  • The physicians were excellent, they were very knowledgeable. The nurses were excellent and very knowledgeable. The hospital was absolutely filthy from time to time and for a hospital, I would think that that is something they would pay attention to. I guess because they are a heart hospital in the east coast area that they have so many patients going to them so many times a day. They do surgery from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. They are constantly turning over. We actually have to wait in intensive care for our bed to be available before we can go to another floor. They forgot their attention to cleaning. They don't have the time to clean as much but they have excellent surgeons, excellent doctors, and excellent nurses. Their food sucks and the hospital is filthy. We have gone to them because it was closer. It was just down the road. Once we are in WakeMed Cary, then we go to the WakeMed big hospital. The WakeMed Cary was clean as a whistle but it is a small hospital and it's newer and they don't deal with the amount of patients that the big WakeMed does. They responded quickly. They had put in this new computer system where they have done it that we scroll left or right so when somebody comes in to review them, they would be scrolling down and asking what happened to this and this. The rest of the world couldn't understand what they are doing. Everybody in Europe scrolls down and so to be able to transfer information from U.S. to Europe, they have to go to the scroll down system. They were used to the scrolling from left to right system that they kept reordering the same blood draws. It's like he had 15 blood draws in the same day. We tried to contact the administration and said this is horrible, something is wrong here but the administration didn't care. They didn't return our phone calls, they didn't bother to come up to our room, they didn't do anything. Nobody goes and looks for what hospital to go to in case you have a heart attack. It's like this is the closest hospital. I wish I can help people in general to research this sort of thing because the success rate for their heart transplant patients is like 98%. The administration has lack of input care and interest. I never had a talk with the hospital administrator. They never had a survey to find out what we thought was so bad about it. It was a bad experience all around. The nurses were wonderful, the doctors were fantastic, but the rest of the place sucked.

  • If I had any questions or any concerns, they were pleasant. They were very thorough with explaining things. I really haven't had a bad experience with them at all. I have nothing bad to say about them. They handled everything professionally. My husband liked the crew that was there so I think they did a good job.

  • The nurse practitioner there was filling in for the day from another site, but still provided a complete physical and filled in all the paperwork herself. There is only one provider in one small office, but our wait was not too long (~15 minutes) and we were next in in line when we signed in. Before the appointment my impression was that they would do a very quick, bare minimum physical, but she really took her time, worked at a comfortable (not rushed) but efficient pace. Not only did she do his entire history and physical herself, she completed the camp paperwork thoroughly and then the CVS paperwork (without a nurse, assistant or administrative person).
The only downside was that I could not use insurance to pay, but at only $39 (and no way to get an appointment at the regular family practice), it was worth it.

  • My RX is one I have been on for over five years. My doctor is well known in his field and highly regarded as an expert. When I went to fill the prescription the first time in October it was declined. My initial call lead to the customer service rep saying it wasn't their doing, but my husband's company and we needed to have them approve it. What??!! But we did it the next day. No luck. We had to jump through hoops to resolve the issue. It took close to a month. The communication and responsiveness of the company is very disappointing and frustrating. At the annual enrollment through my husband's firm we simply switched from one bc/bs plan to another. They transferred all our data but not the authorization. This was not be disclosed to us until we tried to fill the RX. My husband called and was told it would be taken care of - it wasn't. No-one informed us - tried again to fill RX - no luck. Called again, this time the initial customer service rep basically lied. Requested supervisor. Supervisor said authorization would be transferred and would call back when it was completed. Hours later (4:45) call came back that we had to resubmit all info from doctor again. They said that forms were faxed to doctor's office. Meanwhile, I am out of my medicine.

  • I've been with BCBS NC for over 6 years and have never had any problems. I am always happy with the customer service via phone and really have never had a wait to get a person on the line to ask questions about my policy, what is covered, referrals to in network providers, etc. I have used their website to find new doctors that are in network. I feel like I have a lot of help and resources at my fingertips.

  • I was initially denied health insurance from BCBS as a healthy 26 year old with asthma. After appealing the denial I was accepted at a higher rate. Since then policy has increased once but not too bad. I will continue to use BCBS and think they have one of the best reputations in NC.

  • The help desk is prompt and highly available. The co-payment is reasonable and the reimbursement process is quick and easy to file. The premium is comparable with other healthcare provider if not better.

  • BCBSNC has always been the best health insurance provider I've ever been able to find in NC. Their coverage, communication and prices are the best. Like all insurance providers, their prices are going up and keep going up, but whenever they do have a significant increase, they give forewarning and provide options.
They also design new types of policies to suit all types of people. I've used their Blue Advantage and Blue Advantage Saver policies, and both are very good.
Healthcare providers like them, too. In the past I've had healthcare providers refuse to put through the paperwork for some insurance providers, which is a real mess. They refuse them, because those insurance providers delay payment too long. BCBSNC doesn't do that. My doctors and their administrators are happy to file with BCBSNC.
When I file claims, they put the paperwork through reliably. In the 15 years I've insured through them I've never had an issue with billing or payment.
I like my online account, too. It's a nice system.
This summer the information they've supplied to prepare me for the switch to the new national Healthcare Marketplace starting in January is excellent.

  • I was there a month ago for a checkup. I have a blood test done every three months to check for irregularities. I could not be more pleased. They take patients very quickly. I have everything I need.

  • The provider (a nurse practitioner) was very thorough in her evaluation of my medical history and physical examination. Her treatment seemed quite appropriate and effective. The fact the a lab is available on the premises was extremely convenient in my situation. The nurse practitioner was very knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. She took time to listen to me. The facility was very clean, and the office staff was very friendly and efficient. I would gladly recommend this facility for urgent care needs.
