    Went in the local Sears store appliance center on Monday of this week to buy a new microwave.  Wanted a good one but not a convection model.
    Went back Thursday to make purchase after researching the various models on line to make my pick.
    Arrived in store approximately 9:00 am. I walked around the entire appliance and electronic departments looking for an employee.  I next went to the tool department where I found two employees.  I asked if they would get me some help in appliances.  The male clerk rather briskly said there was an employee there somewhere.  When I told him I had walked the entire department and no one was there he rudely said that he guessed he could page someone.
    After waiting at the register while waving at the security cameras no employee ever showed up.  I then used my cell phone to call the main store number and asked for a manager.  Sorry it's his day off.  Assistant manager?  Well the telephone employee asked if she could help.  I explained my desire for a clerk in appliance and was told that one was on duty there somewhere.  After telling her that no one was around, she agreed to page one.
    After the employee finally showed up, he was polite and apologetic explaining he was looking for something in the storeroom for another customer.  While I waited for assistance two other customers showed up in the same department.  This poor guy had to take all the heat from four sets of customers because the store would only schedule 1 employee for two entire departments.
    When it was finally my turn, the microwave I had selected to buy (one that on Monday could be in the store the next day from the warehouse) would be available for pick up it 12 to 14 days.  Option number two, 2-4 days.  Option number three, 2-4 days.  Finally, I asked what do you have I can take with me.  Three, returned used units on clearance and the most expensive unit with all the whistles and bells and $300 more than I wanted to pay.  It was only there because someone had cancelled their purchase and it hadn't gone back to the warehouse yet. Left the store after two hours empty handed.

    You expect fast and reliable service at WalMart not a four hour wait when there doesn't appear to be a line.  I was told the only scheduled 1 service tech that morning and he was backed up.  I'm not waiting 4 hours for this, so I left and went to another WalMart in town and was in and out in 45 minutes.
    To make it worse, I called the 1 -800 WAL MART hot line to let corporate know what was happening.  They were good and interested in the story.  Said the store manager would call with apology. He did a week later, but all he wanted to know was which employee told me that there was only 1 service tech.  Seemed he was more interested in who ratted him out than fixing a problem.

    Was rear-ended at a stop sign. Insurance paid it all, was able to choose the shop. I used the dealer previously and they were good, but were backed up with work, so selected this independent shop. The work was perfectly done, on time, and was treated very well from start to finish. Would use again without hesitation.

    AJ's is positively different from other service shops in that they keep a running record on their computer of what was done.
    Allen and his wife treat their customers like friends. They distinguish themselves by being not like the impersonal and stoic service managers one finds at dealerships. While I was at the shop, I noticed them showing patient concern with their customer's problem and made every effort to think of a solution.
    I do not know if it is in their favor or not, but they have generally been slow in billing for the work: I did not receive a bill for the most recent service (6/24 - 8/2) until 9/4/2011.
