I went to a home inspection service outside of the company my realtors wanted us to hire. I found Extra Mile to have top ratings on Angie's List and after a brief discussion with Tori about what all they inspected in and around the house, plus digging up the septic to look inside (if necessary) I decided to hire them. They scheduled me in very quickly, I had to have the inspection done that week. They were efficient, the well water was tested the day before so that results would be available once the inspection was finished. They were prompt, they actually beat me to the house on the day of the inspection and had already begun work. They were professional, they took time after the inspection to present what they had found, to explain what was important and what was trivial. They had determined they would need to dig up the hatch to the septic, which the realtor's company had told me they would not do, and it is a good thing they did. The septic was inadequate to run both houses connected to it, the lateral lines were improper and many other components were busted. We were warned that it would be cheaper to replace than to fix. The sellers refused and hired a professional to come fix the septic, after viewing the issues himself, he agreed with our home inspectors. They cost us a bit more than the realtor's inspection company would have, but the extra $100 in the short term saved us $15,000 in the long term. We have a brand new septic we do not share with the neighbors! Tori and her husband have been absolutely amazing throughout this process, we had initially determined we would tie in their fee with the closing cost and when I discovered there would not be enough to cover them, they made an affordable pay plan for us. THE EXTRA MILE HOME INSPECTION COMPANY REALLY DOES GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!! I would use them again IF I hadn't just found my forever home, but I will keep their information to pass along to ANYONE who is in the market for a home inspection. Do not be fooled into thinking you should stick with the company that your realtor suggests, they want to sell a house and make profit, they are not in it to make certain you have a good HOME. EXTRA MILE wants you to be able to live in the house you choose, safely and happily. PLUS, they are Veterans and we should support our Vets! I cannot say enough good about these folks. Not a bad experience at all. Please call Tori, I promise you will not regret your decision.

I purchased a 4-plex that  was built about 1949  which over the decades  had  several different shades of  paint  on the trim.  Many years of neglect  resulted in peeling paint, dry rot and warped wood.   On 4 September 2014   Dave & Lynn arrived promptly to give a free estimate.  They did a through inspection of the exterior of the house and  Dave wrote a proposal, which I felt was reasonable  considering the amount of work that was going to be involved.
Being it was late summer and they were already scheduled into the fall I understood that work would not begin until spring of  2015.  A very wet spring and summer delayed the start of work even longer than either of us had expected.  The last of  July they began by pressure washing the exterior of the house and the deck.   On 4 August  the labor intensive work of  the next  four weeks began.  They started by removing the storm windows.  Followed by scrapping & removing loose paint, sanding,  treating and applying oil base primer to bare wood,  removed old caulking,  re-glazed  the windows and applied caulking to fill holes and gaps in and around thirty-two  double hung window casings and frames.   As I stated before the exterior had been neglected for several years and the  windows frames were in terrible shape  requiring  hours of work  before paint could be applied.   They scrapped, and removed loose paint  from the  fascia, soffits and vents;  followed by  scraping loose paint, sanding  and  priming one of the  six exterior doors.  The other five had been replaced  or had been protected from the weather so did not require much prep..
When the prep was completed  they  painted  32 double hung window casings and frames, 6 exterior doors,  3 awnings over basement windows, fascia and soffits, the exterior basement  and foundation walls.   The project was completed when they put the final coat on the deck and re-hung the storm windows.
I found Dave, Lynn and their work crew to be polite,  clean,  on time,  quiet steady workers and striving to do a job well.    I now have a house with a new fresh look.

They were excellent.  They worked out a way to save my driveway which would’ve really increased the price of the job and also the length of the job.  They had to completely rethink how my sewer line was done from the way that it was originally put into the sewer in the 1970s.  From my house all the way to the box where it led into the main sewer line, there was only 2 feet of drop in almost 300 feet, so they moved where it fed into the sewer line into a point where it dropped slightly more so that we could get 4 feet of drop in the line where there were spots that didn’t have any drop for 10-12 feet before. They came out the same day and they were here for 2 days straight.

I initiated a request for the maintenance on 7/9  and the service was done by appointment 2 days later. They showed up on time and convinced me they knew what they were doing. In addition, I required some minor additional service to the air conditioner fan motor which was over and above the Big Deal terms, and that issue was resolved. And there was no additional charge, in spite of my offer to pay for that additional time.
I was pleased and based on this visit, I have decided to sign up for annual services. Down Home is now my go-to service for future heating and air needs.
I dearly like "deals", but  if I can also find a dependable source for future needs on top of that...and no doubt there  will be future needs...then that is an added bonus. In this case, I believe I found that.

This was my second time at bat working with Nick. The amount paid as shown was for labor only as I purchased the materials directly. The project went smoothly and as expected. He came on 3 separate occasions over several days to complete the project. I am happy with the outcome and have nothing but praise to offer  relative to his work on this job.
The more I talk with Nick and learn of his skills, the more projects I seem to find. I have at least 2 more projects in the wind that I plan to have Nick work on.
In reading other reviews, I noted that some have expressed concerns about his timeliness. Like me, he is pretty much a one-man office, and the workload can be enormous one week and zilch the following week. Scheduling can be disrupted for a variety of reasons that can't be known ahead of time, and customers can be demanding. I have plenty of experience juggling  those kinds of issues, and I would just like to suggest that other readers plug in these circumstances and consider offering him a bit more flexibility. If he was a big company with big overhead and lots of employees, you would be facing higher fees for the same level of experience... and more likely, you wouldn't get one with all the years of experience he has behind him. Just my two cents.
In fact, the first time I used Nick was on one of the Angie's list Big Deals. I made the purchase in October of 2013, but for a variety of reasons, winter being a big one, the work didn't happen until the following April. We both had scheduling issues, and we both allowed each other a wide berth. But in the end, when push came to shove, and long after Nick was paid, he arrived and spent an entire day resolving my needs, and it was done professionally and correctly, and I was a happy with my purchase.
As Forest Gump said "Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get"  . Thanks to Angie's List service, not so much. I chose Nick based on prior recommendations of other customers. And I made a good decision.

The service technition came out to our home and inspected the dammage to the garage door and said they could order just the pieces we needed to replace the door is a sealed insulated door and just the door would have cost us around $300.00 and that is without the labor of having it installed just ordering the parts we needed saved us money and the door looks and works like new

Mr. Messenger arrived on time.  He evaluated the existing pipes and explained to me what he thought we needed to do.  Immediately he began to do the work, removing old pipes and drain.  Then he made some changes to the area of work and installed a new drain and move the water lines for the shower.  He installed all the required hardware for the Moen shower mix valve and shower head.  He cleaned up the area and explained what the contractor would need to do to begin tiling the shower.  Very professional and courteous.  He knows his job and is up to date on the latest materials to use.

Mr. Messenger arrived on time and went to work quickly.  He answered any of our questions directly and to the point.  He drained the old heater, disconnected it and hauled it out of the house.  He positioned the new heater, cut some old water lines and installed new ones with the latest pipe and fittings, very nice work!  He cleaned up everything and was finished in about an hour or so.  I was very impressed with his work and attitude.  It was refreshing to see such professionalism!

He did an excellent job. He was very informative. He worked for the customer. I had to buy a certain product and he did the research for me and tried to find a cheaper deal than I did. I called a couple of places and they wanted over $1,000. He found it online for $450 so he actually saved me over $700. I offered to pay him to do the research but he said no. He saved me a ton of money. He really did a good job.
