    Thyssenkrupp Access
An excellent experience that is having a huge positive effect.  I contacted ThyssenKrupp Access (TKA), along with three other companies that sell stair lifts.  They were the first to respond, and with the most complete, professional presentation.  Tom Studer, TKA sales representaqtive, came to my home to explain their wheelchair lifts, take detailed measurements of the basement staircase, and give me brochures and a price.  The price included delivery and installation.  The installer also showed me how the stair lift worked, and had me take a trial trip, and made sure I could operate it properly.  It is simple to operate.  Installation took about 3 hours.  The "rail" is attached to the stairs, not the wall.  The load capacity is 300 pounds.  The chair operates off two 12 volt batteries, which receive a constant trickle charge.  They are always fully charged.  If the electricity goes out, the chair will operate for a couple of days off battery power--no getting stuck in the basement!  The lift also came with two remote controls, so I can send it up or down stairs as needed.  I am disabled, and rarely went down to my basement any more.  This accommodation has made it easy to get there once again and carry things up and down the stairs.   I am very happy with the stair lift.  It has already made my life much much easier.  The people at TKA, from the sales rep to the installers, were cordial, punctual, competent and easy to deal with.  I recommend them without hesitation!
