Concrete Driveway Installation reviews in Rolla

The first time the contractor showed up, he took measurements and immediately gave me an estimate. The price he quoted was considerably less than bids from other local contractors. I asked him about the need to repair or replace a clogged culvert at the end of the drive. He estimated that it would add another $900 to the project, but advised me to contact the county road department instead. The county performed work that made replacement of the culvert unnecessary.
The contractor's crews showed up on the days promised and finished on time and on budget. The crew cleaned up after themselves and left the work site looking as good as when they arrived. I don't know how the pavement will hold up in the future, but it looks good now. To all appearances, the quality of the work is excellent and I expect it to give good service for a long time.

    1. It took a very long time to complete job. Job was started beginning of September. Final check after inspection was made mid November.
    2. The crew was not mindful of cleanup after the day's work. Trash was left on site.
    3. The crew was not mindful of existing landscaping and shrubbery. My hosta plants at the rear of the house and some evergreen shrubs in front of the house were trampled upon. Shrubs never did recover.
    4. Clean up after project was completed was not great. They said they would go around the house with a metal detector to make sure all nails were picked up. I'm still finding nails almost two years later!
    5. Prior to hire, they told us of some jobs they had done, but when we asked addresses to go see the work, they indicated the properties were on gated areas and we could not actually see them. Should have been first sign of a problem.
    6. While they indicated they had previous experience with Hardie siding, I question whether they did. After the work was completed, I tried to research to see what energy tax credits might be available. The Hardie website indicated that a certificate could be issued if work was done when required underwrap was installed replacing any existing siding. I do not think an underwrap was applied as required, and efforts to get a response from Brett Gromowski were unanswered. I also tried to have him give me an estimate of parts vs. labor after the job was complete, and got no response.
    7. We had them come back twice after job was completed for odds and ends stuff that was left undone, e.g., wires that were not rehung, areas that were not caulked properly.
I do understand there were some issues regarding ownership during our job. Unfortunately, it impacted the work done and left us with a very poor impression of their professionalism. While they were not the highest bid we got, they were not the lowest. In hindsight, I would have used Rainbow Siding and Seamless Guttering.

t I called Jand B and they arrived the same day, although it was about 7 that night because they were on a job site, to give me a quote. They quoted $5498.13 to tear down my little deck, rebuild it, level form up and pour a concrete patio( for the patio that cost was just for labor, not the concrete) , and fix some siding that was damaged in a hail storm. The price seemed very fair to us,and we scheduled for the following week. They arrived early the day the stated they would, and they began immediately. They had the old beat up deck torn down and the trash from that removed within 2 hours. (WOW) 2 of the men started framing up the new deck while one of the guys started fixing the damaged siding. The color of the replacement siding wasn't an exact match, but with the age of the siding our home, I am pleased that they were able to get that close. With siding fixed (1 hour max) that worker went and started framing up for the concrete BBQ patio. They were able to get it all framed up and got the posts up, and also the frame for the concrete before the end of the day. The following morning they had the concrete truck there at 7 am to pour the concrete, and had that done and skimmed I believed it's called by 830. By 9 am they were all on the deck putting the flooring on. This took a few hours to do, but they all stayed on it. They had the flooring put on by lunch and were ready for the rails. After they got back from lunch they were able to put up the hand rails and built our new steps. The steps couldn't get attached yet because the concrete wasn't dry or cured enough I guess so they cleaned up and went home. The next morning they came back and removed the frame around the concrete BBQ patio, and attached the new steps, and build our hand rails going down the steps. I am VERY HAPPY with they way these guys work. I will call them with any other jobs I would need.
