    The extended warranty told me to have the chair brought back to my home, then I will have to take more time off to wait for their representative to come out and look at the chair. When I asked what they will do.. Daniel said they would have it many people have to work on this flimsy, wood framed chair, before they figure it can't be cobbled together any more and do the right thing? I have already wasted four days, waiting around for the chair to be picked up, or brought back.  I also filed with the BBB.

    UPDATE: well. this is their response to my BBB complaint. Now mind you, we told them that we were buying the recliner for my sister to use while recovering from knee surgery. "On January 24, 2014, Ms. Roberts contacted Customer Service due to her recliner breaking again. Customer Service reached out to the store and was informed the right arm had completely separated from the chair on the right side. When assessed, it was apparent Ms. Roberts had been using the arm of the chair as leverage when getting in and out of the chair which can weaken the frame and structure of the piece. This is not considered a manufacturing defect under the terms of the written warranty. However, in an attempt to satisfy Ms. Roberts, as a courtesy, another repair was completed on January 23, 2014, though the manufacturer's warranty had expired. When the store attempted to return the chair to her she declined it and requested a refund." Now, how can you say that using the arms of a chair to get up, is inappropriate use of the chair..?  They first tried to say we were sitting on the arm, but when they couldn't get away with that, this is what they came back with. Also, I have the chair, so when they said I refused to take the chair back, is just another lie they told.   Next thing they will come back with is lying on a mattress is inappropriate, or cooking in a stove..etc.

    I used an Angie's List Big Deal for 2 hours of repair work for $89.00. I emailed Mr. Barefoot to see if he serviced my area. He got back in touch with me quickly to let me know he did but for a $15.00 fee. I live 45-60 minutes from Charlotte and this extra charge seemed fair so I set up a date with him. He called a few days ahead of the arranged date to remind me he was coming which I appreciated. I had completely forgotten he was coming so we arranged another time. He was flexible and easy to work with on this. He arrived on the date close to the appointed time. I showed him 3 pieces of furniture that needed repair and explained I was very interested in the antique table the dog had chewed on being repaired but clearly said if he couldn't do it in 2 hours that he could work on any of the other pieces. He started work on the antique table.

    At the 2 hour limit he was not finished and frankly at a point of no return. He finished after an additional 45 minutes and charged me $40.00 for the extra time. 

    The table looked fabulous!  I got what I wanted.

    Professionally, I rated Mr. Barefoot as fair. Here's why.
    1. When I had to change the original appointment and came up with another one(Jan. 17), he called three times over the course of several days to try and come at a different time. I stuck to the January 17 appointment because it fit my schedule.
    2. He asked me to turn on the radio and find him a soft rock station.
    3. During his work I had to find a plug adapter.  
    4. Before he left I was asked to fill his cup with ice.
    5. I was in the adjancent room while he worked and he grunted and groaned loudly through the whole job.
    6. He kept telling me and my husband repeatedly how hard and fast he was working.
    7. When he finished he asked to stay 15 minutes to let his back rest.
    8. He answered his cell phone many times during the over- time but did try to get off the phone quickly.
    9. He did not clean up after himself because we were pushing him out the door.

    Frankly we thought he would never go.  
    Bottom line: Mr. Barefoot is a nice man who does nice work. The job he chose to do at my house took more time than the time I payed for with the Big Deal. I assumed he would be able to estimate the job time closer than he did. He also was given two other options to work with. He is high maintainance and talks a lot. He could tell we were annoyed with him so he did offer to reduce the price of coming back again, but I don't know that that will happen.
