Tile Installation reviews in Arden

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • This is a tale of two reviews. They needed to perform two jobs, first was drying the house, and the second was the repair. My first review is about the first crew who led the drying operation. These guys were terrific. I first called my insurance company the evening when we got home about the flood. The first guy was there by 10 am the next day to start the drying process, and by the end of the day they had the whole house fully set up with industrial grade dehumidifiers and fans. They came by every day like clock work and checked the moisture levels. They called every day with a status update to let me know how close we were, where they were still finding moisture, and how much longer they thought it would be. Within about 5 days the house was dry, they let me know, and they had all their equipment removed. So after this operation I was completely fine with them going forward with the repair. Things started out fine. We had issues with the independent adjuster first, meeting deadlines, and then had some fights about what would be covered in the repair. The PM, Carmelo Velez, was intially very easy to work with and held his own against the adjuster. After about two weeks they finally settled on a number. Thats when things started going downhill with him. Right off the bat, he told me, not in so many words, but that our job was small, and that without notice he'd have to pull people out for emergencies(bigger jobs). So i already got the feeling our job wasn't too important. Seeing as how my family was displaced, with a 2 and 5 yr old, we were already feeling stressed and anxious to get this job started. It started with me constantly having to ask about pricing for replacement kitchen cabinets, to which he kept telling me "i will drop off a brochure." This went on for about 3 days. Every day it was, "this afternooon, tomorrow morning at the latest." After the third time being told this I simply asked, when is this going to happen cause this is the third time you told me this. His response was, "Josh, I don't sit around the office all day looking for things to do. We are a busy operation. I have to wait for you to finalize your product selections and then i'll have to finalize the estimate yet again." This was the most unprofessional, discourteous response I've ever received. If this guy couldn't simply deliver some paper to me on time, nor could he show the slightest bit of professionalism after repeatedly not delivering, it made me realize there was no way I could count on him delivering on a construction project. I work as a project manager myself, and this is NOT how you treat your customers. If i promise to deliver something, I deliver it, and if something comes up, I reach out to them and explain the delay. Further more, I NEVER take a snide and sarcastic attitude. Not to mention of of those estimate redo's was because he slipped in a completely unneeded repair for over $400 that i called him out on, and another $800 repair that we previously agreed not to include. The only redo that was caused by me, was after we went over the insurance estimate, i had them change it to accommodate upgrades I wanted to do, and jobs I would do myself. I wouldn't recommend this company if you have a small job. And for the record, this small job was quoted at $18,000. There are plenty of contractors who would be happy to have this work, and it wasn't hard finding a replacement who was happy to take the job, and treated me with respect.

  • We interviewed several contractors from Angie's list and we are glad we chose Kevin. It was important to us to know that the person we chose would listen to what we wanted and could be trusted to complete our project timely with us living 2 hours away. Kevin was great to work with. When he starts a job, he finishes it before moving on to another one which we really appreciated. He understood what we wanted to accomplish and did an excellent job in all areas. Our new shower is perfect!!! It was great to find someone who was patient, professional and honest. We would highly recommend Kevin and will definitely use him again.

  • We had two consultations with Stewart to plan the project and clarify what we thought we wanted and what we could afford. He was attentive to us and offered suggestions in the design and he has a gallery of completed projects on his phone that was an enormous help for me as visuals. Our house is 30 years old and had never been changed other than paint. This project was a total gut to the studs of the current bathroom and combined closet. The crew cleaned the area at the end of each day and tried to keep the work area closed off from the rest of the house. There was new placement of the toilet, large glass walled shower with tile and a 4 foot knee wall to separate from the toilet. The sink and vanity went from 1 bowl and 4 feet to 2 under mount sinks and 10 ft of cabinets and granite top. Cabinets included laundry basket area. In the bathroom we had a linen closet installed, with a light and folding door. We had a pocket door made to close off the bath from the bedroom. In the bedroom there were 2 windows that faced the street and over-looked the front porch. Stewart created the closet from the end of the porch and used the one window as the door, placed can lights in the ceiling, hard wood flooring and a closet system for organizing clothing(The More Space Place). The bedroom area had old carpet removed, hardwood flooring with sanding and finish in there plus to existing floor in the kitchen and foyer. All walls painted, ceilings in the renewed area- bath and bedroom-popcorn finish removed and painted. Another pocket door created for closet closure. Stewart had given us a work schedule so we knew what to expect ahead of time. They were only off site 3 days. Stewart was available to us for answers to questions, design ideas, reassurances about design choices. The sub-contractors who came were professional and timely. We added a new front door and new door and frame at the back of the house to the project. The outside of the closet which was the front of the house was finished the same as the rest of the house, cedar planking ,and blends beautifully.

