    DEECK'S MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR
    I had an unacceptable business experience with Deeck Mechanical, a local heating and air business, when some repair work was done by them at a house that I rented to a friend over the summer. They charged about $250 for a swapping out what I later found was a $5 part when the AC fan wouldn���t cut on. Unfortunately, I was out of town and couldn't deal with Deeck directly. I did talk with them by phone and they said they had replaced some parts to check the unit but ultimately only the contactor points (a $5 part) were needed at this time. Another part (a $10 capacitor) was recommended to be replaced at some point (another $150 if they did it) but was not the reason the unit quit. Well, the unit had quit within an hour and my friend could not reach Deeck since they had closed for the day. No money had change hands at this point. I called the next morning and instructed them to make it right since the unit had obviously not been repaired. They did repair it but this time did not call for my authorization. Instead, they coerced my friend into paying $467 total before making the repair. I went to Deeck Mechanical to discuss the charges that I felt were unjustified, particularly those from the second visit. However, Deeck Mechanical's Service Manager, Nick Drye, only offered a full refund of $467 with the caveat that the parts Deeck installed would be removed. This put me in a bind because I knew I would have to line up repairs that day and I did not know who I would call or how long it would take to coordinate and complete the repairs. I reluctantly accepted this proposal and we agreed that my friend would pick up the refund. Moving forward with this agreement, I spent the rest of the day having the unit repaired again. In the spirit of doing the right thing and having no hard feelings, I then delivered Deeck's parts back to them to save them extra effort. Afterwards, we sat in the Deeck Mechanical waiting room for over 2 hours waiting for the refund. They said the owner would have to write the check and I believed them since I trusted there would be no problem with a real business honoring an agreed-to refund. However, when the owner, Gary Deeck, did show up around 4:30pm, he made it clear, in a rather unprofessional way, that he was reneging on the agreement and was not going to honor it even though I had spent approx. $200 and half a day off from work holding up my end of the agreement. I was appalled that a supposedly legitimate business would operate this way.

    Service was completed. Disconnect box was inoperable therefore, all work could not be completed. Which is understandable. When another vendor arrived the next day to repair the disconnect box, he highlighted areas that should have been a part of the cleaning process. Perhaps this is not a part of the standard cleaning this company provides. The technician that came was a nice guy. As homeowners we should have got a complete listing of what was included in our purchase.

    They got the five light switches in the basement down to three, disconnected the mystery light switch, covered several exposed electrical boxes, got the light switch off the ceiling, replaced the 7 florescent lights with simple barn lights, that we ordered, put an outlet in the bath and the kitchen, and installed the ceiling fan and the pot light. then to help with the second floor problem, they installed two extra outlets on separate breakers. And they fixed the reversed light and installed an outdoor motion sensor lantern light out back as well. We are tickled pink!

    I decided to go with Dulin because they were more informative, knowledgeable and definitely more professional than the other companies I received quotes from. They took time to listen to me and offered several options and solutions. Their price was very competitive, too, not the lowest, but certainly not the highest. I felt like I was not being pressured to buy right now which was not the case with the other companies. The installation crew did an outstanding job, very neat and professional. The job went very well from start to finish, I couldn't be happier!
