Cabinet Making reviews in Concord

Worked with one of their designers, Tim, who was wonderful. Really good ideas for some minor configuration changes that will make a huge difference in the usable space in the kitchen. He was very pleasant, professional, and nice to work with. Cabinets were delivered within the expected time frame (actually, a little early, which was fine). Have not yet been installed, but have been unpacked and all are in good shape after shipping - nothing broken, no damage. Cabinets seems to be very well made, and we are very happy with how they look ..... although they are sitting in the middle of the living room at the moment! Fell in love with the bright white/brushed grey glaze color, and it should look amazing in our new kitchen. Very happy with whole process, and with all communications with I would definitely recommend them, and would use them again in the future.

    Sal's Contracting, Inc
Outstanding!  Sal walked the house, evaluated the work required to make the house ready for a new tenant, and provided me with an estimate.  He did exactly what he said he would do.  The quality of his work is great and he finished the work within the time promised.  Sal was flexible and professional managing the completion of additional work I identified throughout the project.   He kept me informed of the progress of the project until completion.  He also coordinated well with my cleaning service and other people that visited the house.
I know I can count on Sal to do what it takes to get the job done.  I will hire him for future projects and recommend him for any handyman or home improvement project.

    Kirby's Custom Cabinets
A very polite Jim and Betty Kirby came out to see the location in our kitchen where we wanted to place the cabinet. Jim took complete measurements to take back to the shop. Several e-mails went back and forth concerning color to match existing cabinets, drawings of cabinet, hardware, date of delivery, etc. In a very short time, days we are talking, the cabinet was being set up in our kitchen. WOW! What a perfect fit. We could not be happier. It looks like it was built when the kitchen was -- only much better. The craftsmanship is SUPURB. We could not have asked for more. Kirby did everything very well including keep us up to date as to when we could expect delivery and even used one of our cabinet draw fronts to make certain that the new cabinet finish color would match the existing cabinets.

    Kirby's Custom Cabinets
The cabinet we requested was very unique because of its size and overall details.  The Kirby Company craftsmen built a cabinet that is approximately 4 feet wide x 7 feet high and 16 inches deep that perfectly matches our existing cabinets in materials, color and finish.  The installation took approximately three hours and the workmanship both in the construction of the cabinet and at our home was extremely well done.  We were very pleased with the final product.  Initially, Betty and Jim Kirby came to our home and talked with my wife and me about where we wanted this cabinet to be built and what we wanted it to do once it was in place.  Jim took very detailed dimensions so he would not have to make a second trip.  Once we agreed on price, they began to obtain the materials and develop a drawing of the cabinet that we reviewed.  In reviewing the drawing we saw a note that referred to the side panels of the cabinet being a paintable finish.  Once we saw that I communicated our concern to Betty and Jim via an email and indicated that we had asked for an all wood exterior finish on all sides of the cabinet.  Even though Jim's staff had started to build the cabinet with sides that would be painted, they agreed that they had misunderstood our request and agreed to change to a full wood finish on all exposed sides of the cabinet and that there would be no extra charges for this change from the Kirbys.  The work of building the cabinet at their shop took approximately two weeks and then Betty called to announce that they would be delivering the finished cabinet the following week.  The cabinet was delivered the day that Betty said it would be and with great care for all our existing walls, doors, floors, and other finishes in the house, the installation crew gently moved this very large cabinet into place.  The lead carpenter, Greg, expertly removed existing wood baseboard and moldings and then with the help of his assistants, attached the cabinet to the wall of the house and proceeded to masterfully trim out the base, sides and top of the cabinet to match all the details of the other existing cabinets in our kitchen.  The only thing we had to do ahead of time was to have the telephone company modify our existing phone outlet so that the cabinet could be placed over the old outlet and purchase the handles for the cabinet doors. Greg installed the door hardware when the cabinet was fully in place.  When the work was completed Greg cleaned up the work area before leaving.  We also had compared the price that the Kirby Co. had given us with  prices from two other firms and found the Kirby's price to be very competitive.  We selected the Kirbys to do the worked based on the reviews that they had received before in Angie's List and the feeling that we got about their attention to detail and the fact that they seemed to really know what they were talking about when they came to our home to measure and discuss the project.  We're just so happy with all that they did for us.

Griffith Contracting & The Cabinet Guys
We contacted the owner Ed to come give us a quote on either refinishing or replacing the cabinets in an investment property we were working on. He was one of the first companies I got to actually show up and give me a quote. From the start, Ed set himself apart from the other companies we talked with by the amount of quality time he spent helping to talk and think everything through. That first appointment, before they even had the job, he spent around 2 hours with me. I could tell Ed had a lot of experience with cabinets and it made me feel secure he would do a good job. We decided to replace the cabinets and due to our budget with this house, we could not afford custom cabinets, so we went with a manufacturer built boxes. Ed put them together along with the doors, crown, toe kick, etc. I have been told they are good quality cabinets and Ed gave us a fair price. They look great! We did have another quote for a little less, but I am sure the quality was inferior and I know we would not have had the top notch service Ed provided. The main plus was having a professional like Ed to ensure everything went smoothly and he make sure everything turns out looking wonderful. We are very pleased with Ed and the Cabinet Guys and highly recommend them. We will definitely be using them again on our next project! Thanks Ed!

