Distinctive Building Services gave me a quote to build a closet. My bedroom backs are to my garage and they would have to blow out that wall to build the closet.

They were great. I would have preferred to use them but they were little high. Their estimate was for $5500. They were thorough and very professional. It was the price that made me drop them. I would definitely consider them and encourage them and in my future projects I would consider them.

Distinctive Building Services repaired my roof when a massive limb from a Gumball tree ripped a hole in my roof and damaged several rafters as well as a vent pipe. This job was complicated by the fact that we have a Mansard roof with "old-school" framing and very little attic space in which to work. I also wanted to make sure the new shingles matched the existing shingles. While they were making the roof repairs I also had them install gutter guards around my whole house, repair and paint several windows which were leaking, touch up some paint on the chimney and install a chimney cap as well as install an attic fan.

When a huge tree limb punched a hole in our roof, I knew who to call. Vince Busby of Distinctive Building Services is the only General Contractor I will call in the Charlotte area. He remodeled my whole house several years ago and I knew I could trust him to fix several of the rafters which were broken on our roof as well as make sure the repair matched the rest of the shingles. Within a few hours of the limb falling on the roof, his crew was there to patch it until the final repairs could be made and they even hauled away the debris from the tree. He then came back on another day and met with the insurance adjuster to make sure all aspects of the repair were accounted for and provided me with a detailed estimate for the insurance company. I got the money I needed to make the repairs and now that it's done you can't even tell there was any damage. You can trust Distinctive Building Services to provide you with quality workmanship at a fair price. They know what they're doing, they get it done in a timely manner, and they clean up after themselves. In addition to major home repairs, I know they handle all kinds of remodeling including Kitchens and Bathrooms, Additions, Attic and Basement Conversions, Screened-in Porches, etc. I interviewed many other contractors before choosing Distinctive Building Services to remodel my home. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Don't bother calling anyone else. Once you work with Distinctive Building Services, you won't want any other contractor in your home. I guess that's why this business has survived the economic downturn while many other remodeling contractors have gone out of business. Once a customer, always a customer. A business built on referrals. Vince Busby and the professionals at Distinctive Building Services are the only people in the Charlotte area that I would recommend for major home repairs and remodeling.

We added a roof over an existing patio. We also added a stone wall and hearth area inside.

It was a great experience. Vince and his crew did an excellent job. Very helpful in making decisions, and very neat and kept things clean. I would do it all over again.

We wanted to convert a 2 story family room to a single level family room with a 2nd floor playroom. Every other contractor had told us that we would need columns to support the second floor. Vince assured us that this was not needed and I was able to see his work on a friend's house where he had done the similar job. They put in a new 2nd floor for the playroom, converted 2 side windows to working windows, and added an "L shaped" closet with double pocket doors in the playroom, as well as recessed lighting and 2 vents for the new room.

The end result was just what we were looking for.

A remodel and renovation of existing kitchen with a removal of a dividing wall and headers into a sunroom. A complete design and fabrication of custom granite, one-of-a-kind two-tier island table. A custom entertainment bookshelf and cabinet for LCD TV area. Installed lighting, custom tiling, painting, and under cabinet light rails to match existing cabinets.

Distinctive Building Services were recommended to us by a friend. From the initial contact, we have thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of this remodel. Vince Busby, the owner, and his crew were EXCELLENT in their follow-up and meeting with us to design our new kitchen. He worked with us to keep some of the existing cabinetry and listened to our ideas on what we desired for a unique and one-of-a-kind granite table and island area. He more than exceeded our expectations in making that happen. His work was done on time and exactly by the deadline we agreed on. His costs were less than some of our quotes and there were no hidden costs throughout the process. The quality of work was EXCELLENT, and Vince himself was on site much of the time to oversee the work and often doing the work himself. He actually did more than we had asked him to and always went the extra mile with no additional cost. He offered his designer to come and help with color selection and expertise at his cost, which was much appreciated. His crew were a delight to have in the house and kept the construction area clean and orderly. They were prompt each morning and communicated their schedule to us each day, so we didn't have to guess when they'd be there. We would highly recommend Distinctive Building Services for any job, large or small. We will definitely be using them again.

Repaired exterior rotted trim and painted whole house, trim and walls.

It took a while to get the work done but that was largely due to the large amount of rain that was received. The company was good about letting things dry out before painting. They came when they said they would and only finished the job when we were completely satisfied.

I hired Distinctive Building Services to completely remodel a 1967 home in Charlotte. They gutted every bathroom, renovated the kitchen, refinished the hardwood floors, ripped out the old HVAC system and installed a new energy-efficient model, updated all the plumbing and electrical systems, raised the roof of the bonus room which economically added an additional 500 square feet of living space, removed multiple layers of old wallpaper, moved laundry room from closet in kitchen to upstairs to make it more functional for today's lifestyle, removed several interior walls to open the flow of the house, repointed the brick and repainted the exterior, added an office, exercise room and utility room on the main floor.

I was referred to Distinctive Building Services by one of my neighbors who used them to build a bar in their basement. I was impressed with the quality of their workmanship and attention to detail. I had already met with several other builders but none of them were comfortable with raising the roof and reconfiguring the HVAC system which proved to be a big challenge. Vince, the owner of Distinctive Building Services, has been in the construction business for more than 25 years and he knew just how to deal with these issues. Vince helped me work through the design challenges and prioritize the project to make sure I made changes that added value to my home. We were able to keep the project within budget and I feel we really got value for the dollars spent. I now have a professional-style kitchen with all the bells and whistles, granite countertops throughout the home, a Rinnai on-demand water heater, new tile in all the bathrooms and a much-improved floorplan. Working with Vince and his team of professionals was an absolute joy. He is very easy to talk to and when problems were discovered, as is to be expected with an older home, he was able to come up with cost-effective solutions. His level of integrity was a refreshing change of pace from many contractors I have worked with in the past. Vince and his team made sure to keep the worksite clean and safe for my small children. The project was completed as scheduled and Vince was very accommodating when it came to last-minute design changes. He did not charge exorbitant fees to make those changes happen. His sub-contractors are top-notch professionals and they all worked together like a well-oiled machine. Vince was very easy-going when it came to making draws on the project and I didn't feel like I was constantly being asked for money. He was able to save me thousands of dollars on finish materials by sending me to wholesale suppliers whenever possible. I can't say enough good things about Distinctive Building Services and would not hesitate to recommend them for any remodeling or home improvement project.
