Window Replacement reviews in Clemmons

    Allgood Construction Co Inc
I purchased a home in January 2012 that had been advertised with replacement windows installed in May 2009 by Allgood. I wasn't in the home a year when the window seals started to fail. I called to ask about repair even if I had to pay and was told they would not even come to my home unless I had 5 windows to replace. Fast forward to 2016- I have been here 4 years and now have problems with 10 of the 12 Allgood windows in my home. The lifetime warranty given to the purchaser applied only to the original homeowner and was non-transferrable. So beware if you buy a home that has replacement windows from this company! I noticed recently they are now offering a transferrable warranty but  for those with the old contracts, there's another expensive window replacement most likely in your future!

On signing the contract, we received a letter outlining what we could expect on the installation. Actual events tracked exactly with what the letter said we could expect. Before the crew's arrival we removed all window treatments, brackets and hangers, pictures from near the windows, and moved near-by furniture. After the fact, we realized that if the brackets were screwed into the wood moulding around the window opening (23 or our 26 windows), did not have to remove the brackets. Dang! Only had to remove them if screwed to the actual window frame. We should have clarified this point with the guy who came to survey the job site and measure each window.
Crew arrived within the stated time-frame. It was hot, but by the end of the first day the two men had removed 25 storm windows, 25 wood double-hung windows, and installed 25 Champion windows. They were careful to place the old windows where there would be no damage to the lawn. On the second day they arrived earlier, and removed/installed the half-round window on the top floor (a long way up!), foamed all the voids, screwed the window frames, caulked the frames, and verified the operation of all windows. The one basement window was not precisely to the likiing of the guy with 25 years experience (I operated it, but could finding nothing wrong, and who would notice, anyway), he stated he never signed off until it was perfect, removed the window, adjusted the wood frame in some miniscule way, and then re-installed everything so it would be "just right." He was very meticulous, and I was dutifully impressed. They were more interested in a quality install, than in meeting a time-line. The crew worked 12 hours on the second day.
We noticed a huge improvement immediately.
The glass has a very small amount of silver in it, which (1) prevents UV rays from entering and fading fabrics and (2) reduces heat transmission. We could touch glass with the sun coming through, but felt no heat. Very light tint to the glass (from the silver), which reduces glare and seems to enhance colors, sort of like blue-blocker sunglasses. Don't even notice it after the first day, and it is attractive.
Crew encouraged me to watch over their shoulders as they worked, and were more than happy to explain what they did and why they did it. Both seemed to take great pride in what they did and how. I spent the first day (my wife the second day) checking them constantly, and they seemed to mind not at all. They were self-sufficient, though we provided cold drinks. Overall: (1) Windows are stunning when viewed from the street; (2) expensive compared to other brands, but the value was definitely there, our $$ well-spent, get what you pay for; (3) the install was professional and efficient; (4) the experience had minimum pain, as I re-install the brackets! WORD OF CAUTION: There are many "Champion" knock-offs on the internet. Make sure you get the correct one!

I was very pleased with the work that was done,  My windows look great! My calls were returned promptly and crews showed up when I was told they would be there.  I felt very comfortable through the whole process and was confident going in that the job would be done right and at a good price.  I was right on both accounts. I would definitely hire Craftsman Direct for my next home improvement job!

Barry and his team did an excellent job of installing vinyl trim on all the wood trim of our brick home. At the end of the project we realized that one window had been overlooked and a call was made. Barry and his team came the next day and took care of the omitted window. The whole project from the estimate up through completion went very well. Very professional.

I've said it all already. Do do your homework. Check into quality, compare other companies. This stuff is HARD, unless you are independently wealthy and don't care about getting the best value for your dollar.

    W. A. is a very hard worker. He let us know up front how we could save money on the project and told us what we needed to do for him to have the area ready for the work. We did most of the clean up and other small tasks to make his job easier.

SUBCONTRACTORS didn't t show-unreliable and unskilled- when did only stayed for max 2 hrs-came & several items had been incorrectly ordered- 2 windows & damaged door-4 windows were installed-not caulked/wrapped & left for another job-No one returned for 3 days- repeated efforts to have them contact me were ignored. Bay window not supported/strapped-nor was a roof put over it-Calls made to have issues resolved-no avail-week later man showed & put a roof over window but did not know how to install-called owner he came to inspect & agreed to fix everything-new crew arrived did not do as promised-minor attempts made to fix the problem with the bay window-called owner to discuss the matters & he threatened to remove HIS windows-still in litigation 2 years later: I would NOT recommend ANYONE to this company.
