    It went really well. I was charged for the work consistent with estimates.  Since drainage via the gutter was the problem, I was able to provide feedback to them about performance.  The drainage had not improved, however, once I reported this to them, they returned and made adjustments. The gutter now drains perfectly and i am happy they recommended the extra work and performed it.

    l It went well.    We needed roof repair because of a few leaks, but the first roofer who came told us the chimney was falling apart and needed to be fixed before the roof was fixed. So we called Mr. Smokestack because it was rated highly on Angie's List.  
    Mr. Smokestack does not use subcontractors, which I think is great.  Two employees, Evan and Zack, came right on time to inspect chimney and provide estimate.  They took many pictures of the chimney, close-ups, to show the damage and what needed to be done.  They showed us the pictures on a tablet and explained everything so we could understand it.  Back at the office, someone prepared a beautiful "Inspection Report" with photos that had arrows pointing to the problems and explaining what would be done and for how much.   We accepted their offer.  I paid $69.99 for the initial visit, but on Angie's List the company had listed "Free Inspections," so I called the office and they said, "We do give free inspections to Angie's List members but we didn't know you were one."  They agreed to take the $69.00 off the final price.  Evan and Zack came back on the agreed upon day, worked on fixing the chimney for an entire day, but didn't finish it.  While he was inside checking the fire box Evan noticed that there was a crack between the firebox and the brick surrounding it, which was a fire hazard, and said he'd fix it with mortar when he was working with mortar on the chimney, for no extra charge.   About 10 days later Zack and Dave came out to finish the job, which took about half a day. They showed us pictures (close-ups) of the new, repaired chimney, which looked brand new.  These employees go out of their way to make their customers happy.  And they appreciate working for a company that treats all customers fairly and honestly.
    Besides receiving a free inspection, I also received 10% off my final invoice for being an Angie's List member. We were very impressed with how nice and personable and hard working the employees were, with the way they presented before and after photos, the detailed inspection report, and the free crack repair.

    Urban Wildlife and Bee Removal
    Called Brett on a Sunday morning, and he arrived a couple of hours later at the agreed upon time. Donned protective gloves to remove the squirrel.  Brought a ladder to access our roof.  Built a cap and installed it.  Inspected our second chimney which was already capped.  Noticed some unrelated water damage where two eaves converged and took pictures to show me.  Will definitely call him first if I have another problem.

    I decided to use them because I had gotten a quote from Chimney Plus and it was quite a bit more money and for smaller projects and they have few recommendations.  Smokestack was able to give a recommendation that I needed and the price was okay.  They felt that there were things that should be additionally done to preserve the integrity of my home.  They were comparable and a little bit more expensive.

    I  had called because there was starting to be obvious water damage on the inside of the the house apparent in the painted brick surrounding the fireplace.  Unfortunately, once he power washed the exterior, he decided that we really needed a mason based on the level of deterioration. He was very helpful in discussing with me how to paint and clean the interior of the box to make it more attractive and clean (we don't use the fireplace) and I would call him again if we ever need a sweep!

    Well shame on me I guess, because I decided to give this vendor a second chance. 
    But I was wrong.  
    I had used this vendor last year for a roof inspection and to install a chimney cap.   After the inspection they also recommended replacing the chimney flashing.  But there were birds in my chimney and they couldn?t install the cap.  So they were SUPPOSED to return to check on the chimney and see if the birds had left and also install the flashing.  But none of this happened because they never bothered to return to check on whether the birds had left.  And my subsequent review reflected this. 
    Fast forward to this spring ....I decided to give them a  second chance.  After all, they had a lot of satisfied customers, maybe I was wrong?.. Nope, turns out I was absolutely right the first time.  I contacted them on April 16th.  They took SIX days to get back to me and then they told me their schedule was booked until late may/early June.  When I said I could wait until then for the chimney flashing but could they at least install the chimney cap sooner to avoid birds getting into my chimney AGAIN, they said they?d check their schedule.  So I waited? and waited?.. I finally heard back from them?. 4 days later!  Apparently they didn?t like my earlier review.  This is what they said:
    "As previously mentioned, our schedule is booking into mid-late June. We recommend that you use another company for the
    second job, as mentioned in your review. "
    WOW!  Who does this?  This is the most unprofessional behavior I've ever experienced.
