  • Las Aguilas contracting delivers a level of quality, value, and integrity that my wife and I didn't think existed in this industry. Jose and his team showed up consistently each day at the same time, and didn't leave until the job was done RIGHT. If they were going to be there at a different time, they let us know. We were kept informed every step of the way. These guys grew up as builders and it shows, their work is bar none the best value and highest quality I have ever seen out of a dozen different companies. Other contractors said a drywall ceiling couldn't be installed in our basement bedroom... Las Aguilas not only made it work, but were the most competitive bid we received. Most importantly, they have integrity. A couple of months after the initial work we found our selves in a desperate situation requiring us to gut our kitchen in a short time frame. Las Aguila's was there for us in our time of need. They rearranged other jobs, pulled long hours, just to help us out. We didn't spend tens of thousands of dollars with them previously to get this kind of treatment. This is just who they are... people who do the right thing whether your looking or not. We give them our highest recommendation and you can trust that your work will be delivered above your expectations, on time, and on budget.

  • We worked with Darryl and Angie on two different projects over the past two years, each costing approximately $5000.  Obviously, we were happy enough with the first to bring them back a second time.  The first project involved cutting out a portion of our kitchen wall to open it up with the living room and placing a counter top on this to create a bar.  They did a fantastic job taking out the wall and integrating the new space.  It opened up an entire section of the house and created a whole new feel to the space.  On the second job, they hung drywall over a large portion of preexisting plaster walls in our living room area and installed new trim on all the windows and doors, as well as crown molding.  Again, the quality of the work was excellent and completely changed the look of the rooms.  The craftsmanship on both projects was great and all of the staff were excellent to work with.  Darryl provided detailed estimates and explains the options and methods he suggests in a manner that's easy to understand.  This was particularly helpful for my wife and I as neither of us are very "handy."  We also never felt misled in any way.  Both of our projects were on budget and on time, with no surprises or difficulties.  The crews were also excellent to work with and we always felt comfortable having them in our home, much of the time when we were gone at work.  We were even on vacation during one project and had no problem leaving a key with the crew to let themselves in and out.  They also go to great lengths to make sure they limit the mess, as much as possible, and clean up at the end of each work day.  Angie does the scheduling, and she is also easy to communicate with and stayed in touch with us throughout the projects completion. On our first project, we had several estimates and their prices were very close to other companies and we went with GA Chott based on their ratings and were glad we did so.  On our second project, we felt no need to obtain other estimates.  We have a few future projects we hope to complete in the coming years and when we decide to undertake them, GA Chott will be our first and only call.

  • We hired him to remodel the bathroom to be handicap accessible. Everything he did was wrong. He put tile on top of existing floor. He did not pull up the old tile and put a sub floor. Nothing is level and it is freezing in the winter because there is no sub floor. He installed the handicap tub incorrectly. There are holes that you can see through. The plumbing is not done correctly. The water pressure is not correct. The new marble top for the vanity is cracked and it was brand new. The paint job is horrible. He was very sloppy. He started other jobs in the kitchen. He did drywall, removed/installed doors, installed a sub floor, and started painting the cabinets. The drywall job was sloppy. He did not install the doors properly. The sub floor had a crack in it. He started painting the cabinets but never finished them. He also took down my copper gutters. He installed part of the gutters incorrectly.

  • The entire experience with Josh Dunn and his team went extremely well. I had another contractor over to look at the space, and his estimate was 30k, he really had no good ideas for what to do with the originally awkward layout, and he advised that I should move my two kids (ages 1 and 4) out of the upstairs during the remodel. Josh walked in and immediately envisioned what to do with the space and came in with a lower estimate. He and Mike worked meticulously, controlled dust, and cleaned up every afternoon before they left. They did any and all sawing and tile-cutting outside. My baby took naps in the basement, but both my kids slept at night in their own beds in their rooms, and I never worried about dust. Josh and Mike are polite and professional, keep you informed of the process, and are also very good at what they do. No drywall seam is visible, no tile is crooked, and the paint job is extremely clean. Our remodel was extensive enough that we needed city (Richmond Heights) permits, and that required that separate electricians and plumbers do that work and that everything (electrical, plumbing, building) be inspected two times. All of that slowed things down, but Josh and Mike communicated so well and kept everything so neat that I had no complaints. They also subcontracted out to workers who were as nice and professional as they are. I will have Dunn Home Improvements do any home remodeling project, large or small, that arises in the future.

  • Even though the weather did NOT cooperate with this project and it took and extended time to complete, the owner was in regular contact with us.  The job is beautiful and I am glad he recommended the tile over a painted wood floor.

  • Richard (owner and operator of Nations Drywall Repair) was very pleasant to work with.  He reached out to me quickly and we settled on a time when he could come by and see the repairs needed to quote.  His quote was in the range with the other quote I received, and I felt much more at ease and confident in his abilities so I booked the work through him.  The work was scheduled out ~3 weeks which was OK as I wasn't in a rush to complete the job.  He showed up on time and quickly made good progress on the repair work.  The repairs look fantastic and he gave me good advise on prepping the ceiling for a few fresh coats of paint.  Richard was highly skilled and very professional, a true pleasure to work with!  Another great Angie's List provider connections!

  • My wife and I own a home that was built in 1898. When we were soliciting bids for a LONG OVERDUE bathroom remodel, I had cast a pretty wide net on Angie's List trying to find a contractor with experience working with old homes, and someone I felt that we could trust. I found that contractor with Dunn Home Improvements.
Josh Dunn and his brother, Mike, began work on our bathroom renovation on a Monday morning. Upon entering the home, they laid down drop cloths and stair savers to keep from tracking in - and out - debris and general construction mess through the house. The demolition took a half day, and everything was carefully removed, and very meticulously cleaned. Color me impressed!
The rest of the project flew by, with Josh and Mike framing in the bathroom, running electric, plumbing, et cetera. The first week ended with leveling compound on the floor, set to cure and level out what was quite possibly the most un-even floor in our old home -- mission accomplished! The second week buttoned up with a beautiful tile job, painting, and installation of cabinets. We finally had a bathroom that we could be proud of. The transformation was complete!
I plan on keeping Josh and Mike on speed-dial for other projects for our home. Throughout the entire engagement, I felt not only informed, but empowered. The attention to detail is second-to-none, and I almost can't wait to start more renovation projects to work with Dunn Home Improvements again.

  • Overall the project went very well.  John Y is the 'front man' and sets up the design and helps with product choices.  I worked with an independent designer as well, so for the most part they worked well together.  The real gem is the crew and the two other managing partners, Bill and Brad, who work with and oversee the crew. If there were any issues, Bill made sure they were corrected.  We did experience some miscommunication, so it's a good idea to hang onto emails and any written correspondence and double check sizes/plans prior to ordering items.  However, the workmanship was excellent. And the project would have been finished a week early, had we not encountered an issue with an order.

Project was extensive.  Bathroom - rerouted plumbing; new plumbing and electric; new subfloor & drywall; tiled shower/tub area; new tub/shower; new ceiling; lighting; sink/toilet; moved doorway to make new access and install pocket door.

Kitchen - new drywall; subfloor; plumbing; electric; cabinets; countertops; sink & fridge; removed window and installed larger window with window seat/cabinets; backsplash; lighting.

    Tile work was especially good.

  • Tom does excellent work.  He showed up on time, and made the repairs look better than I thought possible.   He also cleaned up after himself nicely.   He is very professional and was a pleasure to have in my house.  I would highly recommend him.
