    I went into West County Ophthalmolgy on 12/2314 to have a punctum plug re inserted into my right eye. The one I had currently had fallen out and I was unable to recover it.

    Dr. Brother?s re inserted the plug, but was not 100% happy with the fit. 

    The plug was very bothersome that evening and it fell out the next morning; I was able to recover the plug and brought it into her on my next visit.

    My next appointment was 12/30/14; Dr. Brother?s was un able to re insert the plug due to my punctum being swollen, I was advised to come back. 

    My third appointment was 1/6/15, Dr. Brother?s again tried to re insert the plug, the eye was still swollen, but better. She tried to re insert it, it failed again. 

    I called back on 1/13/15 as I was advised to do. I left a message and Laura (nurse/tech) called back and said Dr. Brother?s said to continue the Restasis (prescription eye drops) and refresh Tears and to come back in 3-4 months. I felt totally put off. The staff seems to speak for the Doctor.

    I went back again on 2/3/15 and the plugs failed again.

    During the time all of this was taking place, I was not working and had the Market Place insurance which her practice was not a participant in, but she was my regular eye Doctor. Dr. Brother?s agreed on a $150 price for the plug and no charge for the office visits.

    Only on my last visit on 2/3/15 I was charged the $45 office visit fee and not sure why. 

    I tried to dispute the credit card transaction, never heard anything from the Doctors office until 2 weeks before the case was closed with the credit card company. Then they requested all kinds of documentation that an average person could not get, like a second opion letter from another Doctor, so I would have to find a new Doctor, pay a copay and have a Doctor write a letter.

    The way it sounds to me the Doctors office was trying to say I felt the plugs were defective. I am not a eye Doctor, so I cannot make that call. I think the Doctor did not know what she was doing and maybe should have tried some other brand of punctum plug instead of the same brand. 

    I am very unhappy with paying for something I do not have and having a Doctor that basically works a "deal" under the table.

    I feel like I threw away $195 ($150 plus $45 office visit). To me it would be easier to refund my money instead of getting a bad review from me and telling people about it.

    The entire process from consultation through surgery and beyond was very easy and efficient. The surgery itself was explained in detail so that we knew what to expect on the day of our appointment. My husband and I both had eye surgery on the same day and we were in and out of the office in under 1 hour. The follow-up appointment was the following morning and our vision was already corrected by that time. The staff is very professional and experienced - they are able to get the job done correctly and quickly. We are both happy to be rid of contacts and eyeglasses!
