Hvac Repair reviews in North Kansas City

  • They sent out a different guy and I told him that this went out 3 times last winter. I hope I am not going to go through this again this winter. They sent me out an experienced guy who may have replaced one more part than necessary. He got one part in and he came up and said "That part started to work and it shut off again, but this little inexpensive part failed and I need to replace it too." I said "Go fix it, do whatever takes." So, he did. It was a little more expensive and I don't remember exactly what I paid him. My son said it was probably it was just the little cheap part that needed to be replaced, but you know people who do repair work know everything. Until the last couple problems, I have never had any problems with them before. So, I am still using them. He got it fixed.

  • It took them three different times. The furnace went out, and it was cole. I ended up buying a space heater. I don't remember the cost it;s been too long ago. They had somebody who came out and flipped the switch and it came on. We went for about 30 days and then it did it quit again. The second time another guy, someone different came out. I don't know what he did, but he got it going again and it lasted about another month. They didn't charge for the second and third charges. The third person that came out said it's either this part or that part. She said I won't know until I replace one or the other of them. I think it's a certain part, but we'll have to charge you for the part. I said:" I can't use it in the winter if it won't run, so if you need to replace the part that's fine." I don't remember, it was $90 or $100 for the part. She didn't charge me to put it in. It was a woman. When she got through with it. It ran the rest of the winter. At least she was willing to dig a little deeper. They were getting a little tired of hearing from me. They were very nice and apologetic. They promised who they sent that time would see that it worked. It worked all that winter. Then, last winter it went off one more time. They sent a different guy out. I said: "This went out three times last winter and I hope that I'm not going to have to go through this, this winter.". So, they sent out an experienced guy who may have replaced one more part than necessary. He put one part in and came up to me and said: "That part started to work and it shut off again and this little inexpensive part failed and I needed to replace it too." I said: "Go fix it, do whatever it takes" Until the last couple of problems, I never had a problem with them before. The crew work was okay. I asked for her on the last problem, and she was not available, so they sent someone else who fixed the problem eventually.

  • I've used them for years. I have a contract and they come out in the spring for the air conditioner and in the fall for the furnace. I pay a yearly contract in the fall and then in the spring there is no charge. All the years I've had them they have been fine. Most of the time they do good work and their prices are reasonable.

  • We used Handyman Matters' North location a couple times in the past couple years, and they were helpful. However, I have tried to contact them at least three times in the past 6 months--via phone call and email--and nobody has responded to me. I won't waste my time with Handyman Matters North from now on.

  • I have a contract with them. They come out in the spring to clean my air conditioner. They also come out in September or October and go down in my basement to check my furnace, clean and change the filters. If I have any problem throughout the  year, I can call them. All the workers I've come into contact with have been fine. I've used them for years.

  • Purchase and Install went with a hitch, the only issue was with follow-up for KCPL energy rebate. Two of the people that handled my installation, the salesman and service manager, are no longer with the company, so the paperwork was not submitted. It took several phone calls and e-mails, and many months before I finally received my rebate check.

  • Fantastic company! Everyone was on top of my phone calls and emails. Installation was to start at 7am and the doorbell rang at 6:58am. Drop-cloths were the first thing down and last thing up. Installation took all day with 2 guys on site. Everything that was vinyl tubing before, PRIDE replaced with PVC. It looks clean, professional, and my A/C is working like a champ. They will be the ones to provide my residential maintenance and absolutely earned a shot at my commercial stuff as well. Thank you!

  • Not only was was the communication great, the attention to detail and quality beyond reproach, and their courtesy and professionalism first class, but the price was competive or less than other bids I recieved.

  • After paying for a furnace tune-up I was told I had a defective high limit switch which I chose not have have them fix since I had a parts warranty from another company. There wouldn't have been a problem as the other company would have replaced it for no charge. As it turned out, I did not have a defective high limit switch - but what I did have was a $125 bill for the technician to tell me it was working just fine. Never again will I use this company.

  • They set a window of 11am-2pm which I assumed meant the work would be completed by 2pm, but it means the tech will arrive by 2pm. Valerie arrived after 1pm and completed the work at about 315pm. Not a big deal, but I'm glad we hadn't made plans to be somewhere at 2pm. Valerie was very courteous and professional. Suggested we might want to add some freon at a $58 charge; when we opted to wait until next service call, she did not pressure us.? Also: we were originally scheduled for maintenance in early June. When a heat wave hit, AB May was swamped with work helping people whose a/c was not working at all, so they called to postpone our maintenance appointment. Altho that was not ideal, I know that if my a/c ever goes out they will put me at a higher priority than someone else's maintenance call.? We have been AB May customers for 15+ years. They provide excellent service at a competitive price range.