    Sustainable Contractors
This project was a total removal of the old kitchen and everything replaced. We removed everything in the old kitchen except for taking down the wall between laundry room & pantry. The man that came to remove the wall was slow and did not have the proper removal equipment. We were very glad we had removed everything from the old kitchen. We paid the deposit on 3/31/14 and were advised it would be a 4 to 6 week project once construction started. The timeline was very important to us as during the remodel we had no kitchen or laundry facilities. Once the deposit was paid the cabinets were ordered and on average they take about 2 weeks to arrive. Construction began on 4/1/14.   Prior to construction, we were advised that once the cabinets arrived they would verify all the cabinets were correct before installation would start. When the cabinets were installed one cabinet was missing. This resulted in an entire week with no construction taking place. When the missing cabinet did finally arrive, it was damaged.  We understand this is not Sustainable fault however, if the cabinets were verified prior to construction; this problem could have been minimized. They use all sub-contractors several were excellent and others were not. Our favorites were Robbie (excellent carpenter) , painters, granite guys, and electricians.  The cabinet installers were the worst. They started installing the cabinets got upset about something and walked off the job and never returned. Fortunately, Sustainable sent "Robbie" over and he did an excellent job picking up where the cabinet installers left off, in addition to installing the beautiful backsplash, flooring, and shelving  along with making numerous adjustments as needed.  Our floor was very unlevel and Robbie did an outstanding job leveling it up and installing the flooring. The granite we selected is beautiful. Sustainable has partnered with a first class granite company in Charlotte. We appreciate the help from Mike & Katie matching the granite, backsplash, and flooring. The granite installers cut and installed the granite to show off it's beauty. They also cut a threshold that Robbie installed between dining room and kitchen that adds beauty to the entryway.  We are delighted with our new kitchen. Stuart selected the sink and faucet and they were an excellent choice. Sustainable designed our kitchen layout with the requirements we provided. We are very pleased with the layout however, in the final design we did not have a cabinet for our trash can except for a very small one under the sink.  In addition, none of the rev-a-shelves fit above the microwave, refrigerator, and washer/dryer. This was a disappointment.  We are really enjoying the new pantry and the spice cabinets. The painters did an excellent job even working on Saturday to accommodate the timeline.  We love the recessed lighting and the undercabinet lights.

Clay's Custom Woodworking & Cabinet Shop
It took Mr. Clay approx. a year to build me a day bed. When he first
brought the bed over it was all in one piece and it wouldn't fit in the
front door. He had to take it back and disassemble it so he could get it
in the house.  When he brought the bed back on March 13, 2014, it was
approx. 6-8 inches too long and not tall enough for the 2nd mattress too
fit under.  I had told him the measurements of the mattresses before he
built the bed. He blamed the sorry work on his employes and said he was
firing them. He sent a man back the next day to pick up the bed to redo
it and cashed my check the next day.  Through the months he has
promised many times to bring me the bed but he hasn't. I talked to his
partner named GR . He said he was finishing up some projects to bring in
some money  for Mr. Clay because Mr. Clay was sick. I told him what had
happened to me and that Mr. Clay already had my money and my 4 year old
was still sleeping on a mattress on the floor!  GR decided that the
best thing to do was to send me a check in two weeks for $500.00. That
would have been June 6, 2014. They have not sent me a check and they
will not respond to my calls as of June 29, 2014. I have contacted the
BBB and the business will not respond to them either! I would never used
    this company again!

    ShelfGenie of Charlotte
I had Shelf Genie drawers in my previous house & they were a great selling point. Moving to Charlotte, even knowing this is just a 2 year stay for us, I had Shelf Genie install again within a month of moving in. I was happy with the professionalism of all who worked with me & I LOVE they are made in the USA. When we move again I will be calling Shelf Genie for another installation, can't imagine ever having a kitchen without them, it's a pleasure to open my cabinets to beautifully organized drawers to suite my cooking needs.

    Oliver Cupboards Fine Cabinetry
This company is fantastic.  Charlie is great.  Spent a ton of time with us working on our kitchen design.  Worked with us to ensure the design fit with our budget.  We are planning on having them install our kitchen in the next couple months.  I highly recommend this company.

    ShelfGenie of Charlotte
Everything went as expected and better than expected. A threshold was keeping the pantry door from opening to its full capacity.  The threshold was removed, the door trimmed and the threshold was reinstalled without additional charge.  This allowed for wider pantry shelves to be installed.  All very professionally done.
