Hospital Care reviews in Chesterfield

    ER was great

Dr. Janet Matuszek is wonderful! Very down to earth, listens and takes her time. She also delivered my daughters second child, fixed the botched up C-section scar from the previous doctor (different hospital). The staff at at St. Lukes  was absolutely incredible.

Dr. Amy Ney is very very good as well. She diagnosed shingles on my leg and in my eye.

St. Lukes is my favorite hospital in St. Louis!!!

Since my insurance makes me go there, I've been going there for about 4 years. They over-bill. As far as I'm concerned, they keep on charging me different rates for the same thing which I think was very bad and their billing department is really bad. Their hospital is terrible. The doctors that work within the hospital, I think they're good doctors. I see the doctor there for bariatrics and it's very interesting because I've got 3 different bills for the last couple of months for the same procedure, for the same office visit and the same amount of time every time. The doctor's bill is about $22.00 and the hospital bill is $189.00 on average and the hospital was not even where I see him. I see him in his office in the building that's on the premises. It was like negative negative negative. I know that they've gotten trouble for staph infections and violations. If I have to have a surgery, I would never go there. I'd be too afraid that I get a staph infection or something. They way overcharge. My husband actually had a surgery there and I was nervous and I paid for a private room. I have to use them 'cause it's my only option but if it wasn't, I would definitely never go there again.

My elderly mother is no stranger to St. Luke's Hospital due to complications of a chronic metabolic disease. This most recent hospitalization was for surgery and recuperation from the surgery. Communication was thorough between hospital staff and patient and patient's family throughout. The medical staff in all departments (pre-op, OR, recovery and hospital room) were courteous, caring and professional. Upon discharge, the decision and actual transfer of the patient from St. Luke's to a rehabilitation hospital were clearly communicated and thoughtfully arranged.
I believe a major element that makes St. Luke's a successful hospital is the efficient network of physicians and the efficient sharing of data among them. Mother was supported by not simply the surgeon, but also her internist and a team of specialists who coordinated her care both in terms of procedures as well as medication so there was no danger of omission or duplication or contraindication.
Overall, St. Luke's Hospital is the best hospital in my experience.

Our experience with St. Luke's Hospital has always been positive.  After the surgery was scheduled, a nurse from the surgical department called to confirm the appointment and leave instructions.  On the day of surgery, the preparation was smooth and thorough and the patient was made comfortable.  The operation was on time.  Family member waited in the waiting room for the surgeon's report at the end of the surgery, then met the patient in her hospital room after a short period of recovery.
During the 4 days of hospital stay the patient was well cared for by the nursing staff as well as her network of physicians, including her internist, her endocrinologist and the surgeon.  Patient was given information about the rehabilitation hospital she would be going, and the transition was smooth.
St. Luke's Hospital offers peace of mind when the patient has a network of physicians who communicate well with one another.  The nursing staff are professional and caring, and communicate well with the patient.  They make sure the patient knows what to expect after discharge.
Overall St. Luke's has been the best hospital we know.

They are respectful and technically they are extremely competent. We moved here from Boston and we are used to medical power house hospitals but I would compare St. Luke's Hospital to those in Boston. I would highly recommend their care.

I drove myself to the er in severe pain.  I was immediately put in a room and given a mild pain killer.  I had to get an xray of where the pain was and it ended up being a kidney stone.  I was in and out within an hour

The nurses were friendly and helpful.  They allow your baby to stay with you in the room and do any necessary tests in your room.  It was comfortable, clean, and nice.  The food was fine, and they allow you to order off a menu when you want to eat, which is nice.  They also have an awesome baby photographer who takes newborn pictures in your room.  I hope I can deliver my future children at St. Luke's.

It was an excellent hospital in every aspect.  The doctors and nurses were great. The support personnel were fine, too.  The environment was good, and the rooms were fine.  I was quite pleased with them.

It is a great place.  I never had any problems with them.  They are about the patients; they are for us first.  They educate us well on the disease.  They are right there for us and they walk us through every step of it.

I ended up transferring my mom out after 3 days of hospitalization over to the rehabilitation center and it was horrible.  It was not the actual hospital, but it was the rehabilitation center.  The staff was unprofessional.  The rooms were dirty and they were not attentive to my mother.  I ended up transferring her out of the hospital.  She was transferred from the hospital which was excellent to the rehab center on a Saturday afternoon.  We started the procedures on Tuesday morning and finally got her out of the hospital on Tuesday night and got her over to another center which was outstanding.  The billing and administration was through Medicare.  I have already talked to the CEO.  They paid for the ambulance because we were billed for it as we requested transfer out of the hospital.  It was horrible and I wouldn't send anybody there.  They left my mom dangling on the bed.  I was getting a call in the night to go and get her as she didn't want to be there because it was horrible.  She was in another hospital in November and I didn't get one single call from there and then we transferred her to another hospital because they finally opened up in January.  I asked her to be transferred there which they did and some of the staff from the other hospital were there and they were outstanding.  She was in there the very first day and they just let her lay in bed which was horrible.
