    Surgery went very well. I

     I am doing very good and very happy with the results.  Dr Waldman explained exactly what he was planning to do.  I followed his post surgery instructions and I have done very well..  The staff at the surgical center were also very efficient and professional, explaining all preop procedures.  The post op care was excellent.

     I will continue to use Dr Waldman as my podiatrist.

    I had seen Dr. Jarrett 3 years ago and I called to schedule an appt. It took a full week and 3 phone calls on my behalf in order for them to find my file. After finally getting an appointment for month later, I went in to see Dr. Jarrett, who I like very much and who was very attentive and listened to my concerns. We decided to have my knees scoped, and I set an appt with his medical assistan. I decided to have the scoping done 3 days before we left for the beach so that I could fully recover and not have to take extra time off my physically demanding job. I told his medical assistant this.
    I then called and asked them about insurance authorization so that I could save up the required amount. They informed me, after being put on hold for 5 minutes, that the claim had been submitted and I could call BCBS and see if they accepted it. I called BCBS, there was NO CLAIM. I called Asheville Ortho back, and they said that they don't bill until AFTER the surgery. In disbelief they would make up that they filed and that they wouldn't call to get pre-auth.
    As far as traveling, I even called back a week later to make sure that there was no risk of me getting a clot for the 12 hour drive, and to make sure that it would be ok to go. She said there was zero risk, but then proceeded to tell me that I should address any other concerns at the POST OP visit. I replied it would be too late at the post op visit to know if I could travel or not. I had to request that she ask the Dr what his thoughts were, she called back saying that stiffness would be the only concern.
    A few more weeks have gone by and It was brought to my attn that I may not be able to go in the water with sutures following the scope. I called and talked with the new medical assistant, Nick. I asked him if I would be able to go in the water with sutures bc we would be at the beach the week following the procedure. He said I should bring it up tp the PA at the pre-op visit. I told him that wasn't sufficient, I may need to reschedule the surgery if I can't go in the water. He then decided to ask the dr and call me back. He called me back and said  I WOULD HAVE TO ASK THE DR AT THE POST OP VISIT. I couldn't believe it. I feel like he either is too dense or ignorant. I called back on Monday, expressing that I would need to know if I can swim a few days later or not. And if not, Id like to reschedule. It is Weds and I have yet to receive a phone call back. I called this morning and still haven't heard back.
    I feel that if a dr trusts the medical care to people who are unable to address simple questions EFFECTIVELY, than I do not want to be operated on by him. Its a shame because I really felt comfortable with the dr but the repeated, poor interactions with all the professionals involved in the practice have left me with a deep sense of distrust for my health. One or two people who are ineffective is one thing but everyone else who runs the office, is a completely different story.  Im sorry to say that I will be canceling my surgery and going to a different practice if I do not hear back from the medical assistant today.

    He has a good recollection of who you are from visit to visit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It’s hard to get an appointment with him. I’m not even sure if he’s taking new patients at this time. He is not very available.

    I would say that everything with Dr. Mary Smith with Carolina Internal Medicine is 'A' plus. She is an internal medicine. She is very professional. She spends time with me. She doesn't keep me waiting. If I have to reschedule as far as doctors go it is within a fairly reasonable time period. I would rate them an 'A' for everything, 'A' for all of those categories.

    They were very caring and made sure I understood everything about my breast cancer and discussed who they recommended for treatment of the cancer. Dr Abbott sent me a note after my surgery and had me come in just to check up on me and make sure everything was going ok. I really appreciated the extra time and effort for just one patient.

    I had the chronic diarrhea for 11 days at this point. I told the Doctor what was wrong and he informed me that he could not treat me without first having lab work done, to confirm the problem. He told me not to use any anti diarrhea medication and to ride it out till the lab results were back. The next day I brought the sample to the lab and they told me it would be 3 or 4 days. By this time it was getting really bad. That day I went to Sisters of Mercy and the Doctor there gave me an antibiotic on the spot that solved the problem in less than 48 hours, with no lab work. I had no Medical Insurance at the time. The cost to see Dr. Spies and get nothing done was just under $100 for the visit and $400 for the lab work. I was out about $500 with no treatment and the lab work showed nothing wrong!!
    On my next scheduled visit to Dr. Spies in August (2013). I brought up the subject of my March visit and asked him why he would not treat me. He had a fit of anger. He began yelling at me. His voice was so loud , the receptionist and the nurse came down the hall to see what was happening. He was yelling, "You don't have insurance because you choose not to have insurance!!! Everyone has to have insurance!!! I do you all kinds of favors!!! (I have no idea what he was talking about there). Go find
    another doctor and find out what it really costs to go to the Doctor!!! My services have a cost, everyone has to pay the cost and you do too!!! This guy did not care that I had chronic diarrhea for 14 days, he really went off the deep end. He ranted for about 10 minutes and I got out of there ASAP. Please beware of Dr. Jack Spies.

    I was very pleased with the way I was treated, particularly by Dr. Hamilton. He listened to my concerns and made good suggestions. He has good, modern equipment for testing hearing. Based on my needs he recommended the Lyric system, which I am now wearing. There was some mild pain for the first week or so, but it has completely gone away and I am very pleased.
    This is not a review of Lyric so I will say only that while Lyric is not perfect, overall I feel that it is a very good system. As regards the Hearing Center of Asheville, I am very happy with them and would recommend them to anyone else needing to pursue hearing aids. I can hear much better now!

    I think they took very good care of me. One of them noted that I can put some stents in my groin because I could hardly walk from a grocery parking lot into the store without my legs freezing up. I couldn't walk. The people I used in Atlanta they never brought this up although I told them I had problems walking. Asheville Cardiology put some stents enabled me to walk. It worked great and now I can walk. I couldn't walk before. I see 2 doctors there and they followed up. The only thing I would wonder about is the 2 doctors, they don't seemed to communicate much. They don't put stuff on their internal digital records. They both were good. I had a surgeon and a person I usually see for my checkup. They didn't seemed to know what the other one had done. I thought that was kind of odd. Other than that they did a great job.

    We were looking for medical doctors who are trained in Western medicine as well as knowledgeable about other treatment modalities.  Both Brian Lewis and Chad Krisel fit that description. I have gotten excellent care from both doctors.  I now have a serious illness, and am definitely sticking with Dr. Chad as my primary physician.
     Their office, Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville, is operating with a different business model than usual: They take no insurance, instead charge $50 for an office visit.  Amazing!  If you prefer, you can pay $40 a month, and each visit is only $20, plus most labs are free and a free physical exam each year, and free monthly educational workshops.  I'm so glad I found them!
