences and power lines in the way not to mention the house itself. When I first heard how much it was going to cost I was surprised but after watching them do the job and all the machinery required I realized it was actually a pretty good deal. They took more than 10 branches out of these giant trees and everyone of those branches could have been a good sized tree in a normal yard. They had to use a crane to do the job and let me tell you it was quite a sight to see a tree being lifted over your house and into the chipper. We sat back in lawn chairs and watched and really got an education on what is involved in "tree trimming"

    Morgan Tree Service
Don Morgan had a long career and recently retired as the head arborist for Mecklenburg County. I first met him in 1992 and had him clean up the trees on my lot after "Hugo" damage. He has done several other projects over the years.
Don Morgan recently did an excellent job removing a large hickory, limbing several large trees and pruning back several crape myrtles. He is an expert climber and does not use spikes on trees and is very careful not to damage surrounding landscape. Quality 5 Star service for very reasonable prices. .Highly recommended.
