    Vidcom Electronics Repair
This provider is approximately 40 miles from my home and well worth the drive! I started with this provider's website which was extremely informative regarding modern televisions and types of repairs. First point of contact was a great experience and I was given diagnosis fees ($50), lead time, and approximate high end cost of repair. Normal business hours are 9 - 5 Monday through Friday, however, I was allowed to drop off my TV on Saturday morning before service calls began. I dropped my TV off Saturday, October 25. Long called on Tuesday with a diagnosis and informed me that my part may take up to 2 weeks because Samsung had to order it. On Thursday, October 30, Long called back to inform me that the parts came in right away and my TV would be done by Saturday morning! The complete job took 1 week, was $3 less than the estimate, has a 30 day warranty, and my TV works like a charm. This provider also uses the $50 diagnosis fee toward payment of repair services. Service calls are available, I do not know what those fees are. This shop is a factory authorized service center. I am extremely happy with my services and will return if I ever have another repair job.

    ROBY TV SVC
This company was recommended by friends so we did not obtain any other estimates. We called and received an estimate over the phone of $350 for the installation of the antenna on the roof and connections in up to four rooms (using pre-existing cable connections). We were told the antenna could be installed on the roof, the side of the house, or perhaps even the yard. We could expect to receive approximately 10 local channels. We needed to provide the cable between the wall connections and the televisions. We scheduled to have to work done the following week. Mr. Smith got a little lost looking for our house (which is not uncommon) but still arrived very close to the time scheduled. He took a look at the house, determined that given the terrain, the antenna would need to go on the roof; he then confirmed the estimated cost; and got right to work. The installation of the roof antenna seemed to go smoothly, and he even pointed out a few loose shingles that needed attention. He had some trouble locating the cable connections within the house but eventually located them and was able to test two of the four connections. We do receive 8 channels. It turned out the third connection was to a television requiring a digital converter (it's an older TV) and it turns out the fourth room we wanted connected didn't have an existing cable connection so we decided not to install in that room. A week or so later we got the digital converter (an additional $65 from Radio Shack) for the old TV and discovered the connection was not functioning. We called Mr. Smith and he suggested we look at the connections in the garage and see if we could figure out the correct connection and to give him a call if we couldn't. We haven't gotten around to doing that yet - obviously that last connection isn't critical. We weren't thrilled with the aesthetics regarding the way the cable runs off the roof and down the side of the house next to the deck, but I'm not sure how it could be hidden without fishing it behind the siding (2 floors worth) and we don't know if that can be done. We'll get used to it. Also, it appears the cables to the satellite dish were cut, and while we were no longer using it, the equipment is still there, and there is a chance we might use it in the future. While it may have been necessary to complete the antenna installation, we would have preferred he consult with us before cutting those cables. Mr. Smith was friendly and courteous and willing to climb onto the roof a three story house. We've since had several bad wind storms and the antenna is still securely mounted to the roof and we are still receiving signal so overall we are happy with the installation.

    Sears Home Improvement Products
The Sears technician said he could not get parts for my projection TV and because of that he did not charge me for the service call. He called to let me know what time he would be here and he was on time. He was very professional. I would call Sears again for service.

    VOLUME MART
Took 3 weeks to get part on a less than a year old plasma tv.  When the part came in they called to set up a time to fix the tv and agreed on a set time.  They were an hour late with no call to tell me they were running late but they were efficient  when it came to putting the part on.

A PLUS TV SALES AND SERVICE
Arrived two hours later than arranged, but called twice to say that he'd be delayed. He tried to sell me an a/b switch rather than fix the set. He said that it would be "too expensive" to fix. I made the appointment and let him into my home with the clear understanding that he would fix the set; instead, he tried to sell me an a/b switch as a "workaround." Even when he had the a/b switch unpacked, he wouldn't commit to a price. It was still "between $50 and $100." I was angry and felt that I was being bamboozled, if not actually scammed. I told him that I didn't want to do business with him. He and his sidekick (a gristly "silent Bob") packed their kits and left. The next day, a friend showed me how to reconfigure my VCR and DVD player connections at no cost. The RCA jacks still don't work, but now they're superfluous.

    O'Fallon Electronics
The in-home appointment was scheduled for 10-11-10 between 4:00 and 5:00. I waited until 5:20 and then called the company to see why they had not shown up for the appointment. The man on the phone informed me that he had forgotten to write down the appointment. I expressed minor frustration with the fact that I would have to leave work early again to reschedule and the man became extremely disrespectful and told me that he didn't want to hear how he had ruined my life and that I should find somebody else to do the repair then he hung up on me.

    ACTION ELECTRONIC SERVICES
Steve talks a good talk initially. Then totally unresponsive to calls, emails, etc. He was furious when we finally contacted the Mitsubishi company headquarters to get the work done. He had our TV held hostage for 7 months. The police department admits that they have had several dealings with irate customers of his. He is a snake in the grass.

    Roy's Home Entertainment Rpr
He kept it about two months. It was prior to the Super Bowl game. I asked him if it couldn’t be repaired to at least let us know so that we could make different arrangements for the Super Bowl game. He waited till the day before the game and called and said that there was more wrong with it than he had anticipated. I had told him before he made any repairs not to do anything and to let us know in what condition it was and if it was worth being repaired. It was quite a lengthy time to let us know something. He didn’t give the TV back. He quoted the price as $70 in the beginning to repair it and he never did give me a final total of what it was going to be. I didn’t pay him anything. I figured out that either he wasn’t repairing it or just holding it and getting around to it. Either he scrapped it or told us an untruth that it was shock and he had resold it or kept it himself. I have no idea. It was disappointing. When we went there, the place was full of TV’s and stereos and stuff like that. He had quite a job in his hands and I don’t know if it is because he was so busy that he took his time getting back to us or what but he could have at least given us a courtesy call stating what was going on with it so that we could be prepared. I would absolutely not use him again in the future.
