  • I am finally deciding to write a review on Karl Tyler. I bought my vehicle from them in August of 2015 and my view and confidence in them has only gone downhill since then. My car had a 2 year warranty that covered oil changes, tire rotations, and most other routine services; so naturally I took my car to their service department. The first time that I took my vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation everything went smoothly and I was in and out in a reasonable time frame. Each time since then I have been very disappointed in both time and quality. I have always made an appointment, so I would expect for the staff to start working on my vehicle within a 20 minute window of my appointment time, or at the very least explain why this isn't happening. There were several times that I spent over 2 hours waiting at Karl Tyler for my oil to be changed and tires rotated. This is WAY to long for such a routine job. I do not understand why this would happen unless my appointment is pushed aside because there were vehicles dropped off that the service team was working on instead. What is the point of making an appointment if there isn't an effort to make sure that my vehicle is worked on during this time?!? The last time that I brought my vehicle in it was no longer under warranty; once again I made an appointment and even called prior to double check that they were not behind because I had to go to work afterwards. They guaranteed that I would have plenty of time to make it to work. Then when I get there, I bring it up again. The guy gets flustered and isn't sure they will get it done in the time frame (an hour and a half!) and so sends it over to their Karl Tyler express lube. I would not typically care about this other than the fact that they didn't end up rotating my tires or checking lights or windshield wipers, AND they charged me the same price that they would've for all of it! Overall, I have had better service at every other change place than what I have had at Karl Tyler. I would not recommend bringing your vehicle to them unless you have plenty of time to burn and/or your vehicle is under warranty with them.

  • Terrible. Was lied to to my face by Jim, a grey hair trustworthy looking guy. But turns out used car salesmen are all alike. Skeevy liars. I bought a Dodge Van from these scam artists and Jim told me "It's cherry" and has "No issues" as they had it on the lot for a few weeks and had it checked. Within a week after buying it the battery constantly goes dead. I took it to Ross at Hellage Conoco and he said it was a short in the computer or wiring. A situation Jim's Cars absolutely HAD to know about and lied about it. Avoid these scumbags at all cost.

  • Was overcharged dramatically but didn't know that until I checked around later. Also owner failed to put on my exhaust manifold correctly so now I have a hole in my exhaust manifold which makes a loud noise. The day I picked it up from being 'fixed' I called him back explained the loud noise now coming from underneath my car and he told me this: "I dont have time to do anything on it now but can see it in a week or two." Ummm so of course I get pulled over 2 days later and get a $350 ticket for noise pollution and a crack in my window. The cop was filling his monthly quota. Turns out he never 'got around to it' but did get around to turning it over to collections when I tried to make payment arrangements for the $500 owed him after 'fixing' my car, due to already having to pay for the several hundred dollar ticket I received due solely to him. Avoid this small business like the plague and go see Ross and Hellgate Conoco on East Broadway. Best mechanic in the state and does everything for cost and labor cheaper than anywhere else and certainly better than businesses that put "honest' in their title.

  • These people really know Toyotas. There was a little hitch in communications as they had a staff person on vacation, but the time the spent to explain the issues, what our alternatives were, and what they recommended was outstanding.

  • They're fast and good. The work took probably 20 minutes. The waiting area is small but its clean. The workers were very nice, kind of high-pressure sales and tried to upgrade my oil and that kind of thing.

I like the fact that they cleaned the windows inside out and vacuumed. I think they should just give you what you ask for and not trying to talk you into something else.

  • The experience with this company was extremely poor. I called over a week prior to making an appointment to request a specific day that I had off of work. Upon bringing my car in, they were late opening up and I find out they did not have me on the appointment schedule, nor was I written anywhere. On top of that the gentleman who works on the cars was on vacation. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled my appointment to the following week. I drop my car off at the shop at 8:00 a.m for them to do the work I needed. I get a phone call around 4:00 p.m the very same day stating that they changed the bulbs that were out in the car but didn't get to the locks since there was "another vehicle which needs to be up and running by tomorrow". I needed my car for work, so I couldn't leave it for another day. I picked it up, and it cost $175 to change the dash light bulbs. I went ahead and scheduled another appointment the following week so they could work on my locks. **Later I realize they did not install my air vent properly, the plastic parts were not aligned which caused the nozzle to not turn properly. I also noticed a small tear in the leather around the steering wheel on the back side where I assume taking the speedometer cluster out to put a bulb in hit the steering wheel, tearing the leather. Finally, my information display system had become much more dim on the right hand side. Today, 7/6/17 I go to drop my car off at 8:00 a.m (the time they say they open on their website) but no one was there. So I waited for 15 minutes until one of the employees showed up. I drop off my keys and explain to the front desk gentleman what I was having done, as well as what was done wrong at the last appointment. When I told him about the tear in the leather, he quickly brought up the fact that the car is a 1999 Saab and that it was probably "dried leather" which caused it to crack. I explained that the leather is in great condition and is routinely conditioned with leather cleaning products as well as conditioners. I reiterated the fact that it doesn't matter how old my car is, just to please be gentle when working. They had my car for over 6 hours when I got a phone call stating that the parts they ordered were NOT the correct parts and they would have to reorder everything. After I was told this would take an hour to install the parts for the door locks. This was the final straw with this company. I gave them the benefit of the doubt too many times. From messing up on scheduling, being late, installing parts incorrectly, and having my car for over 6 hours to inform me they simply didn't work. I am now going to be ordering the parts myself and installing them as well. This has been a frustrating few weeks. I do not recommend doing any business with them.

  • I have been to them before. I'm scheduled for an oil change next week. Whenever you go to them they wash the car and vacuum an clean the mats. I never have to wait ,they're always ready and willing. I went one time because I kept getting a low tyre light and they took the tyre off and put it back on and I haven't had that problem since. They didn't charge me. I don't have any dislikes.

  • Amos and Alvin are great! They are honest and reliable and will not charge for or do unnecessary work on your vehicle. They will give the best price they are able to and stick to it. They always will make room for you on those emergency days and will even provide a ride for you if you need it. I will always go to them!

  • When I learned that Mountain Imports had gone out of business, I needed to find a new mechanic in town.  I called Karl Tyler because I heard that they had expanded into Volkswagens.  They were busy, but were able to get me in within a week.  When I showed up, they helped me right away, took good notes on all of the concerns I had that I wanted them to look into.
Their courtesy shuttle service saved a lot of time and hassle.  They diagnosed and fixed everything I asked them to and their prices were reasonable--and less than Mountain Imports.  Perhaps the best part: they washed my car and vacuumed the interior.  For a mom with a 3 year old, this really won me over!

  • Everything went quickly and easily. I've used Advanced Auto before and they are always courteous and punctual. I feel like I can trust them with my car (2006 Subaru Outback) and they won't try to charge me for things I don't need. They have a reputation for being honest in this area (Denton, TX) and my experiences back that up. I waited for my car, and the waiting area could use some work - there is no dedicated waiting room, just some seats in the reception area. Nonetheless, I'll go back any day.
