Home Instead Senior Care - Columbia
It worked well, for a few weeks they provided overnight assistance as well as some scheduled week day assistance.  As recovery progressed, assistance was limited to scheduled week days until move to assisted living occurred.

My aide is really good; some of them really suck but I got lucky and got a good one.  It’s a mixed bag; you stick your hand in and see what you get.  They do everything from bathing to setting up my medication.  I also have a lady that sweeps, mops, and does laundry.  My overall experience is an A but that is because of who I have.  I have had people in the past that I had to call the agency and tell them to not send them back again.  The punctuality depends on the person; mine is very punctual.  I have Medicare and Medicaid and they pay for it.

I couldn't have been happier with them. The staff was awesome. They really cared. They had me up and down the stairs, in time for my daughters baby. They were very supportive and a lot of laughter between them and the patients and they explained why something hurt. They explained that they were breaking up scare tissue and that's why it hurt.

    Hospice Compassus - Columbia
My husband passed away on December 14th, and they have been counseling me since then; I have all the way for another year after that, and someone just called me yesterday from there and asked me how I was doing and if I was needing to speak to anyone or if there is anything they can do for me. In the middle of the night, they would be there with 24-hour nurses. If we need pain medicine or pump needed to be changed, they would come out no matter what time, 1, 2, or 3 o' clock in the morning. They have somebody on staff ready to come out 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays. I would recommend them to anyone

They are about as good as anyone else. It is paid by Medicaid or Medicare. If the person they send doesn't do what I want them to do, I have to advocate for myself. I call the company and tell them what my complaints are. I negotiate with them and they either get it straightened out or they assign someone else. I generally have the same person over and over so I develop a relationship with them. My person is pretty good on punctuality. Not everybody is as good as my person. They do not always communicate when people can't make it or schedules change. They have to be trained if they do any medical treatments and I don't have any medical treatments done for me. My nurse is good.

    Hospice Compassus - Columbia
He have had many experiences with various hospice providers over the years with different loved ones, and typically they are wonderful at what they do. I cannot say that about Compassus hospice. We used whichever branch serves the Shell Knob Missouri area. Though the staff was friendly, this hospice suffered from severely poor management. The left hand never seemed to know what the right hand was doing and, of course, this left the family even more clueless. They had given us the impression that we would have our loved one for another month, at least. I came to help my mother care for him during his last weeks, not knowing when I got there I would find him nearly gone already and that he would only live another day or two. My mom was trying to get him up to go to the bathroom, but it was impossible. He was going on himself and on their bed and it was very humiliating for him. Hospice had left NO supplies. There were no diapers, wet wipes, rubber gloves. I had a package of wet-ones in my car that we used and we sent someone out for gloves and diapers and larger wipes, which was no easy feat since they live in a rural lake area. After some phone calls, we were able to get an adjustable bed delivered by the hospice's equipment delivery service, but no one was sent to help get him into the bed. With the help of friends and neighbors, we were able to get him situated in the bed but he was getting worse very quickly. His pain and anxiety were completely out of control in his last day or two, and though we informed hospice, nothing was done to control his discomfort past what he had been taking all along (hydrocodone). What he needed was a significant dose of morphine (and a nurse to check him out). He was only able to use the bed a little more than a day before he passed away and he passed away before supplies were ever sent for his care. No one from hospice came until I made the urgent call that I felt he may be going. A nurse arrived two and a half hours later and confirmed........THEN LEFT! She did not ask if we would like her to stay and she did not instruct us in how to handle the process during and after his death. I can only say that I thank God that I came when I did. I am a nursing student and at least had a little bit of training. My poor Mom would have been there alone with him when he passed, and who knows how she would have handled it at her age. Compassus Hospice, please get your act together!

    Dan Smith Boone Hosp. Center
A RN and a physical Therapist were suppose to come to my house at least 3 times a week.  The RN showed up but didn't do anything but chat with me, she didn't even take my vital signs everytime she was there.  I had a wound that needed to be cleaned and needed help showering, but she did none of that.  My family ended up doing all of it.  The Physical Therapist show up 2 times in the 3 weeks and didn't really exercise anything.  I did do a few leg exercises in my chair but nothing that really made much difference. I would love to know exactly what they charged my insurance, because I'm positive they were WAY over paid.
