AMidwest Concrete & Const IncTom and his crew were incredible. Professional, personable, and went above and beyond when we tweaked some things WHILE they were doing the job. We also added a small side job (parking area) and they were able to get the materials and complete it all ahead of schedule. HIGHLY recommend them!- Edward L.

ADemolitionJeff Sawyer started the project days earlier than expected . Very happy with the time spent having materials delivered and quality workmanship..His company has done a fantastic job and made our place look so much better plus has improved our road beyond what we expected. We have previously spent hundreds of dollars trying to make it driveable. He knew exactly what to do to fix the run off and solve our water issues. He is coming back to do landscaping for us. His years of experience are very evident. He is very easy to work with and very professional! I will call Mr. Sawyer anytime I need anything done. He takes his work very personally.- Judy T.

AMidwest Concrete & Const IncWe initially contacted Midwest for a bid to replace our asphalt driveway and concrete porch/sidewalk. Their response was quick and while walking over the area we discussed some plans we had that went beyond just concrete work. Tom offered some suggestions that made sense and let us know that he is capable of handling carpentry/construction type work. Our project ended up consisting of a new driveway with apron/turn-around, new stamped front porch, 3-tiered stone walls on the downhill corner of the house, new patio for basement walkout and stairs/walkway connecting front porch with the patio. We also had them rehab our 20 year old deck. After determining that the structure was sound they added/upgraded much of the hardware, replaced some footings, replaced the stairs and replaced all the deck boards and top rail. In addition, the front porch has a two-story high roof extension over it that had to be supported during the replacement of the concrete. Tom came up with the idea of replacing the four existing posts with just two posts to open up the front entrance area. The project was completed last June with some finishing touches done this fall. We have been pleased with the quality of the work and Tom’s attention to detail. He offered many good ideas/suggestions during the course of the work. Even though the project seemed to grow as we progressed, they still met our deadlines. Our new stamped patio at our basement walkout is our new favorite place to hang out. . The crews were professional and the quality of the work is excellent and all of our deadlines were met. We would use them again on future projects.- Teresa R.

AMidwest Concrete & Const IncTom Silber was the first of five contractors that I contacted to return my call. He was also the first to come by the job site for an interview and job description. Their bid was prompt and reasonable. Tom was very prompt to return my calls when I had a question. Once the contract was signed and the weather cleared up, his son, Chris, came by and had the job done in two working days. I was impressed with his work ethic, quality, and the pride he took in his work. I would definitely hire them again.- Bob & Jerry S.

AEverything ExcavationIt was three jobs total the first covered clearing 6 acres of heavily wooded acreage and it went great. Then I hired for cutting my driveway and then cleaning and leveling a pad on the side of a hills for a lower shop. All three went great. I also just hired for another job to clear a field for a garage. Great work!- Demetri C.

AUltimate LandscapeIt went extremely well. At first I wasn't sure of the design he came up with for the flower bed, but, I went with it and was extremely impressed on how it came out. I can definitely see now that he knows exactly what he is talking about. I wish I had more yard for him to sculpt!- Ronald B.

ADoss & Harper Stone Co.We have had companies bring chat for our driveway in the past and their service has been anywhere from acceptable to awful. The driver of the dump truck for Doss & Harper was very courteous, knowledgeable, respectful of our property and helpful. He was very careful to deposit the rock exactly where it was needed in layers that would properly fill in the potholes and provide a level and smooth surface that would last through many rains and vehicle trips up and down the driveway. No one has ever done as fine a job as Doss & Harper. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs gravel or stone work.- Laura S.

ADunn Home Improvements LLC1) The patio took a couple of days to complete and is a beautiful new addition to my yard. 2) The basement took several weeks to complete. Lots of plastic was hung to control the dust. Josh asked for my input and opinions as section by section was completed. When the basement was complete it looked fantastic! It looked so good that it made my main level seem drab. 3) The bathrooms on the main level took about a couple of weeks to complete. Lots of beautiful tile work. Both of my bathrooms are beautiful. 4) The main level took about a month to complete. He would work on one room at a time so he didn?t disrupt the whole house. Now my entire home is brand new and looks fantastic. Josh Dunn was always punctual. He was professionally dressed and had all of the tools needed for the jobs that he performed. His work is meticulous and he is very exacting in all that he did. I've just spoken with Josh and he will be installing new electrical outlets inside of my garage and the outside soon.- Jo C.

