Gas Fireplace Repair reviews in Chesterfield

The description of the work wasn't what the technician performed. The description said there would be a thorough cleaning and inspection. The technician DID inspect but told me when he got there that Angies list had put things on the description that were not accurate and he would not be cleaning my gas logs or fire box. Unfortunately he did not tell me this until he arrived

Owner actually arrive early for the appointment which was very nice.  He checked the pilot light controls and burners on both fireplaces.  He told me both pilot/gas valves needed to be replaced.  He quoted a price for replacing the entire log set.  I ask for and received a price for just  replacing the pilot controls.  He did not clean the logs or the glass fireplace doors which the deal claimed he would do.  He also was to check the furnace but I had already had that work performed so I declined.
He was in the house approximately 30 minutes.  I certainly had the feeling he was more interested in selling me new fireplace logs and less interested in repairing and cleaning my current set.

Tim arrived promptly and was both courteous and professional. He handed me his business card as soon as I greeted him at the door. Although the deal was for only one fireplace, I had a second that Tim serviced for free. My fireplaces were rarely used so not in bad condition but we all know that to most service providers that doesn't matter. They want to get paid for their time and the number of things serviced. Rightfully so. Tim went above and beyond and that is what will stand him apart and keep him successful! He gave me instruction on how my fireplace worked ( I'm clueless) which was appreciated. He also talked about vent-less fireplaces ( I have one in basement) and their health concerns. I appreciated the education . Tim and Trinity was a good find on Angie's List. You won't be disappointed if you choose him ! He also put on shoe covers to protect my carpeting. He definitely respects his customers. Thanks Tim!

The gas company found one of the gas lines was not holding pressure and also said I needed a safety value on our downstairs fireplace. I called three companies and explained the situation and was told I would need an entire new unit for the valve and finding and repairing the the leak could be a costly situation. Estimates started at $800 and went up from there. This was before anyone looked at the situation. I called All Gas and explained the situation and asked if they handled such repairs. I was cheerfully told that this is what they do. I booked an appointment with them, a month before they had an opening, but I'm extremely glad I waited for this company. The owner, Tony Schmitt, did the service. He listened to the problem and started checking areas where the leak could be with a sensor. Fortunately he found where the leak in the line was happening, replaced the pipe and installed the new safely valve. He reset the logs in both our fireplaces and made sure both were properly working. The bill was $515. Tony was extremely professional and quite knowledgable regarding gas fireplaces. He explained things to me as he was checking everything out and made sure I understood fully the repairs needed and the cost. This is the first review I have ever written. I'm doing so because I felt very fortunate to have used All Gas for my repair and not one of the other companies I spoke with concerning my situation.

I have bought gas logs and outdoor furniture from Forshaw in the past, and I value their quality and selection. But for getting my gas logs serviced, I found them significantly overpriced. Getting gas logs serviced in St. Louis seems to be very challenging right now, I assume due to a shortage of technicians; this means often waiting 2-4 weeks for a service. I called Forshaw as I was finding that problem in trying to get a simple service performed on my 12 year old log unit. Since I hadn't purchased this particular unit from Forshaw, though they knew I was a previous customer, I was routed to another rep to schedule the service. That rep didn't call me back as promised, so 1-2 days later I called to track her down. She then put me on the schedule for a date 2 weeks out.
She didn't mention anything about pricing, so I asked, to which she seemed surprised that I hadn't been told pricing already - though I'm not sure when I would have been. She told me there was a $195 service call fee; I expressed surprise at how high that was, as multiple other shops I had contacted charged $125. I then asked if that would likely cover the cost of the simple repair, and the overwhelming impression I got was "no" - parts weren't covered, extra labor wasn't covered, a second service call wasn't covered. Needless to say, I went with someone else, who, by the way fully cleaned and serviced my logs for $125 flat in a single simple visit.
Unfortunately I'd be hard pressed to use Forshaw in the future for service requests. Perhaps they charge the higher rate because they prefer to just service their own units.

Great.  He did  not push us to get a new BBQ, and showed me how to manually light the BBQ, as the Lighters had quit working, and he felt the cost to replace all the lighters was ridiculous and that I should manually light the burners until another problem occurred and then purchase a new BBQ.  I agreed wholeheartedly with him.

Matt was great! Our fireplace wouldn't stay lit, so he quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced a faulty part, and thoroughly cleaned the fireplace. I've never had a gas log fireplace, so he took the time to explain what I should expect for maintenance. He was a little concerned that our chimney wasn't drafting properly and recommended a chimney sweep. I will definitely use MEH Services in the future.

They did a very thorough job with the tune-up. They guy they sent wasn't pushy. He gave me accurate information and let me decide. It went very well. I was very pleased with the guy. There were no additional fees with the Big Deal.

My condo is unusual in that the Gas for the fireplaces is on a type of "co-op" system.  The Gas bill goes to the condo management, and only those of us actually using the fireplaces split the bill.  I do not get billed directly by the Gas company, and thus needed a private contractor to inspect the existing unit.
Danny was very thorough and so easy to work with.  I respect safety concerns related to use of a gas appliance, and Danny took extra time to explain safe use of the fireplace and made sure I was comfortable with it before he left.  (Again, I hope I have his name correct, as he did an outstanding job of installation AND explaination!!!)
Connie, the employee who handled the scheduling, was reliable and very helpful.  I appreciated her calling me to let me know the logs arrived and we could have the installation done sooner.  She was a pleasure to talk to and work with.
When I decided to purchasethe set from the sister company of Gas Applicance Service, it seemed like the logical choice because Gas Appliance had already been out to my condo and had a record of what was needed to "fix" my existing fireplace. The whole process could NOT have gone smoother.  I already had confidence in this installation company, and they of course worked closely with the company from which I purchased the new unit.

Our gas fireplace insert stopped working. I called several companies who said they can only repair gas fireplaces if they were the company to originally install the fireplace. (The company that originally made and installed our gas fireplace is not longer in business) When I called Smoke N Fire, they said they weren't positive they could fix ours since they didn't install it, but they thought they probably could after I described the problem. They came out three days later, on a Saturday, which was very convenient for us. They came when they said they would. They fixed the problem quickly: the thermocouple needed to be replaced. They were polite and friendly. I would definitely hire them again.
