"
showed up on time to see what I needed and provided a written quote the next day. The quote included model numbers so I could do my own" research about the equipment. I accepted his quote. We had to wait for the gas company to install the gas line to the house. Their estimated installation date was "about a month from now."
was able to adjust his schedule to arrive when the gas line was complete. The installation did not go exactly according to plan, but it all worked out. He expected to have four guys working on it, and it would take one day. Two of his guys were sick that day. The two guys who installed the furnace stayed late to get the furnace working so I would have heat that night. They came back the next morning to install the air conditioner. The installation included correcting some errors in the duct work (made by a previous contractor) where it connects to the furnace.
knew exactly what to do to quiet the noise from the air flowing through some of the ducts. The furnace is working well. I am happy with the installation. (I am an engineer, and very finicky about the work done in my house.)

Hiring an HVAC service

The awkward-to-pronounce acronym stands for "heating, ventilation and air conditioning" which in many respects are completely different processes.

HVAC Maintenance

You can help your heating and cooling systems work more efficiently and last longer by tending to regular maintenance. Some things, like changing the furnace filter, can easily be done by the homeowner.

No one can tell you what another contractor will charge. There is no one set price for heating and air-conditioning equipment installation. One of the major factors that affect your price is its size. No one can tell you what size equipment you’ll need without doing a load analysis on the home. That calculation essentially determines the insulation value of the home, i.e... What is the heat gain of the home, what are some other prevailing factors like room equipment, solar gain, or natural shading? You can compare prices between contractors to gauge what your cost would be between contractors, but this is a little tricky to do. Let me explain a little more. Let's say you get an installation quote of $5050.00 from contractor “A” who employs three technicians and operates two trucks. He also runs his operation from home. Contractor “B” charges $6200.00 to do the same job but has 10 employees and 5 trucks. He works out of a rental unit and offers his people a little bit better of a benefit package to recruit highly motivated workers. Everything else being equal (equipment size, SEER rating, furnace efficiency, brand name and additional material—other things that affect the price), is either one of these contractors defrauding you? No, their overhead is different. All these things play into a company’s labor rate. Just be aware of your expectations when it comes to performing any kind work in your home. If you want to pay an extremely low-inexpensive price below the average installation cost in your area then you are highly likely to get the quality of work that comes with that cost. Remember cheaper is not better!

?
The only thing of importance, is the hvac professional you choose to use. Alot of manufacturer's pieces are built relatively the same, and will last about the same amount of time. The thing that matters most is what you can not compare between companies, and that is the installation. Purchasing a system is not like purchasing a car, where no matter where you buy it, they are all the same. Each installation is different, and usually what you are paying for is the level of expertise, and quality of the installation, the company who will actual give you the warranty, and the comfort that you will receive. Manufacturers warranties disappear every day. They always have a loophole where they can get out of paying, but your local dealer wants to keep you happy for future work, and to protect his reputation in the communiy. Look up 4 year old Nordyne and Goodman warranty problems. Choose the HVAC professional first. It will cost you the least in the long run. I have had to totally redo plenty of installations that were just performed because of an uncomfortable customer, and a system that keeps breaking down. The equipment is only as good as it's installation, and over 70% are not installed correctly.
?
Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

?
I'd rate them equal,or close,as with several other brands. I'd be more concerned about the difference in installation and service down the road. Difficult to determine the difference ,but asking for detailed info about their installation, may convince you to choose one over the other.

