If an "A+" was an option, I'd have selected it. Erskine and his team did a tremendous job through each phase; demo, flooring, cabinet assembly, and finish work. Whenever there were unexpected challenges that arose, Erskine was quick and calm about communicating the issue and brainstorming possible solutions. He showed his expertise in so many ways, and he also took time to listen to our goals and vision for the project. It was clear, that making us happy with the final result was the ultimate goal for Erskine. And it's refreshing to see someone who enjoys their work as much as he does. Can't say enough about the integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. I'm looking for other projects around the house to work with Erskine in the future!

This was a difficult job since nothing in our house is standard. The lighting had to be moved twice along with the medicine cabinet and the doorway had to me moved all to accommodate the new cabinets. Very pleased with the outcome.

Erskine Horton, the main man behind Unlimited Handiworks, did an excellent job. The house he had to work with was a Wick Home built in 1979 (meaning nothing in the house is "standard"), so the task wasn't without its problems but nothing Mr. Horton couldn't fix. The kitchen cabinets posed the biggest challenge since they were constructed unit-by-unit by Klervue, shipped in boxes with instructions on how to put them together. This type of cabinets was a first for Mr. Horton and he did a great job piecing them together. Mr. Horton was easy to work with, helped us in choosing the products for the buck, and made suggestions on how best to accomplish what we wanted the house to look like. He works best without over-the-shoulder monitoring but is open to suggestions or ideas and does like feedback on his work. We look forward to seeing what he does with the bathroom which will be thoroughly remodeled as well. Mr. Horton was always upbeat and ready to tackle whatever was scheduled for the day; he also has a great positive attitude. I've included before and after pictures of the kitchen (sorry they're not real good); pics of the rest of the house will have to come later.

Very poorly. Had to be called back numerous times to fix improperly installed faucet, unevenly laid tile, cabinetry, and leaks. They had to cut out the ceiling in the family room to repair a tub leak that could not be reached from above. Jake would not return calls or return after he told me he would be back to fix a second leak in the family room.

Excellent: Had installation done by Elec. Contractor previous. Not done correctly. Bought new fan, called Jay and he came out and did the Job. Very pleased with him, his personality, service and experience. Don't understand why there are not more positive ads for him. He can do anything, do it right, be on time, do it at a fair price. It is hard to fine persons with his qualifications to do small jobs. Highly recommend him.

I had a horrible experience with Uncle John's Handyman service. So heres the negative review hoping it spares someone else. The second estimate was for $8,000 and they took two weeks to get back to me. The total cost ended up being over 15,000 dollars! Almost double the original estimate including the installation of the vanity, toilet and concrete wall repair; all of which didnt get accomplished. What did get accomplished looked horrible or had to be redone or covered up. I am extremely unhappy with the job that was done. I shouldnt pay 58 dollars an hour to get amateur work. I was ok with the demolition and plumbing but frustrated that it was taking so many weeks. However I assumed that construction would go smoothly because the contractor was building off of his own walls; unfortunately I was wrong. I liked the contractor, but I cant afford to pay that much over the estimate for no good reason, especially for substandard work. We had to redo the plumbing ourselves for the vanity drain because it was 6 too short for the vanity drawer. Walls that were built from scratch are crooked. The flooring was: cut terribly - Im going to have to do molding to cover it up Its noticeably crooked in comparison with the tub. There are also bubbles in it Theres a gap between segments and both doorways, They also cut too far away from the tub and toilet so that has to be masked. They damaged my countertop when moving the dishwasher to install an icemaker supply line. They damaged the paint in the bedroom while repairing one of the bathroom walls The tile was: Crooked. Ungrouted/Uncaulked on tub/tile seem. Shallow grout application needs to be redone or filled in. Cracking in grout the first week without exposure to water. Problem with hours were: They charged me starting at 8:00 am regardless of when the contractor got there - once it took till 9:30 am to get onsite. I cant afford to pay for so many freebie hours, especially in a month-long project. They charge for trips to the store. However, they make no effort to minimize trips and passed the cost on to me! I counted 13 separate trips across town and many times they didnt have the right supplies because proper measurements and planning werent done. I bought the vanity, tub, tile, floor, and accessories and brought them onsite, because I didnt want them to have any more excuses to go to the store. The first bill was 15hrs over what was actually worked even if you exclude the imaginary hours of work going to a store and getting to the work site. I talked with the owner and he said if I had overpaid that amount would be taken off of the final bill. After this concern was raised I asked for another estimate to get us back on track but they never made time. Those 15 hours were still on the final bill and my complaint was dismissed. Estimated at 8,000 and 105 hours of labor, our project took 194 hours. In all fairness, we ran into some complications with a cracked cast iron drain and a rotten wall that needed to be replaced. A generous estimate would be 30 hours for that extra work and this is assuming we get done with the bathroom which of course at 194 were still not done. ...Which comes to 60 hours of waste at 58 dollars an hour and thats not including those imaginary work hours. This amounts to $3,480 which I want refunded. Unfinished work I called Monday morning of what would have been week six and informed the owner that the tub wasnt functioning, the handle to the faucet was stuck on cold/lukewarm, and that the drain was incorrectly installed for the vanity. He strung me along all week until I got fed up with it and had IC Restorations come on Friday and fix the big stuff. The handle and electrical work they fixed in an hour, cut into the brand new walls and patched and mudded them, and rewired my breaker box. They did 10x better work, 10x faster, and 10x cheaper. Once I saw a real team working I realized the extent to which I had been ripped off. I was way too understanding. It was a huge mistake for Uncle Johns to blow me off and not come back and fix their work. I paid at the end of week 5 for what I thought was a sloppy job, but I wouldnt have paid at all if I knew the thing didnt work. I also never received a final bill or invoice as promised.