BKelley & Sons Mini QuarryThe business does not keep regular hours and you just have to keep leaving voicemails or catch someone at the office when they're open. Once we got past that, they were very friendly and even discounted delivery for our second load of rocks.- Joshua B.

FT Star Landscape ConstructionHe promised a lot of things that he never did. When we got the bill, it was a third MORE than we talked about. When we asked him about it, he pointed out things that he did that were not included in the bid. I pointed out that the things that were promised in the bid were not done, but he would avoid my questions and make excuses. He said he did things the way he thought he should do them, but I said he should have talked to me about that and should have told me when the price was getting higher than we discussed. I paid him what was originally discussed, not what he was asking for. He was a nice guy and a smoothe talker, but he didn't follow through with anything.- Marie H.

DS&D lawn services originally bid me $10,500 for a retaining wall. After the work was started, they ended up eventually billing me $15,288.91, which was almost $5,000 over (50% over) his initial bid. In addition to the retaining wall, I hired Scott to also dig out a water line, place some drain tile, plant grass at my house, and dig some trampoline holes. This was an additional charge of $4,828.26. The total we were billed for EVERYTHING was $20,617.17. The first complaint I have is the water line job. Not only did he place the line incorrectly/not deep enough, but he lied to me about it and changed his story multiple times once most of the 200 feet was already buried and he was caught. When I confronted Scott about the water line not being deep enough, he did not own up to the mistake. He first tried to say that it was no big deal because he could just put insulating wrap around it and it would be fine. He then tried to claim that the shallow water line was MY FAULT. He claimed that I told him to grade the property and shave a foot off the depth of my soil after the water line was placed. This claim is false, but even if it was true, HE SHOULD HAVE REFUSED to grade the property WITHOUT TALKING TO ME ABOUT THE RISKS because it would have made the water line too shallow. There is no way I would have consented to a grading job if I knew it was going to cause my water line to freeze. The second complaint I will mention is the rental equipment. Scott rented equipment for weeks at a time, and many days that equipment just sat on our property unused. He later complained about the equipment rental costs and that I needed to give more money to cover it. This is one main reason why I had to pay significantly over the initial bid. The third complaint I have has to do with S&D’s professionalism at times. Scott raised his voice at me multiple times over phone, and even hung up on my wife one day when she asked him to keep one of his appointments. He would commit to working on certain dates/times, would not show up, and would not communicate as to why he didn’t show. Lastly, I have concerns over the competence in this company if the scope of the work is beyond lawn and tree work. As mentioned above, he didn't put in the water line to code, but he also wasn't backfilling the wall correctly either. In both cases I had to have another contractor tell me how to fix the problem. I ended up paying a total of $18,669.60 for S&D's jobs, and not a single one of the projects that I paid them for was ever completed. After almost four months of waiting, I had to just pay other people to finish everything. It was an incredible loss of time and money for me.

AHe was here on time finished the work in one day and was very pleasant to be around. He replaced the fixtures and pipework that had rotted away in the tub and shower. He was respectful of me and my children, did the work quickly and very well. There were a few issues with the job that were unforseen at the start. I had no idea that the pipes were rotting away! He warned me beforehand about any issues and costs that could happen. He also thoroughly went over the contract before signing. Our shower has not had as good of pressure as it does now in years! Thank you Ruhl and Son Construction and Excavation!

AMichael and his assistant were professional. They worked hard (at the end of the day) and cleaned a very, very dirty fireplace on a new home we had just purchased. I don't think it had ever been cleaned (house is 20 years old). It was a fire hazard and we are happy that it is now usable (and safe).
