  • I had a sewer backup and needed plumbing services.  My wife called Koocanusa Plumbing and asked if someone could come and fix it.  The lady at Koocanusa Plumbing told her they had already been out there last week and that we needed new lines.  My wife told her that they had not been to our house and the woman argued with her until finally my wife told her who we were.  The woman had gotten us mixed up with someone else.  So, the lady created a work ticket and said someone would be out first thing in the morning.

    The following morning arrived and no one from Koocanusa Plumbing showed up.  I called them and Al answered the phone and said there was no work ticket created for us.  I commenced to tell him that the customer service was horrible and that we were in an emergency with no plumbing services with family visiting from out-of-state.  I told him how the woman the day before had argued with my wife about who we were and that she had gotten us confused with someone else.  I expressed my disapproval at how the work ticket had not gotten created.  He nonchalantly brushed off what I had told him and then said that the earliest a plumber could come in was at 11:00 and that he would send him out to the house. 

    Eleven o'clock came with no one arriving to assist us.  I waited until 11:30 and finally called Koocanusa Plumbing to find out what was going on.  A woman answered, and I asked to speak with Al, but he was with a customer.  I asked her when he would call me back and she told me ten or fifteen minutes.  I waited until noon with no callback.  I then telephoned back and a man, who didn't give me his name, answered the phone.  I asked to speak with Al, and he told me that Al was busy.  I then told him the entire story of what I had told Al and how the customer service was horrible and that I had been waiting all this time because of the woman's initial screw up.  He then asked me, as if I were wasting his time, "Well, what do you want us to do?"  I immediately told him, "I want you to fix my sewer!  I'm looking for service!"  He said he would tell Al to call me but the earliest someone could make it out to my house was that afternoon.  I asked him if someone was going to call me if they wouldn't be able to make it.  He said "yes" and I hung up the phone with him.

    After a few minutes of stewing on how bad their service was, I finally called RotoRooter in Kalispell.  The man on the phone was very professional and told me he could be out to my house that day to fix the problem.  I then called Koocanusa Plumbing back to cancel the work ticket.  When I called, Al answered the phone.  I told him who I was and that I was calling to give them a courtesy call to cancel the work ticket because I went with someone else who could make it to my house that day.  Al then told me bluntly, "Yeah, you already spoke with one of my plumbers, and you p***** him off, so I threw your paperwork away."  I was pretty shocked at this.  He threw my paperwork away?  And, for what reason?  I couldn't believe how unprofessional this guy and this whole outfit was.  I told him that I would never use their service again and we both hung up.  It dawned on me that Al and the rest of the unprofessional crew at Koocanusa Plumbing were going to leave me and my family high and dry with no plumbing and not even call me to give me the courtesy of saying they weren't going to tackle the job, after I was told otherwise multiple times during the day.  They were completely negligent in their customer service.

    Koocanusa Plumbing is highly unprofessional and gives horrible service.  When the RotoRooter serviceman came to my house and fixed the problem (which only took about half an hour), I told him what happened with them.  He shook his head and told me with disappointment that Koocanusa Plumbing's bad reputation had reached all the way to Kalispell and that most everyone knew how bad they were.  The serviceman told me that in the past he had been called to complete jobs in fifteen minutes where Koocanusa Plumbing had worked three days on.  To this day, I have not been called by Koocanusa Plumbing to explain or apologize for their bad conduct in how they carried themselves with me.

    Koocanusa Plumbing's personnel will not change their unprofessional nature because Canadians who come across the border for plumbing services utilize their services and keep them in business.  So, they can afford to p*** off customers and lose them because there are Canadians who come in to replace the ones they drove away.  I've never witnessed a business drive its customers away, but there's a first time for everything.  They succeeded in driving me away permanently.  I had been told by others not to use Koocanusa Plumbing, but I did and I got burned.  Now, I tell everyone I know to steer clear from them and get someone else in town or go out-of-town and spend a little extra money to get much more professional service.

    Summary: Koocanusa Plumbing is highly unprofessional with immensely negligent customer service.
    Recommendation: Go with someone in Whitefish or Kalispell if Koocanusa Plumbing is your only choice in Eureka.