We hired Jake Bruton and Aarow Building for a large scale addition and renovation project. Long story short, the whole thing turned into a huge nightmare.  He ended up at least 35% above the initial agreed upon bid.  Then he walked off the job with no warning, leaving us to become general contractors and work with all of the sub-contractors to finish our house and take care of the additional 2 months of unfinished work, an incredibly stressful situation to be in. As for the budget, there were no written change orders, etc. documenting the overages - just him saying, after months of assuring us we were "in the budget", that we were $40,000 over the budget.  Then, about 5 weeks later, saying, that actually it's like $90,000 over, and final numbers were actually $200,000 over the initial budget. The increased costs were not the result of changes made by us, they were almost solely the result of poor estimation by the builder. We came close to losing our house over his mismanagement of the budget. We were never notified of any increase in cost until he gave us these lump sum numbers.  For this large of a project, he was unable to manage the costs.  He very strongly pushed a type of framing called "advanced framing", promising us it would save us money.  The framing, done by his crew instead of sub-contractors, took several months longer than it should have, resulting in a huge increase in labor costs.   The inefficiency of his crew and lack of on-site supervision and oversight by the owner also caused numerous other items to have to be re-done - for example, one floor was re-tiled 3 times, another re-tiled 2 times, exposed ceiling beams were put up completely different than the plans specified and had to be re-done.  As we've worked to finish the project, we discovered more items were done incorrectly - including shelf brackets not anchored properly, three spindles coming loose from the banister, and stair risers that came loose by hand.
We feel strongly about posting this review in an attempt to save others from the awful experience that we had.  His website states that the job isn't finished until the customer is happy, our experience was the opposite - we weren't happy with the work, the cost was 35% over what we planned to spend and he left us to finish it on our own with no warranty and no one to call noas problems arose with quality of work, now or in the future. Feel free to e-mail us at mag131311@yahoo.com if you have questions or want to hear more about our experience.

Eric is excellent at what he does and has the time to explain things very clearly and carefully to his clients. We were so pleased to have worked with him. We are new to the area and contacted 8 different contractors for estimates. Eric was by far the most frank about possible issues and also clearly was very knowledgeable about both tile and wood products and the possible challenges of installation. His price was very fair. As others have stated, he's also a really nice person. I recommend him very highly and would certainly go to him directly for any future job. I don't think anyone would be disappointed in hiring him.

Worst job ever. Horrible company and ignorant owner. We called in July to get back on the schedule after paying $200 and he just kept pushing us to the end of the week then to next week then the end of that week and so on.

The old fiberglass shower was small and the space available for the remodel was tight.  Aarow's owner (Jake) was essential in the design of the new shower.  He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with.  The remodel took longer than expected because of issues with the existing plumbing and concrete slab.  Jake and Jeremy identified problems, came up with solutions, modified the plans and got it done.  I am very pleased with the finished product.  The shower is very accessible, easy to keep clean, and the Kohler fixtures are wonderful.  Just what I wanted. The door fits perfectly.  They also replaced the old tile surrounding the existing tub with subway tile to match the shower.  It looks great.  Jeremy used the old bypass shower door (which was still in good shape) to replace one in another bathroom.  I was very pleased that he would take the time to do that for me.
