AAppalachian Blind & Closet Cofirst Greg Seiz ( the owner ) came out to our home and he explained all our options . He measured all our windows , showed us samples of colors and styles and helped us make the best decision for our windows . A great price was given to us on the spot and we ordered our shades . In about 3-4 weeks our shades were ready for instalation . An instal date was set and an email conformation was sent to us , it showed us a picture of the installer Jonathan . On the date of instalation Jonathan called ahead and showed up on time and ready to do his magic . He answered any questions i had and in less than 2hrs he installed and repositioned a total of 12 window shades . THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST !!!!.......thank you so much- angelo g.

AWe considered an Asheville-based company, who said they had to cover two of our large 9' high x 15' wide windows with 3 blinds. Appalachian Blinds & Closets, being motor experts, were able to cover both of these large windows with 1 blind at a better price. We selected them for all the blinds in our home. They painted valances matching our window trim to cover the blinds. Whether installing or providing service, they send a confirming email with a photo of the person who will be coming, and they arrive on time. Since that installation, we had difficulty with how long the batteries were lasting, and they took the initiative to replace the motors, which appears to have fixed the problem. We recently purchased outdoor blinds from them, as well.

FIf I could give zero stars, I would. First, it was taking forever to get my order. When I looked at my order, they somehow had the wrong address (my former address from five years ago), so I contacted them to change the address. They assured me that the address was changed. A couple of weeks later, I was notified via email that my order was delivered but when I checked my front door it wasn't there, so I went to my old address, 30 minutes away and got lucky that the owner was there and had received my order. When I got it home the 3 roller shades that I ordered for side-by-side windows were all 4 inches too big. I followed the online measurement directions which suggested that you add 2 inches per side to your measurements for an outside mount. I should have stayed with my original measurements. When I called, they suggested that I keep an inch on each side. They re-made them, and AGAIN sent them to the wrong address - even after I re-confirmed that they had the right one. Again, I had to go to my old address to look for my delivery. This time, no one was home, so I took a chance and waited in front of their house for a while until someone may come home. Luckily, someone showed up within 90 minutes. This time they had showed up with 2 boxes! They re-made it twice (6 roller shades), all still too big! Due to the global pandemic and for personal reasons, I waited to address the issue. When I finally was able to contact them, I was sent a message that the CSR's supervisor determined that the blinds were made correctly. Therefore, they cannot offer a remake for this order. Their policy states that they will make up to 4 shades if the customer is not completely happy. However, they offered to remake the shades at a discounted price! I will not give them one more penny! Worst service ever! A $500.00 lesson learned - They stole my money and left me with 9 useless roller shades to get rid of. I do not recommend them!

FI recently placed a call to Empire Today on my mother’s behalf to get an estimate on having repair work done on the wood floors. My parents had the floor installed throughout most of the house by Empire about eight months ago. There has since been a toilet leak which seeped under the wall from the bathroom into the master bedroom and caused water damage to a few of the flooring panels. I explained this situation to the Empire representative. She told me that they still have that particular flooring in stock and the damaged area could be repaired. She quoted me a price of $2,600 to replace the bedroom flooring and some of the flooring in the hall leading out of the bedroom. I said that really the entire bedroom floor did not need to be replaced because only a part was damaged and she informed me that their estimator would take a measurement and the cost could be less if not as much needed to be replaced. Either way I felt okay with the $2,600 quote and planned to have Empire do the work. I explained to the Empire representative that my mother is elderly and not fully aware of things. I am calling on her behalf and can they please call me back with the final price estimate. She said certainly we can do that and she took my name and phone number. A few weeks later I give my mom a call just to see how she is doing that day. She said everything is good and that the flooring people were there replacing the floor. I was very surprised because I had heard nothing from them. She told me they gave her a new estimate of $6,349 the day before and arrived that morning to start the work. They replaced less than 200 SF of flooring and were not even required to reinstall the molding. I called Empire and couldn’t get through to anyone that could help. They said we will leave a message for this person or that person to call you back and they did not. Finally, Jessica the manager of the Charlotte office called. I started to explain to Jessica what had happened and she cut me right off. She said I know what is going on. Your mother signed a new estimate which voided the one you were given. I again tried to explain and she rudely cut me off with saying the same thing over and over; my mother signed the estimate. The phone call ended with Jessica hanging up on me. My mother is 75 years old, lost her husband about three months ago, and is fighting cancer with weekly cancer treatments. I feel that Empire Today took advantage of a vulnerable elderly person. No one in their right mind would have paid that amount for the small amount of flooring repair. I think they saw that she was not in her right mind and took the opportunity to cash in. Update- Empire refunded $1184.00 for “services not rendered”. A manager explained to me in a phone conversation that the services not rendered were due to no sub-flooring having to be replaced as originally on their estimate. Empire stands by the final cost of $5,165.00 for the flooring repair. They claim that 1/3 of the wood floors in the house were replaced which is a false claim. To have replaced 1/3, all the flooring would have had to be replaced all the way to the dining room and living room (over 300 SF) which was not done. I was encouraged to review the documents of the work which I have done several times and reinforces my frustration with Empire.
