Boarding reviews in Chesterfield

They do boarding, training, and other sort of things. He was boarding there, and a dog that should have not been there. Not because all dogs can't come, he wasn't one of the customer's dog, he was the veterinarian's dog. He took in an homeless animal. A breed that tends to be aggressive. That dog got away, and attacked my dog as they were taking my dog out to potty. If one of the young staff member didn't jump in the middle, he would have killed my dog. My dog had extensive stay at the hospital and stitches. I would never recommend or use them again. Presumably they think I may sue. Obviously that veterinarian that owns the place paid for all the hospitalization etc, but it doesn't take away the traumatize of my animal an me coming home from abroad.  They beat him up. That is stupid to bring in. I know he wants to help dogs in need. You don't bring in Akita's, you do it in your own home. Its lack of common since. There was no cost, obviously I wasn't going to pay it. They comped that and paid the veterinarian bill. I think it was smart of them, or they would be sued.

They were fine except they didn't have anybody in my area last time I wanted to use them. Someone had quit so I understand. They sent me photos in a timely manner. I am not sure if I will use them again because I don't know if they can provide me service, although they still send me emails so perhaps they can. I asked them to water some plants while I was gone and they couldn't do that. There was another company closer to me that did that. They didn't come in everyday to water, but three times a week they would water my plants. I have used this company two or three times.

Our puppy learned so much (and so did we). The trainers worked with our pup every day over three weeks. He was not only there training all day long, but he was also socializing with other puppies, so that he would not be intimidated. And he was around strangers all day long, which is great for his socializing. The program not only includes this, but also some private lessons with the family so we can learn directly from the trainers and keep his progress going at home. We just completed his three weeks. Not only is his behavior much better, but he is just a better dog all around. I realize part of this is the fact that he is getting older, but his commands and compliance is so much better than we could have ever done alone. As if that was not enough, we still have some home sessions with the trainers that are part of the package that we still need to schedule. And, as a "Perfect Pet" graduate (did I mention he got a cute little diploma), we can attend ongoing group training classes at no additional cost. Oh, and the trainers continue to help us with non-training related issues because this is our first dog. So yes, it is a bit pricey, but once you figure in everything you get and the value of the training, it is well worth it. I would highly recommend this program and Petropolis in general. We now do his grooming, vet care, and boarding there. The facility is beautiful. But the people are what make this place amazing.

My dog always came back just excited to see me but not so insanely excited. In other words, they took very good care of her. She was happy to be there. She was happy with what they did. They were phenomenal. They were A's. I would absolutely use them in the future. They were very professional and on time.

We were extremely pleased with the care provided to our German shepherds. They stayed with Petropolis for 7 nights. We have boarded our boys with Petropolis on 4 different occasions and they had a great time. The staff pays attention to every detail and we could tell every time we picked them up, that they enjoyed their stay. We also had several days of obedience refresher training for both our furry family members. Lorrie did an excellent job keeping the boys busy so they didn't get board and they were much more responsive to all of their commands. Our dogs showed no signs of stress and were relaxed and happy when we picked them up. We have tried other boarders and trainers in the past. We would not board or train anywhere other than Petropolis.

We have used Laurie at Petropolis for dog training services. Laurie did an excellent job with our Milo. She is always there to answer any questions we may have (especially after the training was completed). Laurie cares about our pet and has maintained a relationship with Milo after the training has been completed. We have also used Petropolis for day care, boarding, and grooming. I feel the entire staff cares for and about our pet.

Bob Laut is great.  He has a very good understanding of canine behavior and clearly and simply communicates his knowledge to us.  Marlee, our dog, is a catahoula/lab mix.  I adopted her from the humane society, and over several years she came to believe that she was in charge of the household.  She had problems interacting socially with other dogs, was very protective of me when other dogs were around, and extremely protective of her yard if another dog came into the yard.
Bob comes to the house to work with us and Marlee.  As a result of Bob's training (my husband and me and Marlee), Marlee's behavior has improved significantly.  We recently boarded her at Y Bark Alone for a few days, and the staff couldn't get over how mellow she was compared to previous stays over night and at doggie day care.  And, she's leaving the cats alone!
We highly recommend Bob to everyone!

