    FLD Handyman Services
We have been working with Tom for several weeks now on a major renovation of a 1960's house in Boone and he has been amazing. As near as we can tell, there's nothing Tom can't do - replacing floor joists, adding supports in the crawl-space, replacing windows, demoing walls, framing new walls, removing old plumbing, you name it, he's been able to help us. He is also prompt, very professional, and extraordinarily hard working. Perhaps most important, he's not one of those guys who just tears into something and about half-way through goes, "oops!" He really thinks about what he's doing and plans it all out before he picks up that saw. If you have any sort of remodeling, improvement, or repair project around the house, from a sticky window to a monster renovation, I would without hesitation give Tom a call.

They do an excellent job on everything that they have done for us. Their price is always fair, they are quick, professional and dependable. They are always willing to help us out in emergency situations as well.

Very well. All of the prpblems that arose from existing building or constriction issues were resolvied and or corrected. They are excellent at updating progress reports and don't hesitate to call if an opinion is needed.

I have never seen such a mess. Most importantly,  the new door is not keeping air out, we currently have a blanket at the bottom until we can get it reinstalled. The trim work is awful, he did not replace a cracked jam, and on top of that he cracked our brand new door. He said he was coming back to finish the trim work and now he will not return our calls.
We will have to hire someone else to reinstall the door, and most likely we will have to purchase another door since he broke ours when he was installed it.
I will post pictures if possible.

    FLD Handyman Services
I'm giving FLD an A only because there's no A+!
Tom Faulkner is a true professional of the highest order. A self-starter, he arrived early for his initial visit, evaluated the job and provided an estimate of services. Even though he lived an hour away he was always on time and kept his work area clean and orderly. All work was completed according to schedule and record of his hours and all materials purchased were presented with his final bill which was $500 below budget!
Rest assured, FLD will be involved in remodeling our master bath and any other work we need to have done!

It went terribly. The tiled showers looked so bad and would have required $4000.00 custom doors so that we ripped them out--that is when we found he had nailed the rubber membranes down to the shower floor and had not connected the drain to the house plumbing, that way the water could drain into the crawl space under the house.  They also tiled over an electrical junction box. The grout job left huge gaps and was not completely washed off so it was staining the tile, which was one reason we decided to check underneath the work. Thankfully we did or we would not have known about the membranes or the drains.
The benches they had built in tilted backwards so water would collect on them and seep thru the terrible gout.
The  shut off valves to the vanities were already 30 years old and were not touched during the installation of new vanities-which meant they became inaccessible and practically nonfunctional.Amazing they would not replace the plumbing!
The light fixtures were installed crookedly and asymmetrically into the original openings of the old--so they were not centered over the the sinks at all.
The kitchen tile was placed directly on top of the old linoleum so it was 1/2 inch above the wood floor-no attempt was made to
wash off the grout so it remains with a cloudy film. And so now the stove is 1/2 inch above the granite countertop.
Did I mention the electrical wire dangling in a pantry leading up to the new kitchen exhaust fan?
Or the total mess he left in the house with sawdust and trash everywhere?
And the bill I paid when he promised all the work would be done by the time his check arrived- Not!!
The deck was repaired using too small hangers and zinc roofing nails instead of galvanized bolts--this at an additional$8000 to do it "right". The pickets were asymmetrical and not regularly spaced even completely nailed.
I really feel foolish in trusting him -never thinking he was not getting permits or performing the work according to code. Or that he was doing the construction in such a dangerous way.. We could have had mold and or electrical fires as a result of their negligence. I am really appalled at the audacity of the really rotten construction-obviously they did not care about quality or have a concern about safety, or think that anyone would ever question the methods they used. Total disappointment! Please avoid him like the plague! How a seemingly nice guy could take your money and give horrible workmanship in return is beyond me, but live and learn--hopefully if we share enough about our experiences he will decide to look up his code book and start to do things correctly.
Just don't pay him while he is learning!

They also installed a bathroom vanity for me. The work is flawless and has the "old house" character that I wanted to maintain. The stain is gorgeous. The structure is level and sound. The transition between old and new wood is not visible. And the baseboard looks great. What a bargain. I could not be happier.

Kand C is very professional and detailed in their work. They won't cut corners. They are honest and extremely capable. Kand C raised our floors, replaced termite damaged floor beams and joists and then laid laminate flooring. As the project continued they also leveled our gutters, replaced our front door and coordinated rewiring and plumbing needs. We would absolutely use them again.

Brian and Josh do careful, professional and extremely high-quality work.   We know that if we hire them to do a job, it will be done right and look great.  They turned a bare patch of ground outside our kitchen door into a lovely patio with a small covered deck for grilling.  The detailing they put into their work is impressive.  The deck touches the block retaining wall and they carefully cut the boards of the deck to fit the contours of the blocks!  The price was reasonable for the quality of work done.  My extended family has had a long-term relationship with the Stoeltzings and have always been pleased and impressed with their work on projects large or small.