The Dept. of Energy states that poor installations can cause a 30% efficiency loss! Plus with Gas their are saftey issues, venting properly etc.,and of couse the need for a "low Level" Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
?
I think maybe you are confusing SEER, which is an efficiency-related rating (higher SEER means more effective use of the electric power used to compress the gas), and TONS rating, which is a measure of the total cooling power of the system. (Tons used to mean how many tons per hour of ice was used in evaporative cooling building systems - a Refrigeration or Cooling Ton equals 12,000 Btu/Hour of energy exchange. A BTU, which is another antique measure but still used, is the energy needed to change the temperature of a pound of water one degree fahrenheit. Unfortunately, because of varying humidity and evaporation, this is not readily related to house air heating or cooling without a lot of assumptions and some computations. Relating this to today's world - the Manuals BayAreaAc referred to account for all these energy conversions and determine an estimated cooling (or heating) requirement for your specific house. The type of construction, solar exposure, general climatic conditions such as average temperatures, humidity, and hottest and coldest normal ambient temperatures and desired inside temperture are all taken into account in the more sophisticated versions of the analysis, so there is no "standard", though a rough old rule of thumb was about 1 ton of cooling per 500SF of house. Obviously, this was a WAG only because it did not account for insulation, type of roofing, whether you live in Alaska or Miami, etc. The ACCA manuals do a very simplified form of evaluation to arrive at a "design", which generally will be adequate. OF course, highly precise calculations are not really needed because A/C units generally come in even ton ratings - so if you are at say 2.6 ton requirement you will be getting a 3-ton unit anyway. SEER ratings are not a direct measure of efficiency, but the relative difference between ratings gives you good idea of the unit's relative efficency in using electricity - so a 16 SEER should be about 19% more efficient (so roughly comparable lower electricity bill) than a comparably sized 13 SEER unit. 13 SEER is the lowest efficiency currently allowed to be built for general use, 19 SEER is about the highest efficiency made by pretty much all manufacturers, and about 25 SEER is the highest rated though very pricey shelf-item units, though special construction custom units can reach about 30 SEER. Note however, like any government sponsored rating, much of it is hooey when you get down to it - for instance, SEER ratings are figured based on 80 degree inside air temp and 82 degrees outside, when that is far from the normal case of mid to low seventies inside and high eighties or above outdoors. This makes the absolute SEER rating meaningless, but relative numbers still have meaning in comparing units. Note these efficiency ratings are for conventional air conditoners and heat pumps working in ambient air conditions. Ground sourced Geothermal or lake/river exchange cooling units, though initially more expensive in most cases, can greatly exceed the air-exchange unit efficiencies because they are exchanging heat with cold natural water rather than with a high-temperature outside air, and instead of continually compressing a gas are just circulating cold water. I worked on one geothermal cooling project which had almost infinite efficiency, which of course makes no sense - but the only power was for sensors and a control valve as the water flow was single-pass under gravity flow, so no power was used to circulate the water.

The techs were good, though I wasn't sure why two showed up for this service. They were able to determine that the boiler system had not been winterized and was thoroughly trashed as a result of water freezing in the pipes. This is a bank owned property so I had no info at the start to work with. They were able to confirm that the regular water system was ok though. They were efficient and knew what they were doing but they never really were clear about how much what they were doing was going to cost. The woman I talked with on the phone told me it would be $98 for the service call and that the techs would give me a more detailed price on site based on the work. I was a bit dismayed when the total for less that two hours work without using any materials was $380. But I had to get the testing done ASAP and they were the only company I talked to that could get out during that week. Overall I was left with a bad impression and would not recommend them for any work without a free estimate and fixed price in advance of any services.

A salesman from
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and A/C had persistently called our home at least 5 times with an offer of an A/C tune-up for $39.95. Two technicians completed this service in approximately 15 mins. They then recommended replacement of our UV low-volt light system (2 single units) with a dual probe system with high volt. (I was told that the low volt was not adequate and that one of the two UV lights was not working.) They also recommended and explained a cell ionization system to improve the quality of the air. Both recommended systems cost $1493 a piece, for a total of $2986. I asked if they would leave the product boxes so I could read about the products we were to receive. The technicians said they could not do that as the boxes had to be handed back in order to be replaced in their truck inventory. They completed the installation of both products in approximately 1/2 hr. I believe the installations were done properly. The technicians did not discuss the tune-up part of the visit; however, they did leave a check-off sheet with the tune-up results. Later, I did an online
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
for further information. I was interested in determining which products were installed on our system (the invoice was unclear) and the prices of the products if that could be learned. I searched A/C manufacturing and distribution sites and I also did a
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
on Amazon. Amazon lists costs for both of my purchased products. Based on this information, it appeared that "
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
" had substantially inflated their prices. In my mind, the pricing structure seemed unfair. (I also wondered whether I was misled as to the need of these products.) While researching, I also called three A/C contractors to obtain quotes. Two of these contractors quoted significantly lower prices for the jobs I had done - one as low as a $1000 less than I had paid. I called "
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
" as I wanted to discuss my perception that I was overcharged for the work the company had completed. I spoke with a man named
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
said things such as: " the costs given on Amazon were totally wrong;" "I should have negotiated the pricing prior to purchasing;" "his technicians did not 'run' the pricing by him." He then offered up a new price of $2400.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
asked me what would "put this whole thing to bed," - a $-amount that would "put this thing to bed." I was unprepared to given him a particular $-amount and said so and said that as the customer I had expected to be treated fairly. I also said I would be contacting Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau. At that point in the conversation (a conversation that lasted approximately 5 mins), he re-stated the original price I was charged - $2986 - and hung up on me. To my knowledge I believe I was overcharged for these two system products. I also feel that
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
treated me rudely and disrespectfully both in conversation and in his abruptly hanging up on me. I will not recommend
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and Air Conditioning to other customers and will not be using this company in the future.

