The orthopedic is Dr. Shaeffer. He is at the Family Medical walk in clinic. April is when I first consulted him. Initially he has impressed me very, very good. He spends lots of time with you. In fact, usually if you are not the first appointment of the day then you have got to wait because he takes a lot of time with each patient. For anything bone related, he is a specialist in that. I would definitely grade him all 'A's. He is really good at knowing medications and how they affect you. He got me to get off of certain medicines that were given to me for my leg and so I quit it. It came to a point where I was almost feeling debilitated and his suggestion was to stop taking an anti cholesterol and that worked. My cardiologist agreed that it was safe to do so and that is really good. The only thing that would be a 'B' is the promptness because if you are not his first appointment then you are going to get into the room late because he spends so much time with the patients ahead of you. My wife uses him also.

I have been using his practice since January. I moved down here in November and January was when I was able to get my first appointment with him. Dr. Lee has impressed me very well initially. He really knows what he is talking about. He is friendly. He is very good at knowing your medicines and how they interact with different foods and things like that. He is very helpful and when you have a question he takes the time to listen to you and answer your questions. He is very good at interacting with you and feeling like you are not rushed. He takes the time to ask you if you have any more questions and it is like you matter when he is in the room. I have to give him all 'A's. They are prompt and everything was really smooth.

I don't have any dislikes. I like the location, it is well located.I have had no problems anytime I have been there. They are always available during normal working hours.  The punctuality is good, they are always on time, I have never had to wait a long time.

Also, their office had a terrible time getting their coding right for medicare, and it took us months to get bills straightened out because they weren't coded properly. I obviously don't recommend them, and am very happy with my new doctor!

    Scheduling has some issues.
      • In May, I called to re-schedule previous appointment t for the endoscopy , and was told to contact the Physicians nurse. I did, and got voice mail, and did not get a call back. That same day, I was called to by Cox financial to get pre-authorization for endoscopy. I told them that I wanted to re-schedule endoscopy. The person that contacted me said that she would do that. Set up new date for endoscopy. Instead, she canceled my upcoming CT scan instead of the endoscopy. appointment. She then scheduled the a CT scan on that date that i wanted the endoscopy.
      • If I had not called the day before I had the endoscopy, I would have gone through the horrible prep for the endoscopy and been scheduled for a CT scan.

They want you to bring in medication that you are taking for every appointment, and procedure.
They have a great website called Cox Health Express that shows exactly what I am taking and allows me to order refills. I had a CT scan and an endoscopy in June. When i went in for the CT scan, they ask me what medication I am taking. At the hospital, what medications am I taking. At the physicians office, what medication am I taking.
I should not have to repeat the medications that I am taking every time I go to a provider in their health system. The ironic thing is that I now log onto the Cox Health Express web site from my phone, to show them what medications I am taking.

I do want to emphasize that the nurses and physicians are excellent.

I've been going here for five years and I'm done. I feel like a number. The office routine is confusing and impersonal. I have tried to talk to my doctor about issues I'm concerned about and it is like he doesn't hear me. The front office staff always seems stressed about something, rarely looking me in the eye. I keep thinking it is going to be better the next time because they were highly recommended to me, but it hasn't been better, so I'm going elsewhere.

He looked at all of the odds and angles and said well, let's look at this before rushing to surgery, which is unusual for an orthopedic surgeon. He wanted to get me in and see if it was a viable alternative. It wasn't. He gave me time. This was my 19th major surgery and I was really really hesitant and he just was so kind and considerate. He let me find the place I needed to be to go ahead with him.

Overall everything went very smooth, even though the Doctor recommended I get surgery and I decided against it! The Doctor told me he had a similar infection and he had decided not to get surgery because he didn't mind living with it, which having him tell me that made my decision much easier.

I have been a patient of Dr. Choe's for almost 4 years and have zero complaints about her or her nurse. They are friendly, professional and wonderful to talk to and work with. They always call me back when I leave a message. She has had to refer me to a specialist in this situation and that went seamlessly smooth as well. I have since found that the Doctor she referred me to is a leader in this area and highly regarded in our city as one of the best.

Called to make an appointment with Dr., that had been recommended by critical care. Dr. was going on leave, so a Dr., new to practice was recommended, I made the appointment. I was promptly seen, within 10 minutes of appointment time. Nurse was new to position (first day) and had difficulty with computer system. Overall pleasant and caring. Dr. was also new to practice and also was pleasant and caring, did not seem rushed and took time to listen. However, also new to computer system and made a prescription error that caused problems at pharmacy; then, when correction was called in, called into wrong pharmacy and name brand only and I have not been able to fill prescription. The only other problem is that the office is only open 8-5 Mon to Friday and you cannot leave a message with the answering service.
