Glass Block Installation reviews in University City

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Glass Blocks of St. Louis was recommended to us by a friend, and we checked them out on Angie's List where they had stellar reviews.  We then contacted them and Ron Boyer, the owner, came out to give us an estimate the next week.  He took measurements, explained the process of installation to us, answered our questions about the windows, and then came up with his estimate.  It seemed reasonable to us, so we signed a contract at the end of the meeting.
We received a call from Ron the day before our agreed upon installation date and he informed us that Chris and Dean would be coming out to install our windows.  The next day, they reported on time (at 8:00 AM) and we showed them the window locations.  They proceeded with their work immediately, first removing all of the old windows and then installing the new ones.  They were pleasant to have around and answered questions when we had them.  They worked quickly and efficiently and the job was complete by 1:30, including clean-up and our inspection of their work.  They did a great job and we are very pleased with the results!  They make our house much more attractive on the outside, and inside the basement.  I'm sure we will have a much warmer basement since our existing basement windows were the original, single-pane variety common in many houses of its vintage (1933).  They also did a very thorough cleanup,   Very professional!

  • In order to repair a damaged and leaking glass block window, and to replace the remaining three pane windows, we asked Glass Block company to provide a proposal, which we accepted.   They were able to schedule our project around our travel plans, which was very much appreciated.   The project was fairly straight forward, although the existing glass block window could not be effectively repaired, so we opted to have it replaced as well.   Everything turned out great.

  • We had 9 windows replaced with Masonry and Glass Systems, Inc. in June 2010. We got three estimates from three different companies. Masonry and Glass Systems offered a good energy efficient window (U factor 0.27) and a reasonable price. They were easy to work with, and did the work in a timely manner. We didn?t get a lot of forewarning before they came over, but luckily we had moved everything out of the room the weekend prior. We had to pay a $755 for lead containment, which is to be expected for an old house. Overall, we were happy with the process and would recommend them.

  • Ismet (the boss, with whom I dealt) promised to come on a Monday. He telephoned and said he could not come, because he discovered his car registration had expired. Came the following day, but worked only half a day. Brought men to help him finish the job that Friday. The basement leak seemed fixed, but when it rained for several days, it became clear that it had not been fixed. He promised to fix it the next day (Saturday) but then said the part he needed was not available, and that he would come on Monday. He id not arrive that Monday. I was unable to reach him by his cell phone (which is the only way he can be reached). I kept telephoning all that week, with no response. (I even tried the phone book, where I found an Ismet Mujagic, but when I phoned, the man denied all knowledge of Avondale.) That Friday, Ismet telephoned me. He said he was in Chicago, because of a death in his family, and promised to come the following day. He came and finished the work that Saturday. I discovered a new leak and discussed putting in a glass block window, like two windows he had already installed for me. We agreed on a price, and he promised to come the following Monday. That Monday, he called and said he had another job and would come the following day, Tuesday. On Tuesday, he called and said he was in the Emergency Room, that a fragment had gone into his eye the previous day. When I telephoned him during the week, to find out how he was, and when he would come to install the window, he was not answering his phone. I left a message, and he called and said he was home, as advised by the docctor, and would come that Saturday. He did not arrive on Saturday, nor did he answer his cell phone, that Saturday, or the entire following week. Ismet is a lovely human being, who has done excellent work for me in the past. But there have been too many delays, postponements, and disappearances (when he could not be reached at all). I'm going to have to reluctantly find someone else to put in the basement window and do whatever other repairs I need.

  • The man who came to give the estimate was on time and friendly. They had the windows ready to install the next week, but we had to reschedule the installation several times due to it being too cold. The man who installed them did a great job, finished on time, and cleaned up all his mess. The windows look terrific, and we couldn't be happier with them.
