We began with several computerized tests that was supposed to show issues that needed to be addressed. The computer exam was given by the receptionist; not Dr. Brown. It seemed very thorough and a series of x rays were also completed. While the computer hit on some issues I had had over the years; It did not address the issue for which I had originally sought out this clinic. Dr. Brown is very personable and convinced me that once my body was completely realigned my pain condition would subside.
I was seen three times a week for 6 months. Each visit was a done on a Chiropractic drop table. This is a method that has been used in my care with prior doctors. I did not find that the table method worked as well as the manual manipulation and I discussed this with Dr. Brown. The adjustments with Dr. Brown were not as thorough and provide relief as with prior doctors. Previous doctors had used the table in conjunction with manual manipulations and it was much more effective.
Billing was another issue. We were convinced by Dr. Brown and her staff that signing a contract for one year and paying X amount per month would be beneficial as a family of two. This would accomplish what she felt was necessary to bring us to optimal health and cost a great deal less over the course of the needed treatment. My insurance covered some chiropractic and I was willing to pay out of pocket for two visits per week but the contract had to be signed within a limited time frame so there was an immediacy to the agreement. The staff convinced my husband that this was the most economical route so we agreed among ourselves to try the contract for 6 months to a year depending on the outcome of service. I have since found out that the contract she offers is against State and Federal laws.
My concerns began immediately. As I stated above there was little hands on manipulation done without the aid of the table. But there were much deeper concerns. A month or so into my treatment Dr. Brown suggested that my pain was mostly in my head and that she wasn't convinced that Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) was a real disorder. Of course, she was very professional in saying it. The issue was that I had been being treated in a pain clinic for many years prior, diagnosed by more than 12 different doctors and declared disabled by Social Security Disability. To me that was good evidence for the disorder being not only real; but widely recognized in the medical profession. Now I am not only in pain but very confused. How does any doctor address an issue that they do not believe exists?
When my husband and I reached our "Review" stage at six months in which we were reevaluated by the computer, we discussed how we felt and if we believed Dr. Browns services were helping. The consensus was no. He, having not been to a Chiropractor for long term treatment prior was very disappointed in the Chiropractic industry as a whole. He is now convinced more than ever that Chiropractic is not meant to help with maintaining good health; but instead just another medical sham with 'snake oil salesmen' as "doctors".
I too was extremely disappointed. It was my hope that I could discontinue the medications that many years of chronic pain had introduced and move on to a healthier alternative. Dr. Brown did not provide that for me. I was also disappointed with the level of expertise that Dr. Brown had in general health. I asked several questions on repeat occassions regarding weight management and constant headaches. The answers that were given were less than adequate and in some instances somewhat accusatory and could have been given by any online medical forum.
I have since found out that the contract she offers is against State and Federal laws. Unfortunately, we did not do our due diligence in checking out our options. We had to pay a large sum of money to get out of the contract with no services for the remaining time on the contract.
Please, if you decide to use this provider--Due Diligence is the key.

I started seeing Mindy in the Fall of 2011 to treat chronic back pain. She provides a thorough initial consultation (questionnaire and visit) as well as x-rays (optional). I saw her for approximately 14 months for weekly adjustments to treat minor scoliosis, subluxations, and loss of curvature in my neck.
In my opinion Dr. Mindy is much more than a chiropractor. She is a wellness counselor. She provided me with advice to help me life a healthier lifestyle, and I feel much better as a result. I continue to see her once a month for a maintenance adjustment. While my back pain in not gone completely (I still have poor posture when I'm grading papers), I am healthier and happier than before I started seeing her.
Mindy had a wonderful bedside manner. She is an excellent listener and is very thorough. I recommend her every chance I get.

    Sportsman, Dr. Jay Patrick
Dr Sportsman was very thorough and gentle. I knew the treatment helped immediately due to the fact that my husband was walking straight when he finished his treatment which wasn't the case when he walked in. My husband was very happy with the treatment he received and he will continue to see Dr Sportsman for future visits.  Also Kim who works the front office was very friendly, helpful and she welcomed us to Kansas City.

    Alain, Dr. Salas
The first time I went to him he applied energy medicine to my neck. It improved the mobility of my neck significantly. There was no harsh turning or popping. I have confidence in his treatments.
