Skylight Installation reviews in Cary

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I can not say enough great things about Clay and his team. As a REALTOR, I recommend him with confidence, as his work is a direct reflection of my reputation since I am the one to recommend him. As a home owner and having used Clay several times for some really large remodel projects, I have been extremely pleased. Last year, I purchased my mother a house and he did a total rehab job and she loves it. New roof, custom windows, turned the furnace into a heat pump, new flooring...you name it, they did it. I adore these folks!!!

  • We were pleased with the installation however, due to a ceiling fan in the same area there was a strobe light affect during the day which was quite distracting. The owner worked with us at his cost to correct the situation.

  • I was very impressed from start to finish with On Tops and Chris. Chris set a time to meet to give us an estimate and arranged to visit house prior to appointment to measure an ***** roof and sky lights. We received several estimates but choose On Tops based on the way Chris presented himself (On Tops was not the cheapest or the most expensive but competitive). The roof was replaced in one day, On Tops had a large crew that worked very hard. Chris gave us the name of the on site supv. and we worked with him during the installation. The day after the roof replacement Chris returned to inspect the roof and the clean up. The roof replacement did not impact our neighbors and the clean up returned yard and area around house to original condition. Would definitely recommend On Tops.

  • We were very pleased with them. We had zero complaints. They did a great job, they did it in a timely fashion, they cleaned up after themselves, they were very good. They were reasonably priced as well. We priced some other ones and they were 'A' as far as comparison to those others. We would recommend them.

  • It went great. Norm Reilly and his crews(carpenter and painting) showed up on time and began work. Mr Reilly periodically checked the work and made sure things were done correctly. I am totally satisfied with the work they did.

  • Seven years ago in July 2009 after a very thorough study of on-line reviews of roofers in the Cary/Raleigh area I choose Scro's Roofing to replace our roof. It turned out to be a very good choice. The quality of their work was outstanding. They were careful to details (lots of skylights), did not rush, were eminently professional, easy to work with and friendly. We loved the roof. Unfortunately, the big hail storm of May 2, 2016 did extensive damage to our roof (and LeafGuard gutters as well. Our insurance company appraised the roof and said it all needed to be replaced. My first choice was again Scro's Roofing. I was not about to use one of the “storm chasers” that descended on our neighborhood like carpetbaggers from who knows where. Danny, the owner of Scro's looked up my record from seven years ago and was able to give me an estimate almost immediately from the information he already had on file. Their estimate was within a couple percent of what our insurance had already written a check which made the decision to go with Scro's again very easy. Once again we have been extremely pleased with the quality of their work. Sara in the office was most pleasant and helpful to work with particularly on scheduling. We needed to coordinate the roofing job with LeafGuard Gutters (old gutters down before the roofing job so drip edging can be installed properly and then new gutters up after the new roof). Chris and his roofing crew were great. They took their time, paid attention to details, found that the skylight the insurance company thought was damaged did not need to be replaced and saved a few bucks for us. They were friendly, courteous and even sang a little as they worked in the July heat. They did not rush. They even hand nail all of the shingles to avoid the over compression that pneumatic nailers operated very quickly can cause. It was also much quieter for us and our neighbors. They did a very thorough cleanup job after. They finished the job on Friday July 15 and that night the roof got an immediate test as the big storm with 5 inches of rain in spots hit Cary and Raleigh with lots of flooding. The roof performed perfectly and it looks great. We are most pleased! I recommend Scro's Roofing to anyone that asks. Our next door neighbor whose roof was also damaged by hail has since decided to use Scro's for their roof. Sincerely, J. David Carlson, Cary, NC

  • Our initial intent was to replace 2 skylights and a casement window.  Norm determined that the casement window replacement really only needed 2 sashes to be replaced and suggested I contact Pella directly.  Following this path saved us approximately $1000.

In regard to the skylights, we like the quality of the skylights and he made them fit into the existing openings.  The one unexpected problem was in preparation to remove the old skylights, a roof leak and rotten roof was discovered, so we had to replace some sheathing and reshingle the whole roof instead of just the area surrounding the skylights.  All worked out well and they installed appropriate wood trim on the interior of the skylights to provide a good final finish.

We plan on using Norm in the future (if the need arises), and would recommend him to friends.

  • It took a year. It was the most horrific experience of all time. The siding and trim work was moderately okay. I had to kick one of their sub-contractors off. I knew him. I had him quote the job previously, but I didn't like his quality of work. When he was doing the job wrong here, I had to tell him to go leave. Then, they sent somebody else. My wife wanted a skylight. They said, "Yeah. We can do that." They ordered the wrong skylight and installed it incorrectly. Another expert had to come out. They took it out. Actually, I had to take that one and throw it away because they never picked it up. Then, I had to go and get a new skylight. I insisted this other expert put it in because they, obviously, did not know what they were doing. It leaked for two months. Then, it took six months for them to come back and fix the leak damage and repaint everything. The whole time, the attitude was awful. I cannot say enough horrible things about the experience. Then, I had them paint the house because it did need painting. Half way through the job, he hit me up for more money because he said he didn't realize how much work it was. At that point, the house was half painted. They were really bad. There was yelling and swearing and screaming, mainly from me, at them and then, James, basically acting as if they had done nothing wrong. It just took forever. It was ridiculous. They weren't the cheapest. Obviously, we weren't the most important job to them because they would show up for a couple of days and then they would be gone for a week and then come back. The exterior painting, which was supposed to have been started a while back, they didn't start until we started having freezing temperatures outside. I thought, "It was probably not good to be painting when it's freezing." But he assured me that the paint was good down to a certain temperature, which may be correct. The optimal would not be freezing temperatures. It probably would be reasonably warm temperatures.

  • Ron was one of the few residential skylight installers who was able to bid on replacing our two deteriorated 4x6 skylights.  We had to reschedule several times due to snow events but when the snow cleared Ron's crew did a great job of removing, flashing and reinstalling the skylights.  No muss, little fuss, and everything tidied up nicely before he left.  Happy to recommend Skylight Solutions and would have no hesitation using them again.
