Lighting Installation reviews in Blue Springs

I would like to start by saying, the kitchen looks great. It is beautiful and we have had tons of compliments on how it turned out. However, the process getting to that point was extremely frustrating and difficult. The project was supposed to last 6 weeks and it took almost 4 months. Many of the subcontractors did low quality work that had to be redone throughout the entire project. Wrong sizes of cabinets were ordered and had to be reordered. Cabinets were dented/scratched during install that also had to be reordered (some were never reordered and we are just living with it). Communication was poor throughout the project, and the owner, Bryce, was not only rude, but was not true to his word on multiple occasions. Our project manager Nate was not without flaw, as his communication could have been better as well, but he was at least gracious and apologetic when he made a mistake. This was very different from Bryce, the owner who tried to blame anyone but himself. Nate worked hard to make the flaws and mistakes right again, Bryce on the other hand, alluded that we were too picky and that we should be okay with the low quality of work. In the end, when they continued to not complete all of the punch list items, my husband and I finally started fixing the rest of the items ourselves. This all occurred between July and October of 2015. After completion of the project, our dishwasher never seemed to work quite right. We called multiple times and finally a GE repair person came to take a look in February. What he discovered was that Cabinet Clad had hooked the dishwasher up to the cold water line instead of hot, causing the dishwasher to trip a fuse. We called Bryce to have him send someone out to fix it. He said he would, but that WE would have to pay for it (so don't believe the one year warranty stated on their website.) Bryce then asked to speak with the GE repair man that was there so that he could understand the issue. When he got off the phone, the repairman said he was extremely condescending to him. This, to a complete stranger! Nate was then scheduled to come out first thing Friday morning. He didn't show and rescheduled for Saturday at noon. I cancelled my plans Saturday to be there for his appointment and he did not show again and also did not call or text to say he wasn't coming or to reschedule. I text him twice with no response. Frustrated, we called someone else to come over and fix the issue costing us more money. (Again, don't believe the warranty they claim.) During the process of fixing it, it was discovered that Cabinet Clad also hooked up the water lines to our kitchen heater incorrectly and it has been dripping water under our kitchen floor, into our basement, and through the walls since installation. After a month of chasing Bryce again to fix the issue, the leak, new tile, and new drywall was finally fixed. I would like to reiterate that the finished product looks great, but it was quite a headache to get to the finish.

Lawrence S Fortney Home Repairs & Maintenance
They did a great job! Replaced four rotten wood fence posts with metal posts set in concrete (extensive work) - fence is now solid & sturdy, looks nice. Moved (centered) a light fixture over a sink that was off center, repaired sheetrock and texture where fixture used to be, looks good. Moved an existing closet shelf and rod up to make room for an additional rod in walk-in closet, much better. They do high quality work at a reasonable rate. Very pleasant people. We plan on having them do some more work for us. I highly recommend them.

    M & M Contracting Co LLC
Very happy with his work.  I purchased a big deal for two hours of handyman labor.  He hung a ceiling fan and replaced three light fixtures.   I also had him come back to help me change the dryer vent from plastic to aluminum and he reran the exhaust piping in the basement.   He did a great job.  .

    Edwards Electric LLC
It went great! I sent an email to their website after hours and they contacted me the next morning. We made an appointment for the next day for him to look at the project and give me an estimate. Adam arrived five minutes early and was very professional. The wiring in my garage was a little tricky and it took some detective work on his part to figure out how to accomplish what was needed, but once he did, he gave me a very reasonable estimate. Even better, he was able to complete the job right then instead of having to come back at a later date. This was very important to me because I needed to make sure the work was completed quickly before the work on the garage doors could begin. Adam also explained a plan for replacing my outdoor light fixture after the garage door conversion and he installed the junction box with that in mind. Before he left, he made sure all of the circuits in the house were working. I was very pleased with the work that was done.

    Ric Ginn Electric
I contacted Mr. Ginn on recommendation from my sister who had him do work for her previously. I had a pendant light that needed to be installed in the dining room plus some other electrical work to be done. He arrived at the appointed time and was extremely professional and helpful. He emailed an estimate to me that evening and I asked if he could do just a few items on the list first, then the rest at a later date. We set the appointment for the following Tuesday.
On the day Mr. Ginn was to perform the work, he had an emergency call and couldn't make it that day. However, he did let me know that he was unable to be here well in advance of the appointment time. He was available the next day, arrived on time and got right to work. It took about 5 minutes for him to change out one switch next to the front door. Then he uninstalled the  old chandelier and installed the new pendant quickly and efficiently. He installed the dimmer switch for the pendant light then moved on into the bathroom for the separation of the fan and light switch. He thought he would have to climb into the attic to do some electrical work, but when he removed the switch plate, he found that going into the attic wouldn't be necessary.
When it came time to pay the bill, Mr. Ginn dropped the price of the the exhaust fan/light switch work because he didn't have to make the trip to the attic. He said that if the job was not as complicated as previously thought, he should not charge the original estimated price.
I  will definitely call him when I'm ready for the rest of the work to be done.

