    Tim came out over the winter and took a part from the fireplace with him and said he would give us a call when the new part came in. He never called us back, we finally got back in touch with him in MAY and he said the part was on backorder bc it was now SUMMER. He agreed to come out on May 25th, but then cancelled the day of saying he still didn't have the part. We tracked him down again in JULY. The day he was supposed to come he said he was going to be 2hrs late bc he had to stop to pick up the part. An hour after he was supposed to come to the house he text us and said he would not be performing the service for us and to call someone else. Completely unreliable, took at part from our fireplace rending it completely useless and won't return any text or calls.

    This is my fianc�� and my second time using Dan Weber for projects at our house. A year and half ago or so, we contracted him to update 2 bathrooms. In our new home, we utilized Dan to renovate the entire first floor of our house. The scope of this project was a new kitchen (cabinets, countertop, backsplash), new flooring, paint, and a half bathroom. In short, we are completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to friends and family. Dan, personally, is a completely honest and upfront person who approaches potential jobs without preconceived notions. We had several contractors bid the current job. Dan was the only one who came into our home, listened specifically to the scope of the project, and returned a bid promptly that covered those points. When he made suggestions for additional work, they were exactly that, suggestions. He pointed out a number of items where doing it now would be orders of magnitude cheaper than doing it later. For example, some things had to be removed to put in the floor so put something new in is the same price in terms of labor as putting the old one back. We found these insights to be very helpful and we took advantage of a number of them. We never felt pressured to ���do more.��� Dan���s pricing scheme is simple to follow and easy to assess the value of. His bid included labor and ���generic��� materials. These are things you might expect like nails, screws, etc but also included paint, can lights and baseboards. You then provide the more customizable parts like cabinets, flooring, and light fixtures. However, Dan passes along transparently his contractor pricing on these if you purchase from select vendors. The benefit of this is you understand exactly where the cost is and in general can save a great deal on some of these larger ticket items. The one downside of this approach is that it requires a little more coordinating on your end but in our assessment the little extra work was more than made up for in the savings. He and his workers were prompt, professional, and did good work. When mistakes were made (inevitable in a large project) they were corrected without question or issue. At the end of each day, the would tidy up and leave the place as clean as a work zone could reasonably expected to be. Dan communicates well. Each night I would get a text message with the time they would be arriving the next day (we lived in our house during the renovation) and what to expect. When plans had to change he would let me know. Dan went out of his way to make things easier when possible. He allowed us to dump our moving trash into his dump trailer without added cost. He hauled away some heavy stuff we needed to clear and moved some appliances without added cost. The finished product is beautiful. My fianc�� and I are completely satisfied and so happy with out investment. In a few years we will likely remodel our master bathroom; Dan will be our first call. That is the strongest endorsement in my opinion.

    When I advised what the fireplace was doing (shutting off after a few minutes) he advised it likely needed a pilot assembly. He didn't perform any other work. I asked for an estimate on the pilot assembly. He quoted me exactly double what I paid for some else to come out for a second opinion (another service call fee) and actually replace the pilot assembly. They spent 45 minutes cleaning fireplace after replacing the assembly (which they had on the truck) and were very professional. The low $49 inspection special was simply to get me to pay double for the required service.

    The description of the work wasn't what the technician performed. The description said there would be a thorough cleaning and inspection. The technician DID inspect but told me when he got there that Angies list had put things on the description that were not accurate and he would not be cleaning my gas logs or fire box. Unfortunately he did not tell me this until he arrived

    Work was completed as expected. Technician provided photos to show possibility of loose bricks at chimney cap - pointed out that chimney cap should have been extended past chimney to provide a drip edge when house was built, minimize wear on chimney face. Company followed up with bid for repair, no hard sell. Very satisfied.

    I have a beautiful patio and lovely garden and walk areas.  The plantings are living their third year now, healthy and blooming at all different parts of the year (very well planned!).  I continue to use his services.  At the end of the patio project, West County Landscaping had figured out a couple of simpler ways to deal with fixing problems that existed, and I was charged LESS THAN the bid price!  They did not have to do this, as they had to struggle mightily against weather that year.  They also did MORE than I thought they would on a project that we had broken down into sections, simply so that the whole looked good.  When I save up more money, I plan to have them complete another side of the house.

    Owner actually arrive early for the appointment which was very nice.  He checked the pilot light controls and burners on both fireplaces.  He told me both pilot/gas valves needed to be replaced.  He quoted a price for replacing the entire log set.  I ask for and received a price for just  replacing the pilot controls.  He did not clean the logs or the glass fireplace doors which the deal claimed he would do.  He also was to check the furnace but I had already had that work performed so I declined.
    He was in the house approximately 30 minutes.  I certainly had the feeling he was more interested in selling me new fireplace logs and less interested in repairing and cleaning my current set.

    I received my bid and gave my approval.  I was told it would depend upon the weather and it would probably be at least 2 weeks.  After 2 weeks I called just to see how their schedule was going.  The weather cooperated and they were able to get to my house within the next 2 weeks. 
    I was not home when they arrived but they got right to work. When I arrived, I was told that one other side really needed to be replaced and although the fourth side could last maybe 5 years, they went ahead and took it down too. I was fine with this. The crew chief had to go get more bricks but his truck was hit in an accident so could not bring the bricks that day. They wrapped my chimney area against weather problems and said would be back on Monday. Before leaving the firebox was repaired.
    They arrived on time Monday and it took most of the day. 
    They cleaned up my roof, yard and driveway completely.  The chimney looked great.
    When presented with the bill, I expected an upcharge for the additional work they did but they charged me the contract price.  That was a very pleasant surprise.
    I will recommend J & J Masonry to all who need such work done.  They were extremely professional.

    The gas company found one of the gas lines was not holding pressure and also said I needed a safety value on our downstairs fireplace. I called three companies and explained the situation and was told I would need an entire new unit for the valve and finding and repairing the the leak could be a costly situation. Estimates started at $800 and went up from there. This was before anyone looked at the situation. I called All Gas and explained the situation and asked if they handled such repairs. I was cheerfully told that this is what they do. I booked an appointment with them, a month before they had an opening, but I'm extremely glad I waited for this company. The owner, Tony Schmitt, did the service. He listened to the problem and started checking areas where the leak could be with a sensor. Fortunately he found where the leak in the line was happening, replaced the pipe and installed the new safely valve. He reset the logs in both our fireplaces and made sure both were properly working. The bill was $515. Tony was extremely professional and quite knowledgable regarding gas fireplaces. He explained things to me as he was checking everything out and made sure I understood fully the repairs needed and the cost. This is the first review I have ever written. I'm doing so because I felt very fortunate to have used All Gas for my repair and not one of the other companies I spoke with concerning my situation.
