  • The call was for an ice maker issue in the Electrolux refrigerator plus another issue with an Electrolux dishwasher.   He walked into the kitchen and stopped dead in his tracks, saying Electrolux had issues with ice makers in these old refrigerators (only 6-7 years old) and wasn't worth trying to fix because he had never had any luck with them (he looked to be in his twenties, that's a lot of experience to base a comment like that on or an admission that he's not a good appliance repairman).  He asked if i used a rinse aid in the dishwasher and said that would solve that problem.  He may have opened the door of the dishwasher to come to that conclusion but I don't recall that he even did that.  He almost didn't look at the ice maker but I made him open the door and take a look.  He rattled off about 3 parts that could the problem with the ice maker and said they were expensive and he didn't recommend trying.   He was in my house for maybe 10 minutes and for this I had to pay a $80.25 service fee.

    I asked him about the ice maker parts and based on his descriptions said I'd be willing to try one particular part because that was the only one that had anything to do with the symptoms.  He then said that was the only part that would deal with the symptoms I mentioned (thanks for the recommendation!).  They ordered it and he came back and installed it and haven't had any issues since then, but given the history of the ice maker I'm not declaring it fixed yet, that will come in another 6-8 weeks.  But to be clear, if it is fixed it is not a victory for Jay's Appliance Repair, I had to tell him that I wanted to order that part.  He merely agreed with me after I told him.

    Not happy that he didn't want to work on my stuff.  When he came back to install the part in the refrigerator I told him the problem with the dishwasher was still there after about 6 cycles with rinse aid.  He barely acknowledged that and changed the subject.  I just wanted him out of my house at that point.

    Based on that experience with Jay's Appliance Service I joined Angies List so i could find a reputable company to come fix the dishwasher.  Imagine my surprise (and disgust) to see Jay's listed with an "A" rating.  I figure at this point I got ripped off by joining Angies List.  Based on their advertising I thought it was supposed to protect me from fly-by-night companies such as Jay's Appliance Service!!

  • My Dryer would not turn on. I used Angie's List for a recommendation. I promptly received a call from Jay's Appliance and after talking to the lady about repairs we set up an appointment. The tech arrived on time and repaired the dryer. Very good service and very polite, professional people. The cost was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again if I need any more repairs.

  • When the appointment was made, the problem was discussed. It was suggested that I call back with model number so any parts that may need replacement were readily available. Technician called 15 minutes before arrival, came on time. Went to work right away, found the problem and replaced an igniter all within about an hour.

  • I called Coast Appliance Repair LLC to schedule a appointment to have my washing machine repaired. It was not spinning at all. I talked to Bobby on the phone, and scheduled a time convenient for the appointment. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast they were able to be there, considering everyone else I called was going to be more than a week before they could show up.
    They called me ahead of time to let me know they were on the way. They arrived on time in clean-cut professional uniforms. As some of you may know- most of the time, this is not the case.
    After quickly diagnosing the problem with my washing machine, they gave me the exact price for what it would cost to repair the issue. Most companies promise you it will not be much, but when you get the bill it is a different story. While they were fixing my washing machine I mentioned my dryer was taking longer than normal to dry, They asked me if I had ever had my duct cleaned. SURPRISE! I did not know you needed this service done.Having two dogs in the house, and never having it cleaned yielded TONS OF LENT!! After they showed me how much lent they removed from my dryer, you could tell immediately a difference in the airflow from the duct. 
    Best part of all, they accept credit card payments. Past companies I have dealt with only want cash, or check. They also email you a receipt so you can save it on your computer, unlike most companies give you a hand written receipt that immediately is lost. I 100% recommend this company to anyone that needs their appliances repaired.

  • I've used Mr. D's Appliance Repair for 12 years. He's repaired ovens, cook tops, washers, dryers and refrigerators for us over the years. He responds quickly to calls for help, cleans up after himself and each time he works here, I learn helpful information about how to best use appliances. His charges are reasonable.

  • I called this morning to see if they could fix my ice maker that was not making ice. They told me they were totally booked but they would try to work me in this afternoon. They called later and said they would be able to look at it. Mr. D came when they said he would and he immediately knew what the problem was. He had the part on his truck and the repair took only a few minutes. It is now making ice perfectly and the cost was less than I expected. I will definitely use them again.

  • eThis man was very professional. He pinpointed the problem over the phone (including the charge for parts). He not only fixed our refrigerator, but he noticed that we had a slow draining kitchen sink and advised us on how to fix the problem (with no additional charge). I highly recommend this repairman!!