As a first-time dog owner, I was nervous about leaving my puppy at a kennel, and I interviewed and visited 3-4 facilities, including the facility where my dog trains. Ultimately I picked Silver Maple because of its personnel and the warm feel of the place, as well as the absolute cleanliness of the facilities (not easy in a building of this age - they are the oldest kennel in St. Louis, founded around 1935). In every visit and with every phone call, everyone has been warm, helpful, patient, and accommodating - and excited to welcome my dog. They recommended care based on his size - meaning they were honest about waiting to put him in large group play sessions until he is older and able to "hold his own" - and they kept a very close eye on his behaviors and habits throughout his visit. I called once to check in (they encouraged me to call any time), and they were reassuring as they provided detailed, personal information about his days. I especially appreciated the price break they gave on play times as we got him settled in for this first away-from-home experience.
This kennel feels like more of a home than a kennel, and I really appreciate that. I look forward to a long relationship with Silver Maple Farm.

After interviewing / visiting 3 different training facilities around West County, I picked this Kennelwood based on my experiences and recommendations I had for Matt from online, from my vet, and from a friend. As a first-time dog owner, proper training and guidance is very important to me, and the structure of this facility's lessons works very well for my family. Though it is not cheap, each week includes 5 days of all-day training interspersed with puppy play time and rest. In addition, each week I get 2 30-minute sessions with the trainer and my puppy (and my son when he can also attend) so that we can consistently reinforce what is going on at home and tailor training to my and my dog's needs. My puppy is SO excited to go each day, and he is learning a tremendous amount, as am I.
I was even more impressed when my dog had an issue: I got a call one day that he had a worm, which they had spotted when taking him outside. They immediately contacted me and my vet (who is right next door), and then went way above and beyond by going next door to get my dog's medicine (thankfully just a one-dose problem!) and administer it to him right away; in fact, I was on the phone with my vet when the Kennelwood employee walked in the door! That is great support and service.
Additional notes: They allowed me to take home their training collar during the course of our training, and they had cots available for purchase (around $90), though they didn't pressure me to buy theirs; I did anyway because it is a solid, well constructed brand. I will happily recommend this facility (and in particular this training team) for training services.

We have a few short trips a year for work, and also a few longer trips of 2 weeks+ when we visit my husband's family in Australia. Finding the right place for our babies to stay while we are gone makes all the difference in us being able to travel worry-free. We did not want our babies to be in cages, and truly doubted we would find anywhere that would give them all the love and attention we do at home. That is until a fellow dog-lover told us about Laura and Jeff!

Knowing they do a temperament evaluation with all of the dogs and are willing to turn away those who aren't the right "fit" gives us all the peace of mind we'd ever need to know our babies will be in good hands and will enjoy themselves interacting with "like-minded" non-aggressive happy pups while we're gone. Our once shy and timid puppy first stayed with them when she was only about 6 months old, and I honestly think her time with Laura and Jeff and all the other wonderful dogs made all the difference in her personality.

From quirky food requirements to medications to schedule changes, nothing is ever a problem for Laura. She has been a true lifesaver for us, even making room for us last minute so that we would be able to attend a family member's funeral out of town. We will be forever grateful, but for them it's just what you do.

And at the end of the day, all the writing I could do here won't do Laura and Jeff justice. The dogs really speak for themselves. Every time we get out of the car at their place, they are beyond excited to get in the front door...and for us to leave so they can get to the business of playing! And when we pick them up, of course they are happy to see us, but they also always run back over to Laura for some pets before we leave, telling her "thanks" in their own special way. What more could we ask for?