Bar nun, these guys are the absolute best HVAC company I have ever seen or can even imagine one that could be any better. No joke, these guys are phenomenal!!!! How have I come to this conclusion? Many reasons: First, for a long time before I became a customer of
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
& Associates, I saw how professional and meticulous their work was compared to other HVAC companies in Central Kentucky. I worked for a company that cleaned air vents and saw that
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's HVAC work was at a higher caliber above the rest. To give you an understanding of how much a great business they are, it's like watching this year's 2014/2015

men's basketball team and how much of a joy it is to see the CATS
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and & Associates installed a 5" filter cabinet when they installed the new
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
HVAC system in our home. This was included in the price as well, which was even lower than other HVAC companies in Lexington. I talked to one of the installers when they were installing our HVAC unit as I noticed that they were very concerned with doing it right the first time and going above and beyond to make a satisfied customer. I could easily tell that the
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his son
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
(Owners of the company) expect high standards. Even more so, the high standards were accompanied by service that I have not seen anywhere else (and we have had a ton of work done on our home). Specifically, it was like they treated us like family. We were not another customer, but a real person, that they really cared about and I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. Our heat works great, our air is being purified by a Guardian Air purification system and the 5" filter and the air flow is amazing. If you want the best, I guarantee you that you cannot go wrong with these guys. To put it another way, if my MOM had an HVAC issue, I would tell her to use
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
because they are the best and I would want the best for her!!!!! Their website is: http://www.berniehartung.com/

Every part of working with this company was a pleasure. This was one of several companies contacted through Angie's list to provide quote for replacement of our HVAC system. First was Ms
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
who promptly contacted us pursuant to inquiry for scheduling an appointment. She was personable and very courteous and genuinely expressed an interest in assisting us. Next
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, President of the company contacted us to verify our appointment date then also called the day of to alert his arrival.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
is very professional young man who also seemed genuine in his attitude of service to the customer.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
accompanied me into the attic space to observe the system. He listened to my proposal of changing the duct routing from a single
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
line that ran the center of the attic which consumed all the available space there to a system which extended from the air handler around the outer perimeter of the attic space.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
negotiated the entire attic space measuring and taking notes of the ductwork, air handler and

placement. Once he finished in the attic,
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
measured the exterior and each living space inside that was to be heated/cooled.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
also gauged the output of the current system at each
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
. After he had completed his assessment and recording notes we sat and spoke about our desire to upgrade to a more efficient system since I had retired and we were now preparing for our golden honeymoon years.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
made a good suggestion of adding a
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
in our walk-in closet and indicated he would submit a quote to my email once he returned to the office an worked it up on the computer. I was very impressed with his knowledge and attitude, so much so that I had to go to their website and seek more information of this company that
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
represented. What I found was a beautifully arranged website which expressed a real desire to serve their customers. The website expressed a family atmosphere and introduces all the personnel as though each are equally important with all striving toward a common desire to serve the customer with an excellent product. I was really impressed. After seeing that I looked forward to their job quote.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
did as promised and submitted an excellent professionally prepared quote portfolio with various choices and prices to choose from. The quote reminded me of a dissertation one would prepare to brief a large organization board meet. It explained the necessary output air pressures to accommodate the space calculated. The efficiency and noise level of the various units offered to address our environment plus a detailed schematic of the duct line distribution to be installed. It was most impressive and provided all the information necessary to make an informed decision. There were incentives of discount based on payment method, available financing and a Angie's List customer coupon. I contacted
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and made an offer on one of the choices presented in the quote.
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
responded immediately accepting and we set a date for installation which was to take three or four days. Next the installation technicians
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
Pierce. They also called prior to arrival. They introduced themselves were perfect gentlemen and professional the entire time. We almost adopted them. They were very conscientious of satisfying and fulfilling the installation as outlined and agreed upon. The quality of their work was top grade. It took four days to complete the job for it was during the bad cold snap first part of February but they made it out each day. The whole project finished without a hitch. It was a smooth transition in replacing the system. They actually did a much better installation and improved upon some ideas I had originally asked of
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
in the assessment phase. Before departing they explained and set the thermostat plus provided a rebate card with instructions to request an inspection from Huntsville Utilities to obtain a rebate since the system installed qualified. Further still, about two weeks after the installation was completed another technician came out, pursuant to Ms
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
setting up an appointment with us of course. This technician,
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
(called prior) arrived and explained he was to test the duct system to determine if there any leaks. He had to tape each
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
closed and use some sort of gauge machinery at the intake vents. The result verified the system was top quality with a top grade rating. Mr
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was also impressive and explained their maintenance contract which we had purchased. I took the time to write this detailed account of the project because the
Clyde HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
crew took the time to deliver an admirable installation of our new HVAC system. We feel assured that our future associations with this remarkable group of people who comprise this company will continue to be a pleasure. THANK YOU!!!