    Handyman Barrett LLC
I contacted them via Angie's List message to help my mom with some projects. She had a big list that dad's health prevents him from helping with. Didn't hear back for a couple day, but when I called I got a prompt return call and apology for the message being missed. They came out, gave her an estimate, made some recommendations and mom hired them. They were on time or early each visit. I was pleased with most of the work. Bathroom wall repair looks good, light installs seem well done gates work better. Only downsides were they left a bit of a mess in the yard after the gutter cleaning, and that a third gate in the backyard was not repaired and mom was told it was improperly installed. I was confused why they weren't able to fix that, but didn't talk to them to find out. Plus they said we'd need to dig out some dirt to make the first gate open fully. I wasn't positive why they didn't do that for her, but I'm guessing they figured someone in the family could do it instead of charging for it. But the two gates they repaired do open properly now! I appreciated their recommendation that the ice machine repair wasn't worth the money, but mom insisted it was and is very happy with it. They also gave her recommendations for a deck repair person. My concerns were things that probably could have been dealt with had I been there to talk to them, and mom just didn't ask. But none of that was too major. She liked working with them. Overall, we were happy and would use them again.

    Good Roofing Company, LLC

While I was working in our attic, replacing a bathroom exhaust fan, I noticed sunlight coming through where the plumbing vent went through the roof. I called Geremiah Gilliland, the owner of  G & G Restorations, because he and his crew repaired a portion of our roof a year and a half ago, and I was very satisfied with the work they did. When I told him who I was, he remembered me, and the work they had done, which surprised and pleased me. He came by today and personally replaced the flashing. His work was fast and successful.  And he didn't charge me for the repair or material. One less thing to worry about this rainy Spring.

    $49 Handyman
It was not a quick process because of the water damage and waiting on the cabinets we picked out to ship but overall it was a great experience. Brian, Carlos & Joe were the main workers we had at the house - they were respectable, polite, and very informative - making sure we understood each step of the process. Brian started with the dirty work of removing the water damage, repairing drywall, replacing subfloors, installing laminate plank flooring, adding can lights, and fixing our lose electrical boxes. The cabinets we picked had to be assembled which took a day of work and then Carlos stepped in to complete the cabinets, build our countertops, install baseboards, add hardware, and basically put everything in place. Joe did an amazing job on our tile, AMAZING! We picked a hand sculpted glass tile that was a bit more tedious than we expected but Joe worked his magic and really made the kitchen, the tile is everything I hoped it would be and more - it's the focal point and looks fabulous. Brian helped to finish up the plumbing to get us back in business and Carlos has been worked to wrap up the little details and honey do list of things that needed completed to give our kitchen the finished touch. Everything turned out so well - we did not replace a set of upper cabinets to open the space more and added in a pantry - both Doug's ideas, we are so glad we listened because it changed the whole dynamic of our home. We also went with another of Doug's ideas and added in a breakfast bar which we are loving.
Doug was on top of the project the whole time, keeping us updated and checking in nearly daily. We liked that he let his workers be in charge of the day to day activity though, it made things flow well and allowed us the ability to schedule the next steps with them directly, which worked well with our schedule. Not having done anything like this before was scary but we felt confident in Doug and trusted his word and he proved that he knows what he is doing!
The only real issue we had was with 2 contractors who said they came to our home to work but never showed up, that was an extremely frustrating situation and we thought it would set us back even farther in the time line but Doug stepped up and sent others out right away. It was a frustrating situation for him too but he made it right and got things rolling in the midst of it all. We were very appreciative of his extra effort, especially in a situation that was out of his control.
We have recommended Leawood Kitchen and Bath to many already and will continue to do so - we will also be using them again in the future as we do more home upgrades. The pricing was fair and below cost for the other estimates we got and the work is quality! Doug's honesty and ideas were a breath of fresh air for us in our messy kitchen, which is now our favorite room in the house!!!

Mr. Electric of Kansas City Northland
Came out and was on time.  He went to work  and fixed both projects without any problem.  I also showed him a light problem on my back porch.  He suggested that I just a different type of light bulb and then they worked. Thanks for a good job.

Workman called to say he was on his way. After he completed the work I had schedule he checked and replaced 3 outlets that I asked him to look at (my house is 30+ yrs old). Very pleasant and cleaned up after installing the microwave. Pleasant to have in the house, and was happy to check the outlets, even though they weren't scheduled,