  • It went perfect! We had a wonderful experience with Chris Tarske, owner of CT Enterprises. He stayed on top of the reconstruction of our kitchen from beginning to end. He checked on each worker that came to our home. One made a small mistake and he had it redone. We had subway tile put in. We plan to have a bath remodel and I would definitely hire Chris Tarske to do the remodel. I could not be happier with the new kitchen! Ann Hykin.

  • Chris and his crew do a great job.  I initially hired him to do a small electrical job and while talking with him found he also did bathroom remodels.  Everyone who is part of his company is amiable and easy to work with.  The tile work in the first bathroom is beautiful and meticulously done by Patrick who also did a great job with the cabinet installation on the second job.  The second bathroom remodel was almost a rebuild and it turned out great.  I am pleased with both remodels and would rehire Chris.  He is talented and innovative.  His father did a great job with the plumbing and bathroom cabinet installation and was up the challenges presented with both remodels.  I have seen other remodels done for friends and Chris, in my opinion, did a better job.

  • Initially, the remodel went well and the finished product looked good at first glance.  David and Ray, the owners were very attentive at the beginning of the project.  Once they received their money, many of our phone calls went unanswered and unreturned. After a few weeks, the tile floor started coming up so Ray sent a flooring contractor (not the one who installed the tile) to take a look.  He was quite concerned, called Ray from our house and said the whole floor had been installed incorrectly and needed to be redone. Ray, came over within the next few days and said he could fix the floors by using a different type of grout.  Ray applied the grout himself; it was darker, looked awful and started peeling within weeks.  Over time, the tile in certain areas began popping up again and my husband and I went to see David in the showroom.  He assured us that everything would be taken care of, but we never heard from him.  I must point out that they were always prompt when it dame to collecting their money. We eventually got in touch with a professional tile layer who corrected the issue for $750.00. He showed us where there was a shortage of nails in the floor and the wrong type of adherent had been used.  I now have tile in other areas of the kitchen starting to pop up, so I imagine every single tile will have to be re-grouted eventually.
    1. Additional issues:
    •  1. Missing a cabinet shelf that was promised
    •  2. Missing several cabinet door bumpers
    •  3. The cabinet edge around my dishwasher is completely unfinished.
    •  4. The tile man who fixed the grout also pointed out some issues with the backsplash that I had not noticed.
    •  5. One drawer was broken and is held together by a screw

  • Jason promptly returned calls, was punctual, and honored his estimate although more work was required. He takes pride in his work and the customer benefits from his expertise. We highly recommend him and would use him again without hesitation.

  • They did a very good job.  Their recommends were very accurate and their prices were SO good! They actually talked me out of more work because they explained they didn’t think I would need it. They were right, too! They replaced the entire gutter system with 6 inch gutters and a generic leaf guard as well. Another gutter company was going to just put a cover over the gutters but their estimate was incredibly high. I have no problems with the new gutters. I really trust them and they don’t oversell their product. They were quick, got all the work done in a single day, and there was no mess.

  • A friend suggested that I go to Horizon to look for tile for a backsplash. I was greeted as soon as I came in the door, and they were extremely helpful in the tile selection process. I ordered the tile the next day, and it was delivered on the day promised. Everyone in the store that I dealt with, including the young man on the loading dock was extremely courteous.

  • Paco responded to my intial inquiry the same day and arrived the next day to give an estimate.  He provided his estimate within a few days, as promised.  When replacing the existing tile with an exact match wasn't an option, Paco helped us decide which would be the best replacement tile to match the other tile in the bathroom (the showers, floors, and tub surround all consist of the same tile which was discontinued in the size that was originally used).  Paco connected us to the representative at the tile distributor who helped us order it and he picked it up before starting the job.  When we ended up deciding to completely redo both showers instead of a partial redo, Paco was willing to negotiate on the estimated cost of the job.
On the start date he brought a big crew for demolition and stayed late to get the new shower pans poured so they would have time to set before the project continued.  He took care to remove the glass shower doors so they were able to be reused.  Paco made suggestions for how to make the new tile look aesthetically pleasing and added some details to make it unique while still blending in with the existing tile.
Paco and his crew were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and were kind to our dog who was freely roaming about during the project.  Paco was easy to reach and communicated with me by text message to update me on the progress, even sending me pictures of his proposed design as he came up with a new idea during the project.
The project took 9 business days start to finish.  Paco did check back with us to make sure that everything was working fine and to address any remaining concerns that we had.  He conducts his business with integrity.
The new showers LOOK GREAT and we are sure that the materials and technique that Paco used to rebuild them will NOT LEAK.  We are very satisfied with the finished product and would recommend Paco without reservation.
